3 SIM card The SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, which you get from your network operator, cont ains information about your subscription. Al ways turn off your phone and detach the charger and the battery before you insert or remove t he SIM card.
4 Memor y card Your phone supports a Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) memory card, adding m ore storage s pace to yo ur phone. It can also be used as a portable memory card with other compatible device s. You can move content between the memory card and the phone memory.
5 Charging the battery The phone battery is partly charged when you buy it. To charge the battery 1 Connect the charger to the phone with the power icon on the charger facing upwa rds. It t akes appro ximate ly 3.5 hours to fully charge the battery. Press a key to vie w the screen and see the cha rging status.
6 T urning on the phone To turn on the phone 1 Press and hold down . 2 Enter your PIN, if requested. 3 Select OK to use the setup wizard. Stand by After you have t urned on the phone and enter ed your PIN, the name of your network operator appears. Th is view is called standby.
7 Screen icons Network coverage The network bars show the strength of the GSM network in your area. You should move to anot her location if you have problems calling and network covera ge is poor.

26 Picture messages (MMS) Picture messag es can contain t ext, pictures, soun d recordings, video clips and attachment s. To create a picture message 1 From standby select Menu > Mess aging > Write new > Picture msg . 2 Enter text. To add it ems to the message, press , scroll using and select an item.
27 Contacts You can save names, pho ne numbers and person al information in Contacts . Informati on can be saved in the phone memory or on the SIM card. Default contacts You can cho ose which co ntact informa tion is shown as de fault. If Phone conta cts is selected as default, your contac ts show all the informatio n saved in the phone.
28 Phone contacts Phone cont acts can con tain names, phon e numbers and personal informat ion. They are saved in t he phone me mory. To add a phone contact 1 From standby select Menu > Contacts > New contact . 2 Select Last name: to add the last name an d select OK .

35 Locks SIM card lock Your PIN and PUK (P ersonal Unblocking Key) are supplied by your network operator. To unblock your SIM card 1 When PIN blocked is displayed, select Unlock . 2 Enter your PUK and select OK . 3 Enter a new P IN and select OK . 4 Re-enter the new P IN and select OK .
36 Phone lock You can stop unauthorised use of your phone. Cha nge the phone lock code (0000 by default) to an y four-to-eight- digit personal code. To turn on the phone lock 1 From standby select Menu > Settings > the Genera l tab > Security > Locks > Phone protection > Protection .
