Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Started Understanding this User Manual The chapters of this manual gene rally follow the same order a s the menus and sub-menus in your phone. A robu st index for quick reference to most fe atures begins on p age 127.
5 Batt ery I ndicat or The battery indicator in th e upper-right corner of th e display indicates battery power leve l. Four bars indicate a full charge, while an em pty icon indicates an almost empty battery. Two to three minutes be fore the ba ttery becomes t oo low to operate, a blin king empty battery icon appears and a tone sounds.
Getting Started 6 2. Insert the top end of th e ba ttery into the phone housing using the directional arrow printed on the battery . The gold contacts at the battery end m ust al ign with c ontacts on the phone. Push bottom e nd of the battery down until it snaps into plac e.
7 2. Lift the batte ry from the bo ttom end (see arrow 1) and remove. 3. Slide the batte ry cover up until it snaps into place. Char ging t he Batt ery Your phone is powered by a rechar geable standard Li-ion battery. Only use Samsung-approved char ging devices and batteries .
Getting Started 8 Travel Charger The travel charger i s a convenient, light-weight charger that rapidly charges your phone from any 12 0/ 220 VAC outlet. 1. Pull th e connector cover ou t and turn to expose th e connector. Insert the travel charger adapter end with th e arrow up into the connector at the bottom of the phone.
9 Note: Once your voicemail account has been set up, you can use the voicemail selection 5 (under the Messaging menu) to view details of voice messages in your voicemail box. Voicemail Setup 1. Press and hold or from your phone or dial yo ur wireless phone number from any touch-tone phon e.

15 Understanding the Display Screen The top line of your phone’s display contain icon s that indicate network status, battery power, signal strength, co nnection type and more. The black area of t he home screen shows icons t hat indica te feature and function status.
Understanding Yo ur Phone 1 6 Bottom Display Icons No servi ce : Your ph one cannot fi nd a signal because you’ re outside a service area. You ca nnot make or receive ca lls. Wait for a signal or move to an open area to find a signal. Thi s indicator always appears when you first turn on your phone and disappears once service is located.

Call Functions 18 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer a ca ll. It also includes the features and functional ity associated with ma king or answering a call. Making a Call 1. From the home screen, enter the number to call using the numeric keypad and press .

Call Functions 22 Deleting Call History Entries 1. From the home screen, press then press the Directional key up or down until the desired number is highlighted. Press the right soft key Options . A pop- up menu appears in the display . 2. Press the Direc tional key down to highlight Erase and press .
23 Roaming What is Ro aming? Your phone can roam on other compati ble digital network s. Roaming occurs when you travel outside a pre-designate d coverage area. The ro aming icon displays when roaming is active and extra charges may apply wh en making or re ceiving calls.
Call Functions 24 • Choice List : If Voic e Com ma nds is not abs olute ly conf ident th at it has corr ectly id entified a name or nu mber, it can display a choice lis t of up to three po ssibili ties, and prompt you to confirm t he corr ect one.
25 • Lookup<Name> : Open the contact re cord for any name in your Contacts List. • Go To <Menu>: Open any applica tion installed on your de vice. • Check <Item> : Provides details of yo ur phone status, v oicemail, messages, m issed calls, time , signal strength, battery le vel, and volume le vel.

Send Picture Send Picture allows you to ac cess the Picture Messaging menu. You can use entries stored in My Pictures or you can take a picture of an image using the camera.

37 Section 5: Entering Text This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text input mode when entering characters into yo ur phone. Th is section al so describes how to use Word text entry system to reduce the amount of key stro kes associated with en tering text.
Entering Text 38 Now, for practice, enter the word “Hello” into your message by pressing each of the followi ng keys only once Word recognizes that the most frequently used word for the sequence of numbers entered. The word you just entered is “HELLO.

51 Section 7: Messaging This section allows yo u to send or receive different types of messages. It also includes the feat ures and functionalit y associated wi th messaging. Types of Messages Your phone is capable of sending Email, text, and pictur e messages.
Messaging 52 6. Press the key to m ove to the Text field. In th e text field, compose your messa ge using the keypad. At any point while composi ng a message , press the left soft key Abc or the right soft key Options soft keys to display additional options.
53 3. Press New Message . 4. Press Picture Message . 5. Enter the phone number or Email address of the recipient. At any point whil e entering yo ur recipient(s) phone number or Email address, pre ss the left soft key 123 or t he right soft key Add soft keys for a dditional options.

Messaging 56 Retrieving New Messages While text messages fr om other phones are de livered directly to your phone, Picture mes sages and Email will be stored in the Inbox of the me ssage server and t he server will alert you to new messages. Therefore you need to retrieve new messages to your phone and read them on the phone.
57 2. After loadi ng, the ima ge (and text if any) contai ned in th e Picture Message appears in the display. 3. Press the Di rectional k ey up or down to scroll through the message or view t he en tire picture if necessary. 4. Press the left soft key Mute/Unm ute (while an attached sound byte is playi ng), or the r ight soft key Options .
Messaging 58 Note: For the option Reject to appear in the display when you receive a Voice Message, Pic-Voice Auto Receive mode must be set to Off in the Message Settings menu. The default Pic-Voice Auto Receive value is set to On. 1. When you receive a new Voice Message, p ress Yes .
59 Note: Text messages can only be viewed during a call. Picture messages can not be downloaded during a call. 2. You can view a text message without disconn ecting your call by pressing the right soft key Options. Sele ct Messaging > Messag ing > Inbox and press .
Messaging 60 – Save Quick T ext : Saves the text received in the message to th e Quick Text list. – Lock/Unlock : Locks or unlock s the entry to prevent ac cidental deletion. – Add To Contacts : Saves the nu mber of the sen der to you r Contacts as a new entry or add to an existin g entry.

65 Erase Option s You can erase unlocked me ssages in your Inbox, Dra fts fold er, or Sent folder. Locked me ssages are not erased. To erase messages: 1. From th e Messaging menu, press Options . 2. The follo wing opti ons are av ailable: • Erase Inbox : Eras es unlocked message s in yo ur Inbox .
Messaging 66 • Signature : Adds t he sign ature t ext to each message s ent. Choose from N one or Cus tom. Voicemail New voicem ail alerts are se nt via a free Tex t message. These messages indicate how many new and u rgent voicemails are in your voice m ailbox.
