5 Intr oduction Y our new di gital projector pr ovides thr ee computer and three video inputs and ha s XGA 1024x 768 resoluti on. Option al user-chan geable s hort and lo ng thr ow lenses make th is a flexible pr oduct suitable for many dif ferent uses.
6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector provid es three computer a n d three video conn ectors: • one M1-D (HD, DV I, an d comput e r) • two VESA (HD, HD component, and computer) •o n e c o m p o n e.
7 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect one end of the computer cable to the Comp uter 2 connect or on the proj ec to r . Connect the other end to the video port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to disconnect the monitor cable fr om the computer ’s video port.
8 If you pr efer connecting your computer to th e projector with an opt ional M1-D cable, connect on e end of that cable to the M1 po rt on your computer , and conn ect the othe r end to the Com puter 1 connector on the pr ojector .
9 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch to positio n “1” on the back of t he pr oj ector , then press the Po w e r button on the to p of the projector or t he remote. The LED fla shes green a nd the fans start t o run.
10 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W i n d ows 98 to the pr ojector , the computer r ecognizes the pr ojector as “new har dware” and t h e Add Ne w Ha rdw are Wiz ard a ppe ar s.
11 Skip th is pag e if y ou did not co nnect a USB mouse cabl e F or Windo ws 98: • If you connected the USB cable, the Add New Hardwar e W izard appears a gain. Drivers must be installed t o use the USB fu nctionality . • The Wizar d launches two times .
12 Adjusting the imag e Adjust th e height of the pr ojector , if necessary , by pres sing the rel ease but- ton to extend the elevator foot. Rotate th e leveling f o o t (located at the bottom ba ck right cor ner), if neces - sary . Position the projector the desir ed distance from t he screen at a 90 degree angle to the screen.
13 Connecting a video de vice Standard v ideo connect ions Plug the audio/ v i deo (A/V) cable’s yellow connector into the video-out connector on the video devic e. Plug the oth er yellow connec tor into the ye l- low Video 2 connect or on the pr ojector .
14 Displa ying a video ima ge Remove the lens cap. Press t he power switch to position “1” on the back of the pr ojector , then press the Po w e r button on the top of the projector . The LED flashes g reen and th e fans start to run . When the lamp comes on, the star tup screen is displayed and the LED is ste ady green.
15 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs b y rotating them until the desir ed image size and fo cus are produc ed. If the image is not square , adjust the vertical keystone using the b u tt ons on the keypad.
16 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The projector a utomatical ly blanks the sc r ee n after no active source is detected for 3 0 minutes. This blank scr een helps pr eserve the life of the pro- jector . The image ret u r ns when an active sour ce is detected or a remote or keypad b utton is press ed.

25 Using the remote control The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batteries . They are easily installed by slidi ng the cover of f the r emote’s bac k, aligning th e + and - ends of the batteries , sliding them into place, and th en replac ing the cover .
26 Using the audio T o pla y sound from the project or , con nect your source to the Audio In c on- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust the volume, use the buttons on th e keypad or remote. T o adjust the b a s s, treble, bal a n c e, or loudness, use the A udi o menu (see page 33).
27 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected properly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize the i mage using the onscr een menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the men us, see page 29. • Adjus t the Key stone, Co ntrast, or Bright ness in t he Picture menu .
28 Optimizi ng video imag es After the video device is connected pr operly and the image is on t he screen, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on u s ing the menus, see page 2 9. • Adjust the Keystone , Contrast, B rightness, Colo r , or T int in the Pictur e menu.
29 Using the menus T o open the menus, press the menu b utton on the keypad or re mote. (The menus a u to matically close aft er 60 seconds if no buttons ar e pressed.) Th e Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desired su bmenu, then pr ess the Select but ton.
30 Picture menu T o adjust the following six settings, hi ghlight the set ting, press Select , us e the up an d down arro ws to adjust the v a l ues, then press select to confirm the c hanges. Ve r t i c a l K e y s t o n e : adjusts the image vertically a nd makes a squ arer i mage.
31 Presets : The pr ovided Pr esets optimize the projector for displaying com- puter pr esentations, ph otographs, film images, and video images. (Film input is material origin ally captur ed on a film cam era, like a mov ie; video input is material origin ally captur ed on a video ca mera, like a T V show or sporting event.
32 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) cha nges the clarity of the edges of a video image. S elect a sharpne ss setting. Color Spac e : This option appl ies to computer and component video sour ces. It al lows you to select a colo r space th at has bee n specifical ly tuned for the video in put.
33 Settings menu Audio : allow s adjustments to the volum e, bass, tr eble and bala nce. Also allows you t o turn on and of f Loudness (which boosts t he higher and lower frequen c i es), the Internal spea kers, and pro j ect or startup Chime.
34 Screen Sav e : automatically blanks the scr een a ft er no signals are detected for five mi nutes. The image returns w hen an active s ource is de tected or a rem ote or keypad button is pr essed. Scree n Save is disabled when Power Save is enabled.
35 Effect K ey : allows yo u to assign a diff erent fu nction to t he Effe ct butto n on the re mote to quickly and easily use the effect. Only one effect can be enabled at a time. Hig hlight an ef fect and pr ess Selec t to choose a dif ferent one. Blank : shows an empty screen.
36 Network : The projector ha s an RJ45 Ethernet conn ector that supports net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is wi l l allow for the control and management of the proj ector over a corporate network. Th e fo llowing fields are accessible when DHCP is not checked a nd available for manual e ntry of data.
37 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-abrasiv e camera lens cleaner to a soft, dry clo th. A void using an excessive a m o unt of cleaner , and don’t apply the cleaner di rectly to the lens. Abra sive cleaners, solvents or othe r harsh chemic als migh t scratch th e lens.
38 Replacing the pr ojection la mp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours th e lamp has been in use. Fifty h ours before the specified end of the la m p’ s life, the message “ Replace lamp” briefly appears on the screen a t each startup and in the Interactive Di splay .
