5 EN Installing Y our Smart Oven This Smart Oven can be placed almost anywhere (kitchen work surface or shelf, mova ble trolley, table). ☛ Never block the air vents as the oven may overh eat and automatically switch itself off. It will remain inoperable until it has cooled sufficiently.
6 EN Selecting the Display W eight The weight unit of this oven has been set in “Grams” Ho w a Smart Oven W orks The oven uses fan oven, grill and microwave functionality. These functions can be used inde pendently; while the fan oven and microwave functionality can be co mbined for combination cookin g.

11 EN Cooking/Reheating The following procedure explains how to cook or re heat food using the microwave mode. Open the door. Place the food in the centre of the turntable.
12 EN Using the More/less function The More/Less function allows you to adjust pre-set cooking time to suit your own taste. This function only works in SCANNING mode within 30 seconds of pressing the Start button. Using the Defrost F eature The Defrost( ) feature enables you to defrost meat, poultry, fish, bread.
13 EN Using the Defrost F e ature (continued) The following table presents th e various Defrost programmes, quantities, standing ti mes and appropriate recomm endations. Remove all kind of package material before defrosting . Place meat, poultry and fish on a microwave proof plate.
14 EN Cooking by F a n Oven The Fan Oven mode enables you to co ok food in the same way as in a traditional oven. The microwave m ode is not used. You can set the temperature, as required, in a rang e varying from 100°C to 25 0°C in eight preset lev els.
15 EN Choosing the Heating Element P osit ion The heating element is used when coo king food by fan oven, grilling . • Horizontal position for cookin g and grilling ☛ Only change the position of the heating element when it is cold and do not apply excessive force when plac ing it in the vertical position.
16 EN Combining Micro waves and F an Oven Combination cooking uses both microwave energy and fan oven heating. No preheating is required as the microwave energy is immediately available.
17 EN Safety-loc king Y our Smart Oven Your Smart Oven is fitt ed with a special Child Saf ety programme, which enables the oven to be “locked” so that children or anyone unfamiliar with it canno t operate it accidentally. The oven can be locked at any time .
18 EN Cookware Guide To cook food in the Smart Oven, the micro waves must be able to penetrate the food, without being reflected or absorbed by the dish used. Care must therefore be taken wh en choosing the cookware . If the cookware is marked microwave-safe, you do not need to worry.
19 EN Cooking Guide MICROWAVES Microwave energy act ually penetr ates food, attr acted and absorbed by its water, f at and sugar content. The microwaves cause t he molecules in the food t o move rapidly. The rapid movement of these molecule s creates fricti on and the resulti ng heat cooks the food .

22 EN Cooking Guide (continued) DEFROSTING Microwaves are an excel lent way of defros ting frozen food . Microwaves gently de frost frozen food in a sh ort period of time. This can be of great advan tage, if unexpect ed guests suddenly sh ow up. Frozen poultry must be thoroughly tha wed before cooking.
23 EN Cooking Guide (continued) GRILL The grill-heating element is lo cated underneath the r oof of the cavity . It operates while the door is clos ed and the turntabl e is rotating. The t urntable’s ro tation makes the foo d brown more evenly. Preh eating the gril l for 4 minutes will make the food brown mor e quickly.
