Lo ad ing the I magin g F i lm Your fax uses a roll of imagin g film to cr eate printed tex t and images. The print head in the fax applies heat to the imaging film to transfer ink to the paper. Follow the steps below to load or replace the film . The initia l starter roll of i maging film included with your fax can print about 30 A4 pages.

En tering Your Name and F ax Nu mber Before you can begi n using your fax, you need to enter your name and the telephone number of your fax. Y ou also need t o set the date and time. Once y ou enter t his information, it wi l l automatically appear at the top of each fax page you send.

Sele ctin g th e Rec ept ion Mo de Your fax machine has four modes for receiving i ncomi ng calls and faxes: TE L mode: This mode is the mos t convenient for receiving ph one cal ls. Faxes can also be received; however, all calls must first be answered by picki ng up the fax’s handset or an extension phone connected t o the same line.

T ra nsf er F un ctio n The Transfer functio n is used to make the UX-470 automaticall y call you at a specified number ev ery tim e it re ceiv es an incoming m essage. This lets yo u hear your messages immedi at ely after they come in, even when you ar e at a remote lo cat ion .

Re mote O peratio ns You can call the UX-470 from any tone dial telepho ne and play back your messag es usin g the remote commands . You can also use these commands to change the rece ption mode and other setting s. Rem ote code numbe r To perform remote operatio ns, you must first program a remote code numb er.
Toll Save r When you c all the UX-470 to listen to your messages, it w ill answer after two ri ngs if it has received at le ast one messag e, or after four rings if it has no t received any messages. This allows you to sav e money on telephone charges, particul arly if you ar e calling long dist ance.
Retri eving y our m e ssage s Note: You can also access the UX-470 for remote operatio n when the reception mode is set to FAX. In this case , call the UX-470, press the " # " key immediately after it an swers, and then continue fr om S tep 2 below .

Reception Rati o The fax has been set at the factory to autom aticall y redu ce the size of received document s to fit the size of the printing paper. Thi s ensures that data on the edges of the docum ent a re not cut off. If desired, you can turn this function off and have rece ived docum ents print ed at full size.
