3. Network settin gs and software instal- lation To use this produ ct correctly, you have to properly configu re the network setting s of your computers and in stall the att ached setup program i nto your MS Win dows plat form (Wind ows 95/98/NT/2 000).

4. Configuring the rout er This produ ct provides Web based confi gurati on scheme, that i s, config- uring by your Web browser, such as Netscape Communica tor or I nternet Explorer. This app roach can be adopted i n any MS Wi ndows, Maci ntosh or UNIX based platforms.

4.6 Advanced settings 4.6.1 Virtual Servers This produ ct’s NAT firewall fil ters out unrecogni zed packets to protect your Intranet, so all hosts behin d thi s product are invi sib le to the outsi de world. If you wish, you can make some of them accessible by enab li ng the Vi rtual S erver Mapping.
Some appl icati ons requi re multi pl e connections, l ike Internet games, Video conferencin g, Internet telephon y, etc. Because of the firewall functi on, these appl icati ons cann ot work with a pu re NAT router. The Special Applications fe ature all ows some of these appli cati ons to work with thi s product.
IP Address of DMZ Host DMZ (DeMi li tariz ed Zone) Host is a host wi thout t he protection of fire- wall . It all ows a computer to be exposed to unrestricted 2-wa y communi cati on for Internet games, Video conferencing, Internet tel eph- ony and other specia l app li cation s.
This pa ge support two methods to export system l ogs to specific desti - nati on by means of syslog( UDP) and S MTP(TCP). The items you h ave to setup in clud ing : IP Address for Syslog Host IP of destination where syslogs wil l b e sent to. Check Enable to enable th is funct ion.
So that an yone wishi ng to reach your host onl y needs to know the name of it. Dynam ic DNS wi ll map th e name of your host to your current IP address, which changes each ti me you connect your Internet service provider.

Print server This produ ct provides the fun ction of network pri nt server for MS Win- dows 95/98/ NT/2000 an d Uni x based pla tforms. 5.1 Configuring on Windows 95/98 After you fini shed the software i nstal lati on procedure described in Chap- ter 3, your computer has possessed the network printi ng faci li ty provided by th is product .
• Cli ck the Details item. • Choose the “PRTmate: (A ll -in -1)” from the l ist att ached at the Print To item. Be sure tha t the Printer Driver item is confi gured to the correct driver of your ser ver printer. • Cli ck on the butt on of Port Settings .
Compared to the procedure in last secti on, the selection of Details is equiva lent to th e selection of Ports , and Port Settings is equi valen t to Configure Port . 5.3 Configuring on Windows 2000/XP plat- forms Wind ows 2000 and XP have bui lt- in LPR cl ien t, users could uti li ze thi s feature to Print.

Appendix A – TCP/IP setup Set up TCP/IP If you are using a Fixed (specified) IP address, the following changes are required: • The Gateway must be set to the IP address of the DC-202 • The DNS shoul d be set to the address provid ed by your ISP.
