5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to st art using your phone by first configuring your hard ware, activating your service, and then setting up your voice mail. Setting Up Y our Phone Prior to use it is necess ary to install both the battery and SIM int o their corresponding internal comp artments.
Getting Started 6 Note: If the card is not inserted correctly , the phone does not detect the SIM card. Re-orient the card back into the slot if the SIM is not detected. Inst alli ng the Memor y Car d Y our phone also supports the use of a memor y card (microSD™) for data storage of such things as data, music, pictures, and video fil es.
7 3. Place the batter y cover onto the back of the phone and press down (1). 4. Press down on the bottom of the phone (2) unt il you hear a light click. Note: Make sure the battery is properly installed before s witching on the phone. Charging a Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rech argeable Li-ion batt ery .
Getting Started 8 2. Plug the data cable into the ba se piece provided and into the Power/Accessor y Interfac e connector on your phone. 3. Plug the base piece into a standard AC wall outlet. 4. When the battery is fully charged, the phone displays a message telling you the batt ery is full.

17 • Music Player : allows you to launch the Music Player while using the handset for other tasks. If an inc oming call is received or yo u want to make a call, the Music Player is muted. • Games : allows you to quickly access Games while using the hands et for other tasks.
Menu Navigation 18 Section 3: Menu Na vigation This section explains the menu na vigation for your phone. Y our phone has done away with the ne ed for navigation wheels or keypads. Y our phone is com ple tely navigabl e by either an on-screen touch or scroll.
19 Navigating T hr ough t he Main Menus Y our phone originally has thre e main menus, but you can add seven more main men us for a total o f ten. Some icons can be deleted and re placed with new icons. 1. From the Idle screen, touch . Main menu is disp layed .

Menu Navigation 28 W idget Bar Navigatio n Y ou can drag the widgets to the desktop (Idle Scre en) to use the application or feature, then dra g it back to the Widget Bar when you are finished. There are thr ee different widg et desktops you can use. Y ou can have different widgets on all t hree desktops.

Call Functions 32 Cor re cting an Enter ed Number Use the following steps to co rrect a mis-typed entry when dialing. 1. After entering a numbe r using th e keypad . • If you make a mistake , touch to erase a si ngle charac ter . • Press and hold to erase t he entire string of numbers.
33 Making a Call Using Speed Dial Y ou can assign a short cut numbe r to a phone number for speed dialing. 1. T ouch ➔ Address Book ➔ Address Book Settings ➔ Speed Dial . 2. The Speed Dial screen displays showing the numbers 1 through 9. The number 1 is reserved for Voice Mail .

After ending the call, the phone returns to the previously active function screen. 35 Dialing Options From the Idle screen and Main menu, you have t he option to access the Dial er and initiate a c all by touchin g . When you manually ente r numbers from th e Dialer , you will see th ree dialing opti ons displayed on the screen. • Call : dials the current number entered using the o n-screen keypad.

Entering T ext 44 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to sele ct the desired text entry mode when entering characters using the QWERTY keyboard-style keypad. This section also describes how to use the T9 predictive text entry system to reduce the nu m ber of key strokes ne eded to enter text.
45 Changing the T ext Input Mode - K eypad There are three main keypad la yout keys that wi ll change the on- screen keys within the QWERTY key pad. The available T ext Input modes are: T9 , 123Sym , and Abc . Refer to the T ext Input mode in the uppe r right hand corner to identify which mode you are currently in.

65 Connectivity The phone has severa l communication/c onnection parameters which can be edited. Bluetooth Bluetooth is a shor t-range wireless comm unications technology capable of exchanging information over a di stance of a bout 30 feet without requiring a physical connection.

T o uch Ye s or No to enable or disa ble the visibility (discoverabi lity) of your phone. • Y our ph one become s visible to other de vices when you transmit your device’ s name to others in your area.
67 These services reduce the chance that incompatible dev ices are allowed to connect to your phone. • Headset : a Bluetooth headset enables both incoming and outgoing calls using Bluetooth headsets. • Handsfree : a Bluetooth car kit or spe akerphone enables both incoming and outgoing calls.

73 Note: Memory card is optional. Formatting the Memor y Car d Allows you to format your memo r y card. All information on the memory c ard will be removed and new folders will be created for your content. New folders include Music, T ones, Recorded Audio, Picture, Video, and Other Files.

This information may be necessary if talking to Customer Service in the event of a problem.
