Emergency operation Emergency operation is available when the remote controller malfunctions, has been lost, or otherwise cannot be used. • The set temperature is 4°F(2°C) below the detected room temperature in the case of cooling operation.
HIGH POWER NIGHT SETBACK Lamp colors Ti mer backup This function acts to raise the power but keeps the AC system in the same operating mode. This function is set with the HIGH POWER button on the remote controller . (It can be set regardless of the temperature and fan speed settings.
The noise reducing control is the function used for silent operation of the air conditioner by means of setting the dip switch on the outdoor unit P.C.
The maximum current value is changed to 14A (for C3082) or 17A (for C3682) to prevent power breaker tripping. (It is set to 24A when the unit is delivered from the factory.) <Maximum Current Value Change Procedure> (1) Remove the inspection panel.
Compressor discharge temperature control Freeze prevention During COOL or D RY operation, freezing is detected and operation is stopped when the temperature of the indoor heat exchanger matches the conditions below . 1. Freeze-prevention operation is engaged when the temperature of the indoor heat exchanger is below 41°F(5°C).
8. TROUBLESHOOTING 8-1. Precautions before Performing Inspection or Repair NOTE After checking the self-diagnostics monitor , turn the power OFF before starting inspection or repair . High-capacity electrolytic capacitors are used inside the outdoor unit controller (inverter).

8-4-2. Outdoor Fan Motor This outdoor DC fan motor contains an internal control PCB. Therefore, it is not possible to measure the coil resistance, and the following procedure should be used to check the motor . 8-5. Noise Malfunction and Electromagnetic Interference An inverter A/C operates using pulse signal control and high frequencies. Therefore, it is susceptible to the effects of external noise, and is likely to cause electromagnetic interference with nearby wireless devices.

14 USING THE 1-HOUR OFF TIMER 1. 1-Hour OFF Timer This function causes the unit to operate for one hour and then stop, regar dless of whethe r the unit is on or off when this button is pressed. The indicator i n the displa y indicates t hat this function i s operating.
15 • Use the FLAP button on th e remote control to adjust the position of the flap . If you mo ve the flap by hand, the flap position accor ding to the remote contr ol and the actual flap position ma y no lon ger match.
16 How to install the air c lean filter The air clean filter needs to be installed behind the anti-mold f ilter . 1. Open the front pane l and remove t he anti-mold filter . 2. Remov e the air fi lter holder from th e anti-mold filter . 3. Install the ai r clean filter in the air filter holder .

19 3-9. Mounting (1) T o install the indoor unit, mount the indoor unit onto the 3 tabs on the upper par t of the rear plate. (2) Hold down the air discharge outlet and press the lower part of the indoor unit until it clicks to securely f asten to the 2 tabs on the lower par t of the rear plate.

23 5. Refrigerant T ubing 5-1. Use of the Flaring Method Many of the con ventional split system air conditioners emplo y the flaring method to connect refr igerant tubes which run between indoor and outdoor units. In this method, the copper tubes are flared at each end and connected with flare nuts.
24 5-4. Connecting T ubing between Indoor and Outdoor Units a) Tightly connect the indoor side refrigerant tubing exten- ded from the wall with the outdoor side tubing.

26 (5) With the vacuum pump still running, close the “Lo” knob of the manif old valv e. Then stop the vacuum pump . (6) With the hex wrench, turn the valv e stem on the nar- row tube service valv e counter-clockwise b y 90 degrees (1/4 turn) for 10 seconds , and then tur n the stem clockwise to close it again.

28 ■ Pump Down Pump down means collecting all refrigerant gas in the system back into the outdoor unit without losing an y of the gas. Pump down is used when the unit is to be mov ed or bef ore ser vicing the refrigerant circuit. Pump Down Pr ocedure Be sure to carry out pump down with the unit in cooling mode.
