6 Easy setup T o use y our TV set, perf orm the easy setup procedure below . The mark indicates the page number with more detailed inf ormation. Connect the antenna. • See 11 to connect the antenna. Connect an y video equipment. • See 40 , 41 to connect video equipment.

11 If your outdoor antenna uses a 75-ohm coaxial cab le with a standard DIN45325 plug (IEC 169-2), plug it into the Antenna In terminal at the rear of the TV set. If your outdoor antenna uses a 300-ohm twin-lead flat f eeder , connect a 300-ohm to 75-ohm impedance conv er ter and plug it into the Antenna In terminal at the rear of the TV set.
12 W atching TV 1 T urn on power . • When the P ower indicator (see 8 and 9 ) is off , press . • When the P ow er indicator lights up red, press on the remote control. The Po wer indicator changes to green and a picture appears . TV Set (Bottom) With CH / CH (on remote control) • Press CH , and channels change as shown belo w .
13 • Select an appropriate volume so as not to injure y our hearing. • T o avoid injuring your hearing, do not put on the headphones bef ore plugging them into the Headphones jack and bef ore the power is turned on. • The proper impedance for the headphones is 32 ohms .
14 Channel/Timer displa y Displays the current c hannel number , the timer , and other settings on the screen. 2 Press again. • The timer displa ys disappear . 1 Press . • The time remaining on the Off Timer , On Timer , Reminder , and the channel number and colour/sound system indications appear on the screen.
15 TV/Video selection Switches between TV broadcasts and A V input programmes. Each time y ou press TV/VIDEO , the input switc hes between A V1 (or SA V1 when S-VIDEO terminal is used), A V2, A V3 (or SA V3 when S-VIDEO terminal is used), COMPONENT , and TV programme.
16 Selecting a menu item 1 Press MENU / MENU/PRESET to call MENU screen. 3 Press / to enter . • The corresponding menu screen will appear . This TV set allows y ou to adjust the picture and sound, and set the channels and other features using the on-screen display with the remote contr ol or from the TV set.

19 A uto channel tuning A utomatically tunes in and presets receiv able TV stations, using consecutive channel number s (e .g. 2, 7, 9, 10 will be stored as 1, 2, 3, 4) 1 Press and hold down MENU/PRESET for more than tw o seconds. • The Language Select screen appears.
20 Channel setting Enables individual channel setting. 1 Press MENU to call MENU screen. 2 Press CH / CH to select “CH-SETTING”. 3 Press / to display CH-SETTING men u.
21 Picture adjustment 1 Press MENU to call MENU screen. 2 Press CH / CH to select “ PICTURE ” . 6 Repeat steps 4 and 5 above to adjust other items. 7 Press MENU until normal screen appears. • When NORMAL is pressed while the PICTURE menu is displa yed, the setting for the selected item is reset to the standard (f actor y setting) position.
22 Settings and adjustments Sound adjustment 1 Press MENU to call MENU screen. 2 Press CH / CH to select “ SOUND ” . 6 Repeat steps 4 and 5 above to adjust other items.
23 Each time y ou press SURROUND , the mode toggles between ON and OFF . OFF : Produces nor mal sound. ON : Produces surround sound. • Surround Sound only works when a stereo signal is being received. 2 Press / to adjust the surround eff ect level. 1 Press SURROUND until the SURROUND ON mode screen is display ed.
24 Each time you press , the width of the picture changes as shown belo w . (See pa ge 25.) PANORAMA FULL NORMAL ZOOM (14:9) CINEMA Settings and adjustments Wide mode Selects the width of the picture.
25 4 : 3 16 : 9 Detail inf ormation on each wide mode P ANORAMA Adapts the broadcast picture to 16:9 f ormat without changing the centre of view . This is especially useful for prog rammes like the ne ws when the speaker in the centre of the picture needs to be seen clearly .
26 Settings and adjustments A utomatically turns the screen b lue if a broadcast signal is not received. • P oor reception due to weak signals and too much noise ma y activate BLUE BA CK, despite the presence of a broadcast signal. T o continue watching TV under these conditions, set BLUE BA CK to “ OFF ” .
27 When video equipment, such as a video game system or camcorder , is connected to the front (A V -3 IN) terminals, this TV set automatically selects the input mode (A V3) when the video equipment is turned on. • If the video equipment is connected to the rear terminals on the TV set, the video mode will not be automatically selected.

35 T eletext br oadcasts T eletext is an inf ormation ser vice, organised like a magazine, which is pro vided by some television stations in ad dition to regular television br oadcasting. Y our television receives special T eletext signals broadcast b y a TV station, processes the inf ormation and displays it graphicall y on the screen.
