4 .7 < Loading origi nals and print med ia> Loading p aper Loading p a per in tray 1, opt ional tray or optional high cap acity feeder Load the print media you use for the majority of your print jobs in the tray 1. The tray 1 can hold a maximum of 520 sheets of 80 g/m 2 (20 lb bond) plain paper .
4 .8 < Loading origi nals and print med ia> In the multi-purpose tray The multi-purpose tray can hold specia l sizes and types of print material, such as transparencies, postcards, note cards, and envelopes. It is useful for single page printing on letterhead or colored paper .
4 .9 < Loading origi nals and print med ia> 4 Squeeze the multi-pu rpose tray pape r width guid es and adjust the m to the width of the paper . Do not force too much, or the paper will be bent, which will result i n a paper jam or skew. 5 After loading paper , set the paper type and size for the multi- purpose tray .

5 .2 < Copying> Image tab • Erase Edge : Allows you to erase punch holes, staple marks, and fold creases along any of the four documents edges. (Page 5.9) • Erase Background : Prints an image with no backgroun d. (Page 5.9) • Margin Shif t : Creates a binding edge for the document.
5 .3 < Copying> Changing the size of originals Press the Basic tab > Original Size , then use left/right arrows to set the original size. Press more to see the detail values. • Custom : Selects the scanning area of the original. Press the cardinal point arrows to set the size.
5 .4 < Copying> • 2 -> 1 Sided, Rot ate Side 2 : Scans both sides of the original and prints each one on a separate sheet, but the information on the back side of the printout is rotated 180 degree. • Reverse 1 -> 2 Side d : Scans originals and prints them on both sides of a paper .
5 .5 < Copying> Changing the darkness This defines the degree of darkness. Us e left/right arrows to change the level of light/dark in the printouts. Using special copy features On the Advan ced t ab or the Image tab of the Copy screen, you can select specific copy features.

6 .5 < Faxing (Optiona l)> • If you do not enter Job Name , the machine assigns the job name as 'Fax Send Job xxx'. 'xxx' number are set in order . Note Start Tim e is the specific time you want the fa x to be sent. Y ou can set Start Ti me on a 24 hour basis and 15 minu tes later than the current time.
6 .6 < Faxing (Optiona l)> Receiving faxes manually using an extension telephone This feature works best when you are using an extension teleph one connected to the EXT socket on the back of your machine. Y ou can receive a fax from someone you are talking to on the extension telephone, without going to the fax machine.
6 .7 < Faxing (Optiona l)> Adjusting the document settings Before sending a fax, you can adjust the document settings, such as resolution, darkness, color , duplex a nd so forth. Refer to explanation of this section. Note The document setting herein is for only current job.

6 .9 < Faxing (Optiona l)> 7 Press Apply . Note S p eed Dial numbers can be imported from an *.csv file. Using the polling option Polling is used when one fax machine requ ests another to send a document. This is useful when the person with the original document is not in the office.
6 .10 < Faxing (Opt ional)> Polling from a remote Ma ilbox This option allows you to retrieve (poll) a fax which is stored in the Mailbox of on the remote machine. Before you start polling, you must be informed of Mailbox No. and Passcode from the sender.

6 .12 < Faxing (Opt ional)> Sending a fax in toll save time Y ou can se t the machine to send a fa x in toll save time to save a telephone fee. If you send a fa x after setting this feature, fax data will be stored in machine's memory and the machi ne will start to send fax in toll save time.
6 .13 < Faxing (Opt ional)> Forwarding a sent fax to oth e r destination by an email Note If Forward to Server Setting is on, this op tion will be grayed ou t. 1 Press Machine Setup on the control panel. 2 Press Admin Setting . When the login message pops up, enter password and press OK .
6 .14 < Faxing (Opt ional)> Setting up the end fax tone The end fax tone that sounds to indicate that the fax has been received can be turned on or off. 1 Press Machine Setup on the control panel. 2 Press Admin Setting . When the login message pops up, enter password and press OK .
7 .1 < Scanning> 7 Scanning Scanning with your machine lets you turn hard copy originals into digital files. There are two ways to scan originals, one is using the USB cable to directly connect the machine with your computer, and the other is using the network scan feature which scans and sends to a specific destination via the network.
7 .2 < Scanning> • Options : - Original Size : Set s the originals to a specific fi xed size. (Page 7.9) - Original T ype :Selects whether the original is text or photo. (Page 7.9) - Color Mode : Adjust s the color options of the scan output. If the original is color and you want to scan in colo r , press Color Mode .

7 .8 < Scanning> Scanning originals and sending via SMB/ FTP (Scan to Server) Y ou can scan an image and send i t to a total of 5 destinations via the SMB or FTP . Prep aration for scanning to SMB/FTP Select the folder and share it with the machine in order to receive the scanned file.
7 .9 < Scanning> Changing the scan feature settings This part explains how to adjust the document settings fo r each scan job, such as resolution, duplex, ori ginal size, type, color mode, darkness, and more. The options you change will be maintained for a certain time, but after that period, the options will b e reset to default values.
7 .10 < Scanning> Color Mode Use this option to scan the original in Mono , Gray or Color mode. Press Scan to Server > the Image tab > Color Mode . Or , Press Scan to Email > the Options tab > Color Mode . Or . Press Scan to PC > the Image tab > Color Mode .

9 .2 < Using USB flash memory > Scanning to an USB memory device Y ou can sca n a document and save the scanned image onto a USB memory device. When you scan a document, the machine uses the default settings such as the resoluti on. Y ou can also customize your own scan setting.

10 .1 < Machine status and a dvanced setup> 10 Machine status and advanced setup This chapter explains how to browse the current status of your machin e, and the method of setting for the advanced machine setup. Please read this chapter carefully in order to use your machine's diverse features.

10 .6 < Machine status and a dvanced setup> Prefix Dial This feature allows you to set a prefix of up to five digits. This number will be dialed before any automatic number is dialed. User may set this to access a P ABX(example 9 ) or area code number (example 02).

10 .9 < Machine status and a dvanced setup> Auto Color Registration The machine virtually print s certain patterned image to calibrate the color prin ting position. This feature enhances the colored image sharper and clearer, which means the machine prints the colored image on the paper more like the one in the monitor .

11 .1 < Maintenance> 11 Maintenance This chapter provides information for maintaining your machine. This chapter includes: • Printing a machine report • Monitoring the suppli es life • Fin.
11 .2 < Maintenance> Sending the toner reorder notification Y ou can set the ma chine to alert you that the toner cartridge needs to be reordered. 1 Press Machine Setup on the control panel. 2 Press Admin S etti ng . When the login message pops up, then enter password and press OK .
11 .3 < Maintenance> Maint aining the toner cartridge T oner cartridge storage T oner cartridges contain components that are sensitive to li ght, temperature, and humidity . Samsung suggests users follow the recommendations to ensure the opti mum performanc e, highest quality , and longest life from your new Samsung toner cartridg e.
11 .4 < Maintenance> T oner particles can be released insi de the machine but it does not mean the machine is damaged. Contact a service representative when print quality problems occur . 4 Pull the corresponding toner cartridge out from the machine .
11 .5 < Maintenance> 3 Open the front cover . 4 Pull the corresponding toner cartridge out from the machine . 5 Remove the new toner cartridge from its bag. 6 Thoroughly roll the new cartridge five or six times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.
11 .6 < Maintenance> Replacing the imaging unit Expected cartridge lif e The useful life of the imaging uni t is approx imately 30,000 pages. The screen displays Replace [xxx] Imaging Unit when the imaging unit is near the end of life. Otherwis e your printer stops printing.
11 .7 < Maintenance> Caution Don’t use sharp objects, such as a knife or scissors, to open the imaging unit package. Y o u could damage the surface of the imaging unit. 8 Remove the paper protecting the surface of the imaging uni t. 9 Remove the cap, and carefull y pull the seal tapes out of the imag ing unit.
11 .8 < Maintenance> Replacing the waste toner cont ainer The life of the waste toner container unit is app roximately 48,000 images printing. When the l ife span of t he waste toner contai ner has expire d, W aste t an k is full.
