Y our Phone 4 Phone Layout Open View of Y our Phone The following illu strations show the main elements of your phone: 1. The LCD Display screen displays the time and date, messages and numbers, as well as the current function of the left and rig ht soft keys.
Y our Phone 5 5. In Idle mode, press and hold the key is used to acti vate/ deactivate Quiet mode. In te xt entry mode, the key is used to insert a space. Pr ess and hold the key to swit ch to Symbol mode. 6. The Alphanumeric keys enter numbers, letters, and some special characters.

Getting S tarted 11 Getting Started Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular ne twork, a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN and other optional serv ices. Removing the Batter y 1. If necessary , power -off the phone by holding down the key until the power-off imag e displays.
Getting S tarted 12 3. Remove the battery by lifting up, as shown. Installing the SIM Card Note: Important! The plu g-in SIM card and its co ntacts can be eas ily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inser ting or removing the card and keep all SIM cards out of reach from children.
Getting S tarted 13 Removing the SIM Card T o remove the SIM card, slide it awa y from the handset. See the following illustration. Installing the Battery 1. Align the battery so that the 3 br ass tabs on the end align with the 3 brass prongs at the bottom of the battery compartment.
Getting S tarted 14 2. Press the battery down until it c licks into place. Make sure that the battery is properly insta lled before switching on the phone. Charging a Battery Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable Li-ion battery . Use the travel adapter to charge the ba ttery , and use only Samsung approved batteries and chargers.

Call Functions 17 Call Functions Selecting Functions and Options The roles of th e soft keys vary depending on the function you are currently using. The labels on th e bottom line of the display just above each key in dicate their current role. The Left soft key can be used in several differ ent ways.
Call Functions 18 Back option. This action is shown in the bottom right corner of the Display Screen. ♦ In some functions , you may be as ked for a password or PIN. Enter the code and press the OK soft key . Note: When you access a list of options, your phone highligh ts the current option.
Call Functions 19 Making a Call When the idle screen displays , enter the area code and phone number , then press the key . Note: When you activate the Auto Redial option in the Extra Settings menu ( Menu 9.2.5 ), the phone automatically redials up to te n times when the person does not answer the call or is already on t he phone.
Call Functions 20 Redialling the Last Number The phone stores the nu mbers you have dialed, rece ived or missed if the caller is identified. See “C all History” on page 58 for further details. T o recall any of these numbers: 1. If you have type d characters on th e display , press either the Back soft key or t he key to return to Idle m ode.
Call Functions 21 Making a Call from Contact list Y ou can store the phone numbers th at you use regula rly in the SIM card or the phone’ s memory , which are collectively called Contact List . Simply select a name to recall the as sociated number .
Call Functions 22 ♦ T o reject the call, press and hold one of the side Volume keys , or press the Reject soft key or key . A quick press of the side V olume keys silences the ringer for the incoming call. 3. End the call by pressing the key . Note: You can answer a call while using the Contact list or menu f eatures.

Quiet mode Quiet mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone from making noise, such as when you are in a thea ter , for example.
Options During a Call 25 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of fe atures that you can use during a call. Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want. Y ou can make another call while you have a call in progress if your network supports this service.

Entering T ext 30 Entering T ext When using your pho ne, you will ofte n need to enter tex t, such as when storing a name in the Cont act list, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events on you r calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’ s keypad.

Media 95 ♦ Tim er : allows you to set a ti me delay before the camera start s recording a video. Select the le ngth of delay you want. When you press the key . The camera begi ns recording a video after the specified time. ♦ Go to Video : allows you to go to the Video menu.
Media 96 ♦ Share for Bluetooth: allows other Bluetooth-enabled devices within range to download copies of your video. ♦ Protection : prevents a video in your video album from being accidentally dele ted. Y ou must unprotect a video before it can be deleted.
