It may have been installed in the cold water line as a separ ate back flow pr eventer , or it may be par t of a pressur e r educing valv e, water meter or water sof tener .
W ARNING: The pressure rating of the relief valve must not exceed 150 PSI, the maximum working pressure of the water heater as marked on the rating plate. 13 If adjustment is necessary… T urn off the power to the water heater . Remove the jacket access panel(s) and insulation exposing the thermostat(s). The thermostat protectiv e cover(s) should not be r emov ed. Using a small scr ewdriv er , set the thermostat(s) dial pointer(s) to the desir ed temper atur e.
