1 Introduction 1 Introduction Please r ead this manual car efu lly befor e using the device. This manual is provided with the VS III™ device you have received. It does not in any way replace the c linical manual supplied to your physician or HME provider.
2 1.3 Medical information Purpose of your ventilation device The VS III is inten ded to ventilate both adult s and children. Patients may use it at home and / or in a hospital. The device is used with either a si ngle or dou ble respiratory circuit. Two ventilation programs can be set up by you r physician.
3 Description of the device • The re is an adequate distance between the ve ntilator and ot her electrical de vices in y our home. • In accordance w ith Directiv e 2002/96/EC concerning w aste electrical and electronic eq uipment, this v entilator must be sorted and disposed of se parately from other types of r ubbish.

5 Description of the device Rear view On the rear of the device, take part icular note of the location of t he following: • The pow er supply soc ket • The dust filter , whic h you will ha ve to replace (see “Cleaning and maintenance ” on page 1 7 ).

8 3.1 Connecting to a power supply To connect the ve ntilator to mains power: 1 . Plug the po w er supply conne ctor into the rear of the ventilat or (into the soc ket mark ed , see next figure) . 2. Plug the pow er cord into the po wer supply bo x and f asten to pre vent accide ntal disconnection .
9 Connection pro cedures 3.2 Connecting the resp iratory circuit CAUTION Only the circuit supplied by your HME provider may be used with your device. Using a dif ferent type of circuit may reduce the eff ectiveness of your treatment. Option 1 – Single circuit 1 .

12 4H o w t o u s e This ventilator and its acces sories must be operat ed in a dust-fre e environment and kept away from direct sunlight. The ventilator is a medical de vice. To ensure smoo th operation, keep t he ventilator out of reach of pet s, and ensure children do not have unsupervised access to it.

18 CAUTION Do not use bleac h-, c hlorine-, alcohol-, or aromatic-based solutions (including all scente d oils), or moisturising or antibacterial soaps.
19 T roub leshooting 6 Troubleshooting Alarms will alert you to any problems with your device. The instructions in this section will help you to identify the cause of the problem. If the fault persists or cannot be ident ified, do not try to open the device.
