Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted Understanding this User Manual The chapters of this manual gene rally follow the same order as the menus and sub-menus in your phone. A robust index for quick reference to most fe atures begins on page 138.
5 Batter y I ndicato r The battery indica tor in the up per -right corner of the display indicates battery po wer level. Four bars indi cate a full charge, while an empty icon indicate s an almost empty ba ttery. T wo to three minutes befo re the batter y becomes too lo w to operate, a blinking empty batte ry icon appears and a tone sounds.
Getting Started 6 2. Insert the top end of the ba ttery into the phone housing using the directional arrow prin ted on the battery . The gold contacts at the batter y end m ust align with contacts on the phone. Push bottom e nd of the battery down until it snaps into place.
7 3. Slide the batter y cover up until it sna ps into place. Charging the Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable standard Li-ion batter y . Only use Samsung-approved ch arging devices a nd batteries. Samsung accessories are designed to maximize battery life.

15 EV1X signal strength : The EVDO/1X protocol is capable of high-speed broadband data (3G). Appears when yo ur phone is on and indicates the current signal strength. More bars indicate a stronger signal. D signal strength : Appears when your phon e is receiving digital da ta.

Entering T ext 38 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to sele ct the desired te xt input mode when entering characters into your phone. This section also describes how to use Word text entry system to reduce the amount of key st rokes associated with entering t ext.
