Getting Started 7 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to star t using your SCH-r300 phone by activating your service, setting up your Voicemail, or getting an understanding of how this manual is put together .

With the phon e on, enter the n umber you wish t o call using the keypad.

This means you do not need to “t rain” your phone to understand your voice.

22 Answ ering a Call Incomin g When you receive a call, the phone displays one of the follo wing: • If the caller can be identified, the caller’ s number (or name if it’ s in your Contacts) appears in the display .

26 Call Timer View the duration of yo ur last call, total ca lls, and calls made during the life of yo ur phone using the Call timer feature. Note: Call timer is not for bi lling purposes. 1. In standby mode, press MENU ➔ Calls ➔ Call T imer . The Call T imer screen appears in the display wi th the first timer in the list highlighted.

Entering T ext 29 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to sele ct the de sired t e xt entry mode when entering characters usi ng the phone keypad. This section also describes how to use the T9 predicti ve text entry syst em to reduce the number of key strokes need ed to enter te xt.
30 Using T9® Mode T9 Word recognizes commonly used words for the numeric sequence of key presse s and inserts the word into your message. T9 Word is much faster tha n the tradit ional method o f text entry (Abc) and requires only one key pres s per letter of the word that you’re spelling.
Entering T ext 31 Entering Symbols Enter symbols such as “@ ” or “%” into a text message. 1. While composing a text messa ge, press the Left soft key , use the Navigation key to h ighlight Symbols , then press . The first of three symbol screens a ppea rs in the display .
32 Section 6: Understanding Y our Contacts This section details how you can ma nage your daily contacts by storing their names and numbers in your Contacts list. Y ou can have your Contacts en tries sorted by name. Contacts Up to 500 entries can be stored in Contacts.

V oice SVC Options Y our SCH-r300 includes VoiceSigna l, state-of-t he-art voice recognition soft ware that lets you use your voice to dial numb ers, access your Contacts list, and open T ools.
