6 INSTALLA TION INSTALLING THE HANDSET’ S ANTENNA Insert the an tenna into the larger hole at the top of the hands et, the n scre w in the ant enna clo ckwise un- til it i s secure. SELECTING A LOCATION You can pla ce the phon e on a desk or table, mount it on a standard wal l plate, or mount it direc tly on a wall.
7 MOUNTING THE P HONE On a De sk T op 1. Remov e the ba se’ s brack et by pressing both tabs on the wide e nd, then lifti ng off the b rac ket. 2. If you have a si ngle 2- line mo dular jack , plug one en d of the s upplied 2 - line lon g modu lar cor d int o L1 OR L1/ L2 on the back of the p hone’ s base.
8 5. Inser t the tabs on th e narrow end of the brack et into the lower slots on the base’ s bottom , then push the tabs on the wide end of the brac ket into the othe r slots until the brac ket clicks se cure ly in to plac e. 6. Plug th e AC adapter into a stan dard A C outlet.
9 If you need to c on nect a l ong m odu - lar cord to th e L2 j a ck , r e m ove th e shor t modular cord f rom the l eft groov e and route the long modu lar cord thr ough the gro ov e on the bot - tom of the b ase.
10 3. If you have a si ngle 2- line mo dular jack , plug one end of th e suppli ed long 2 -line m odular cord into L1 OR L1/L2 on th e back of th e phone’ s base. Note: When you make this connec - tion, do not conne ct another modu- lar cord to the L2 ja c k.
11 2. Remov e the b atter y p ack and plug its conne ctor into the phone’ s sock et. T he connect or fits onl y one way . 3. Put the bat ter y pack back in the compar tment , then repla ce the cover . To char ge the batter y pack, pl ace the handset on the base either face u p or face down.
12 • If the BA TT LO W in dicator does not light, but the phone does n ot work, recharge the b atte r y p ack. (The bat- ter y pack char ge might be too low to light the indicato r .) • If the batter y pack gets weak during a call, the hands et so unds 4 b eeps e v er y 30 seconds and the BA TT LO W indicator flas hes for 4 minutes.
13 OPERATION MAKING/ANSWERING CALLS To make a call , pick up the ha ndset a nd press LI NE1 or LINE 2 to select the line you want to use. W hen the line ind icato r lights s teadil y and yo u hear the dial tone, dial the phone number. To answer a call if the handset is on the base, simpl y lift the han dset and beg in your c onversatio n.

15 PUTTING A CALL ON HOLD Press HOLD to put a ca ll on hold s o you can use th e other phon e line w ithout dis - conne cting the cu rrent ca ll. The li ne indi - cator fla shes when a c all on that li ne is on hold. Note: D o not return the ha ndset to the base whil e a call is on hold.
