3 GENERAL SAFETY RULES WARNING: Read and understand all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below , may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury . SA VE THESE INSTRUCTIONS WORK AREA Keep your work area clean and well lit.
4 DANGER! Keep hands away from cutting area and bla de. Keep your seco nd hand on the aux ilia ry handle , or motor housing. If both hands are holding the saw, they cannot be cut by the blade. Keep your body positioned to either side of the saw blade, but not in line with the saw blade.
5 Do not use dull or damaged blade. Unsharpened or improperly set blades produce narrow kerf causing ex- cessive friction, blade binding and KICKBACK. Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking levers must be tight and secure before making cut. If blade ad- justment shifts while cutting, it may cause binding and KICKBACK.
6 Some of the following symbols may be used on this tool. Please study them and learn their meaning. Proper interpreta- tion of these symbols will allow you to operate the tool better and safer .
7 SERVICE Servicing requires extreme care and knowledge and should be performed only by a qualified service technician. For service we suggest you return the product to your nearest AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER for r epair . When servic - ing, use only identical replacement parts.
8 DOUBLE INSULA TION Double insulation is a concept in safety in electric power tools, which eliminates the need for the usual three-wir e grounded power cord. All exposed metal parts ar e isolated from the inter nal metal motor components with pro tect- ing insula tion.

11 SPINDLE LOCK UNP ACKING INSTRUCTIONS: When unpacking the tool: Carefully remove the tool and accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are in- cluded. Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.

13 Fig. 3 ASSEMBL Y WRENCH BLADE SCREW SPINDLE LOCK BUTTON REMOVING BLADE See Figure 3. Unplug the saw. CAUTION: T o prevent damage to the spindle or spindle lock, always allow motor to come to a complete stop before engaging spindle lock. Depress spindle lock button.
14 OPERA TION WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with the tool to make you careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict sever e injury .
15 OPERA TION Fig. 5 Fig. 6 KICKBACK See Figures 5, 6, 7, and 8. Kickback occurs when the blade stalls rapidly and the saw is driven back towards you. Blade stalling is caused by any action which pinches the blade in the wood. See Figure 5. DANGER: Release switch immediately if blade binds or saw stalls.
16 OPERA TION Fig. 10 ST ARTING/STOPPING THE SAW See Figure 9. T o start the saw: Depress the switch trigger . Always let the blade reach full speed, then guide the saw into the workpiece.
17 OPERA TING THE SAW See Figures 11, 12, and 13. It is important to understand the correct method for operat- ing the saw . Refer to the figures in this section to lear n the correct and incorr ect ways for handling the saw . WARNING: T o make sawing easier and safer , always maintain proper control of the saw .

19 OPERA TION TO ADJUST 0° BEVEL STOP See Figures 16 and 17. Unplug the saw. Pull bevel adjustment lever upward to release. Turn set screw with hex wrench and adjust base until it is square with the saw blade. Securely lock the bevel adjustment lever.
20 OPERA TION TO BEVEL CUT See Figure 18. WARNING: Attempting a bevel cut without having the bevel adjustmen t lever securely locked in place can result in serious injury . Hold the saw firmly with both hands as shown. Rest the front edge of the base on the workpiece.
21 Fig. 20 LENGTH OF CUT SCALE LENGTH OF CUT SCALE See Figure 20. The saw is equipped with a length of cut scale on its base. It is parallel with the saw blade and you can use it to measure the distance the blade cuts into the material. NOTE: Six inches is the maximum length of cut that you can measure.

23 Fig. 22 LUBRICA TION See Figure 22. This tool has been properly lubricated and is ready to use. It is recommended that the gears be lubricated only with Mobil SHC 636 Oil. After extended use, check the oil level, using the dipstick provided. CHECKING THE OIL Unplug the tool.
