Your P hone 11 Key (s) Desc ription In Menu mode, scro lls through the menu opti ons. When e nterin g text, m ov es the cursor up and down, d epend ing on the dir ect ion o f the key you pre ssed. In Idle mode, a llows you to access your favourite menu op tions dir ectly .

Your P hone 13 Displ ay Display Layout The display h as three areas : Area Description First line Displays v arious icons. See page 14. Middle lines Displays messages, instructions, and any information that you enter , such as the nu mber you are dialling .
Your P hone 14 Icons Icon Desc riptio n Shows the rece ive d signal strength. The greater the nu mb er of b a rs, the stron g er the sig nal. Appears w hen the IrD A port is active. F o r detai l s, see page 134. Appears when y ou set an alarm to ring at a specified time.
Your P hone 15 Back li gh t The backlight illuminates the display and the keyp ad. W hen you press an y k e y or open the phone, the backlight come s on. It goes off when no keys are presse d within a given period of time, dependi ng on you r set ti ng i n the Back light menu.
Your P hone 16 External Displa y Y our phone has an external display on the front of the phone. It indicates when you have an incoming call or a message. It also alerts you at a specified time when yo u hav e set an alarm. The backlight turns on and the corresponding icon appe ars on the external display .
17 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card When y ou subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a pl ug-in SIM card l oaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, any optional services av ailable, and so on.
Getting Started 18 3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card sock e t, as shown, so that the card locks into position. Make su re tha t the m etal contacts of the card face into the p h one . Note : When y ou need to remo v e the SIM card, slide it upward, as shown, and take it out of the socket.

Call Functions 24 Makin g a Ca ll from t he Con t acts List Y ou can store t he phone numbers that you use regularly on the SIM card or in the phone’ s memory . These entries are co llectively called Cont acts. Once you have stored a number in Contacts, you can dial it by pressing a few keys.

Note : If you can’t remember a locat ion number , you must g o into the Contacts li st menu to search fo r the ent ry by name.
Call Functions 27 Adjusting the Volume During a call, if you want to adjust the earpiece volu me, us e the V olume ke ys o n the l ef t s ide of t he phon e. Press the key to increase the volum e l evel and the key to de crease the leve l. In Idle mode, you can also adjust the keypad tone volu me usin g th ese ke ys.
Call Functions 28 Answering a Ca ll When som ebod y calls you, the pho ne rings and displays the incoming call image. The caller’s phone num ber or name, if stored in Conta cts, disp la ys . 1. If necessary , open the phone. Press the key or the Accept soft key to answer the incom ing call.
Call Functions 29 Viewing Mi ssed Call s When y ou are un ab le to answ er a call for any reason, you can find out who called you so that you can call the person back. The number of calls you have m issed displays on the idle screen immediately after a call is missed.

Options Du ring a Call 43 Muting or Sending Key Tones The Mute keys and Send keys opti ons al low you to turn the k ey tone s off or on. If th e Mute keys option is selected, y our pho ne does not tran smit the D TMF (Dual T one M ulti-Frequency) tones of t he keys, which a ll ows you to pres s keys without hearing annoying key tones during a call.

Messages 78 Using the MM S feature, your phone can receiv e and send MMS me ssage s that co ntain multime dia files, such as your photos, sounds and images you down loaded from the I nternet, an d v oice m emo s you recorde d. In ad di tion , y o ur pho n e supports the Enhanced Messag ing Service (EMS) , which enables you to include simple pictures, melodies, and animated images in your messages.

Messages 88 Viewing a Message from th e Inbox When y ou access the MMS menu, the list of MMS messages y ou hav e received display s al ong with the subjects. The icon s on the left tell you the status of the messages: • : Message notifications that have been opened.
Messages 89 4. Press the or key to scroll to the previous or next message. While viewing a message, you can access the message o ptions b y pressing the Options soft key . If you are viewing a message notification, the options are the same as when y o u view a message at the time of its receipt.
Messages 90 SMS This message box is used to store m essages that you have received. When y ou enter this menu, the list of messages in the box displa ys with the senders ’ pho ne nu m bers or names, if available in your C ontacts. 1. Select a message from the list and press the Centre key .
Messages 91 Move to SIM : allow s you to m ove the message from the phone’ s memory to the SIM card . This option is only available when yo u select a me ssage stored in the phone’ s memory . Select objects : allows you to save media objects, such as sounds or images, from the m essag e into your phone.
Messages 92 Delet e : allows y ou to delete the message. Extract.. . : extra cts the d estin ation nu m bers or addresses of the message and the URL, e-mail addresses, and phone numb er from the me ssage text. Properties : show s the information about t he message.
Messages 93 Select objects : allows you to save media objects, such as sounds or images, from the m essag e into your phone. Y ou can use the obje cts when writing a message . Messages 95 Temp lat es In this menu, you can use message tem plates to easily and quickly create a new messag e. MMS templates This menu stores messages y ou hav e sa v ed as templates so that yo u can use them to mak e new messages. Y our phone has three prese t message te mp lates.
Messages 96 Send : allows you to write a new message using the message tem plate. Delet e : allows you to delete the messag e temp late. Y ou are asked to confirm the de letion by pressing the Yes soft key or the Centre k e y .
Messages 97 The fo ll owing op ti ons a re avail able : Selec t : use to enable or disable channels o n the list by marking or unmarki ng them, respectively . A check mark display s in front of each selected channel. Add channel : use to enter the ID and title for a new channel.
