Getting Started 6 Activating Y our Phone 2. Carefully lift t he battery cover away from the bottom of th e phone. 3. Carefully slide the SIM card under the metal bracket and into the SI M card socket until the card locks into place.
7 Inser ting th e Memor y Car d Y our phone supports an optional memory card (microSD ™) for data storage of such things as music, pictures, vide o or other files. This type of memory card is designed for use with this mobile phone and other devices.
Getting Started 8 Activating Y our Phone 2. Gently lift upward on the edge of the memory card cover . 3. Place the microS D card into th e slot (as shown below). Ensure the microSD’ s gold contact pins face do wnward and the card is placed so that the indentations on the c ard face the same direc tion as those illustrated.

21 Backlight A backlight il luminates the displ ay and the keypad. When you press any key, the backlight comes on. It goes off when no keys are pressed within a giv en period of time, depending on the setting within the Back light menu. The display turns off after one mi nute to co nserve battery power .

Wi-Fi 26 Using Wi-Fi If you have a T -Mobile router , select Ye s . This action acquire s the security key or passphrase so that you are not re quired to manually ty pe it into your phone. If you do not have a T -Mobile router , select No . Y ou are then required to enter your key or passphrase.
27 The signal bars are always visible when a ca ll is active. The ba rs change correctly when you are on a call to indic ate which networ k you are on. Wi-Fi 30 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks • V iew details : Displays the details for the currently highlighted Wi-Fi network. This also inc ludes the MA C address of the p hone if needed for MAC addr ess filtering. • Save : Save s the selected network to your Saved Networks List .

Wi-Fi 32 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks Quick Connect Select the Quick Connect option from the Wi-Fi menu to scan for any avai lable preferred or open Wi-Fi network and connect to the network with the best signal strength.
33 T ur n Wi-Fi On/Off Select the T urn Wi-Fi ON/OFF option from the Wi-Fi menu to activa te/deactiv ate the Wi-Fi feature. Y our phone's de fault state is Wi-Fi On (Act ive Mode). Wi-Fi should be left on to take advanta ge of the seamless transfer between regular c ellular networks.
Wi-Fi 34 Use Get Security Key For T -Mobile routers without encryption en able d, following this sequence turns on WP A and sends the security key to your T -Mobile phone. If encryption is enabled, the light is constantly lit on the T -Mobile router , and the curre nt router settings are sent to the phon e.
35 Y ou can also ente r a security key manuall y in the phone. If connec ting via available networks, the phone prompts you to enter the k ey for WEP or passphrase f or WP A. Y ou can also follow the st eps for manually adding a network seen in a subs equent section of the manual.

Call Functions 44 Silent Mode Call time This menu lets you view the time lo g for calls both ma de and received. Note: The actual time invoiced by T-Mobile may differ fr om times displayed due to network feat ures and servic e plan. The following tim e logs are availabl e: • Last call time : shows the length of your last call.
45 Soft Keys The roles of the soft keys vary dependi ng on the function you are currently using. The labels on the bottom line of the display just above each key indicate t heir current role. Storing a Number in the Phone’s Memor y The default storage location for saving phone numbers to your phonebook is your phone’ s built-in memor y .

75 Own Number This function is a memory aid, which yo u can use to check your own phone number if you need to do so. Y ou can assign a name to each of your own phon e nu mbers registered on your SIM card. Y ou can also edit th e names and numbers. Any chan ges made here do not in any way affect the actual subsc ri ber numbers on your SIM card.

Messages 78 T ext Messages T ext Messages Short Messag e Servic e (SMS) allows yo u to send and receive short text messages to and from other mobile phones. In addi tion, your phone supports the Enhanced Messaging Ser vice (EMS), which e nables yo u to include simple graphics, melodies, and animated images in your messages.
79 • Attach : allows you to attach a Name card, Schedule, Anniversary item, Miscellaneous item, or T ask to your message. • Save to Drafts : save the message to your Phone or SIM card. • Select language : allows you to set the language to English, Français, and Español.
Messages 80 Picture Messages Note: A Picture Messa ging message i s a multimedia prese ntation contained in a single file. It is not a text file with attachments. Y ou must first retrieve a picture messag e from T -Mobile’s network before you can view the message.

Messages 84 Inbox When you ente r the Inbox, the lis t of messages displays with the sender’ s phone numbers, or names, if available in your Ph onebook. Af ter you re ad the message, the open envelope icon displays. Tip: Press the Le ft or Right Navigation keys to scroll between Inbox , Outbox , and Drafts .
85 • Forward : allows you to forward the message to another number . • Save address : allows you to extract the sender’ s number and URL, email addresses or phone numbers from the message text, so that you can sa ve them in your phone’ s memor y .
