Introduction Congratulations on your purchase of WL - 346 Wireless Network Broadband modem/Router . WL -346 is c ompliant with the 802.11g & 8 02.11b standard. WL -346 is not only a Modem or Wireless Access Point, but also doubles as a 4-port full-duplex Switch that connects your wired-Ethernet devices together .

4 Network + System Requirements T o begin using the WL -346 , make sure you meet the following as minimum requirements: • PC/Notebook. • 1 Free Ethernet port. • WiFi card/USB dongle (802.11 b/g/n) – optional. • Annex A, ADSL internet connection.
6 Setup LAN, WAN 7 PC Network Adapter setup ( Windows XP ) • Enter [Start Menu] select [Co ntrol panel] select [Network]. • Select [Local Area Connection]) icon=> select [properties] LA.
• Select [Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)] =>Click [Properties]..
• Select the [General] tab. a. WL -346 supports [DHCP] function, please select both [Obtain an IP address automatically] and [Obtain DN S server address automatically].
8 Bring up WL-346 Connect the supplied power-adapter to the power inlet port and connect it to a wall outlet. TheWL -346 au tomatically enters the self-test phase. During se lf - test phase, the Power LED will blink briefly , and then will be lit continuously to indicate that this product is in normal operation.
The System status section allows you to monitor the current status of your router the Uptime, hardware information, serial number as well as firmware v ersion information is displayed here.
LAN settings The LAN tab gives you the opportunity to change the IP settings of the WL - 346. Click <Apply> at the bottom of th is screen to save an y changes. IP address 192.168.0.1. It is the router’ s LAN IP addre ss (Y our LAN clients default gateway IP address).
Lease Time Forever . In the L ease Time setting you can specify the time period that the DHCP lends an IP address to your L AN clients. T he DHCP will change your LAN client’s IP address when this time threshold period is reached.
Device Status View the Broadband modem /router’ s current configuration settings. Device Status displays the configuration settings you’ve configured in the Wizard / Basic Settings / Wireless Settings se ction.
Internet Status This page displays whether the AD SL port is co nnected to a ADSL service provider . It also displays the router’s WAN IP ad dress, Subnet Mask, and ISP Gateway as well as M AC address, the Primary DNS. Press Re new button to renew your WAN IP address.
ADSL Status This page shows the current operation mode, status o f your ADSL connection, the data rate and the quality of your ADSL link. Operation mode allows manual selection of the ADSL mode.
DHCP Client Status DHCP This page shows all DHCP clients (LAN PCs) curren tly connected to your network. The table shows the assigned IP ad dress, MAC addre ss and expiration time for each DHCP leased client. Use the Refresh button to update the available information.
WL-346 Log View the operation log of WL-346 . This page shows the current system log o f the Broadband mo dem/router . It displays any event occurred after system start up.
10 Configuration W izard Click Wizard to co nfigure the modem. The Se tup wizard will now be displayed; check that the adsl line is connecte d and click Next.
Depending on the chose n provider , you may need to enter your user name and password or hostname in the following window. Af ter you have entered the correct information, click Next .
11 Wireless Setti ngs Y o u can set parameters that are used for the wireless stations to connect to this router . The parameters include Mode, ESSID , Channel Number and Associated Client. Wireless Function Enable or Disable Wireless func tion here. Click Apply and wait for module to be ready & loaded.
Basic Settings Band Allows you to se t the AP fixed at 8 02.11b or 802.11g mode. Y ou can also select B+G+n mode to allow 80211b , 802.11g and 802.11n clients at the same time. ESSID This is the name of t he wireless signal which is bro adcasted. All the devices in the same wireless L AN should hav e the same ESSID.
Advanced Settings This tab allows you to se t the advanced wireless options. The options included are Authentication T ype, F ragment Thr eshold, R TS Th reshold, B eacon Interval, and Preamble T ype. Y ou should not change these parameters unless you know what effect the changes will have on the router .
Preamble Type The “L ong Preamble” can pro vide better wireless LAN compatibility while the “Short Preamble” can provide better wireless LAN performance. Broadcast ESSID If you enabled “Broadcast ESSID” , every wireless station located within the coverage o f this access point can discover th is access poi nt easily .
Security This Access Point provides complete wireless LAN secur ity functions, included are WEP , IEEE 8 02.11x, IEEE 8 02.11x with WEP , WP A with pre-share d k ey and WPA with RADIUS. With these se curity functions , you can prevent your wireless LAN fro m illegal access.
WEP When you select 64-bit or 128-bit WEP key , you have to enter WEP keys to encrypt dat a. Y ou can generate the k ey by yourself and enter it. Y ou can enter four WEP keys and select one of them as a default key . T hen the router can receive any packets encrypted by one of the four keys.
Click <Apply> at the bottom of the screen to save the above configurations. Y o u can now configure other sections by choosing Continue, or choo se Apply to apply the settings and re boot the device. WPA Pre-shared Key Wi-Fi Protected Access (WP A) is an adv anced security standard.
WPA-Radius Wi-Fi Protected Access ( WPA ) is an advanced security standard. Y ou can use an external RADIUS ser ver to authenticate wireless stations and provide the session key to encrypt data duri ng communication. It uses TKIP or CCMP ( AES ) to change the encryption key frequently .
ACL This w ireless router supports MAC Address Control, which prevents unauthorized clients from accessing your wireless network. Enable wireless access control Enables the wireless access control function Adding an address into the list Enter the "MAC Address" o f the wireless station to be added and then click "Apply".
12 Firewall Settings The Broad band router provides extensi ve firewall protect ion by restricting connection par ame ters, thus limiting the r isk o f hacker attacks, and defending against a wide array of common In ternet attacks.
DMZ If you have a clien t PC that can not run an Internet application (e.g. Games) properly from behind the NA T firewall, then you can open up the fire wall restrictions to unrestric ted two-way Internet access by defining a DMZ Host.
Denial of Service (DoS) The Bro adband router's firewall can block common hacker at tacks, including Denial of Service, Ping of Death, Port Scan and Sync Flood.
Access Y ou can restrict users from accessing certain Internet applications/services (e.g. Internet we bsites, email, FT P etc.), Access Control allows users to define the traffic typ e permitted i n your LAN. Y ou can c ontrol which PC client can have access to these services.
Filter client PC by MAC Check “Enable MAC Filtering” to enable MAC Filtering. Add PC Fill in “Client PC MA C Address” and “Comment” o f the PC t hat is allowed to access the Internet, an d then click “ Add” .
URL block Y ou can block access to some W e b sites from particular PCs by entering a full URL address or just keywords of the W e b site. Enable URL Blocking Enable/disable URL Blocking Add URL Keywor d Fill in “URL/Keyw ord” and then click “ Add” .
13 Adva nced Settings Network Address T ranslation (N A T) allows multiple users at your local site to access the Internet thro ugh a single Public IP Address or multiple Public IP Addresses.
Virtual server Use the Virtual Server function when you wan t different servers/clients in your LAN to handle different ser vice/Internet application type (e.g. Email, FTP , W eb server etc.) fro m the Internet. Computers use numbers called port numbers to recognize a particular service/Internet application type.

O nce you have selected an application, select a location (1-10) in the Copy to selection box and then click the Co py to button.
UPNP With UPnP , all PCs in you Intranet will discover this router automatically . So, you don’ t have to configure y our PC and it can easily access the Internet through this router . UPnP Feature Disable Y ou can enable or Disable the UPnP fe ature here.
QoS QoS can let you classify Internet ap plication traffic by source/destination IP address and port number . Y o u can assign priority for each type of applica tion and reserve bandwidth for it. The packets of applications wi th higher priority will always go first.
Edit a QoS rule Select the rule you want to edit and click “Edit ” , then enter the detail fo rm of the QoS rule. C lick “ Apply ” after edi ting the form and the rule will be saved. Adjust Qo S rule priority Y ou can select the rule and click “Move Up” to make its prior ity higher .
Routing These screens define routing related param eters, including static r outes and RIP (Routing Information Protocol) parameters. Routing Table Flags Indicates the route status: C = Direct connection on the same sub net. S = Static route. R = RIP (Routing Information Protocol) assigned route.
Snmp Use the SNMP configuration screen to display and modify parameters for the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). SNMP operation mode to select the SNMP modes fo r this device. Community A computer attached to the networ k, called a Network Management Station (NMS), can be used to access t his information.
Trap Specify the IP address of the N MS to notify when a significant event is detected by the agent. When a trap condition occurs, the SNMP age nt sends an SNMP trap message to any NMS specified as a trap receiver . IP Address T rap s are sent to this address when errors or specific events occur on the network.
14 TOOLBOX Settings Password change options Y ou can change the passwor d required to log into the broadband router's system web-based management. By default, the password is: admin. Passwords can contain 0 to 12 alphanumeric characters, and are case sensitive.
Time Zone The Time Z o ne allows your router to base its time on the settings configured here, which will affect functions such as Log entries and Firewall settings. Set Time Zone Select the time zone of the country you are curre ntly in. The router will set its time based o n your selection.
Remote Management The remo te manageme nt function allows you to designate a host i n the Internet the ability to configure the Broadband r outer from a remote site.
Firmware Upgrade This page allows you to upgrade the router’s fi rmware. Firmware Upgrade This tool allows you to upgrade the Broadband router ’ s system firmware.
Backup Settings The Backup screen allows you to save (Backup) the router’s current configuration settings. When you save the configuration setting (Backup) you can r e-load the saved configuration into the router through the Restore selection.
Reset Y ou can reset the router’s system should any problem exist. The reset function essentially re-boots your router ’ s system..
DDNS DDNS allows you to map the sta tic domain name to a dynamic IP address. Y ou must get an account, password and your static domain name from the DDNS ser vice providers.
