Place the treadmill on a level surface, with at least eight feet of clearance behind it and two feet on each side.

1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the treadmill onto its left side as shown. Partially fold the Frame (58) so the treadmill is more sta- ble; do not fully fold the Frame until the tread- mill is completely assembled.
7 2. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the treadmill onto its other side. Partially fold the F rame (58) so the treadmill is more stable. D o not fully fold the treadmill until it is com- p letely assembled. Attach two Base Pads (82) to the base of the Uprights (84) with two 1” Tek Screws (83) as shown.
6. Attach the Latch Housing (73) to the left Upright (84) with two Screws (3); start both Screws and then tighten them. Note: Make sure that the large hole in the Latch Housing is on the indicated side. Remove the knob from the pin. Make sure that the collar and the spring are on the pin.
9 If you purchase the optional chest pulse sensor (see page 22), follow the steps below to install the receiver included with the chest pulse sensor. 1. Make sure that the key is removed from the con- sole and that the power cord is unplugged. Remove the indicated Screws (3) from the back of the C onsole Base (85).
HOW TO CONNECT A 75 OHM CATV CABLE 1. Connect a 75 ohm C ATV cable to the 75 ohm terminal on the treadmill frame near the uprights. HOW TO CONNECT AN EXTERNAL SOURCE USING A CATV CABLE 1 . Connect one end of a 75 ohm CATV cable to the 75 ohm output jack on your external source.
1 1 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
12 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive and enjo yable. When the manual mode of the con- sole is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the touch of a button.
13 H OW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to c old temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- perature before turning on the power. If you do not do this, the console displays or other electrical components may become damaged.
14 The right display —This display will show the dis- t ance that you have walked or run, the speed of the w alking belt, the incline level of the treadmill, your pace (in minutes per mile), and the approximate num- bers of calories and fat calories you have burned (see FAT BURNING on page 28).
15 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 13. Select a preset program. To select a preset program, press the Program (PRGM.) button repeatedly until “P-1,” “P-2,” “P-3,” “P-4,” “P-5,” “P-6,” “P-7,” or “P-8” appears in the right display.
16 F ollow your progress with the displays. See step 5 on pages 13 and 14. Measure your heart rate if desired. See step 6 on page 14. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 7 on page 14. When you are finished exercising, remove the key from the console.
17 H OW TO USE A HEART RATE PROGRAM During heart rate program 9, your heart rate will reach a pproximately 85% of your a ge-predicted maximum heart rate. (Note: Your age-predicted maximum heart rate is calculated by subtracting your age from 220. For example, if you are 30 years old, your age-pre- dicted maximum heart rate is 190 beats per minute).
18 If heart rate program 9 is selected, the target heart r ate setting for the first seg- ment will be shown in the f lashing Current Segment column of the matrix. The target heart rate settings for the next several segments will be shown in the columns to the right.

21 H OW TO OPERATE THE PERSONAL TELEVISION IMPORTANT: Before operating the television, you must connect a 75 ohm CATV cable to the 75 ohm terminal on the treadmill. See page 10 for instruc- t ions. Follow the steps below to operate the television. Insert the key into the console.
22 Press the On/Off button again and add or delete cable channels. Note: Complete this step only if you are using analog cable. After all valid cable channels available in your area have been saved into the television’s mem- ory (see step 5 below), you can manually add channels or delete unwanted channels.
23 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be per- m anently damaged. Next, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.
24 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the frame down until the catch is past the latch pin. 2. Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands , and lower the treadmill to the floor.
25 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please call the toll-free telephone number on the f ront cover of this manual.
Raise the Uprights (84) to the vertical position. Remove the three Hood Screws (7) from the Hood ( 41), and carefully pivot the Hood off. L ocate the Reed Switch (63) and the Magnet (46) on the left side of the Pulley (47). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch.
