Studer Innotec 14 QUICK ST AR T GUIDE The remote control RCC gives you access to a many settings poss ibilit ies. Ho weve r, in most case s the setting of two parameters is required fo r the perfect running of your installation. A DJUSTMENT OF THE LANGUAGE To begin, set your remote control RCC for a display of the information in English.
RCC 15 You can now adapt your installation t o the source which it is connected to. Max. current of the AC sour ce ( p ow er-sharing) {1107}. In case of using the Xtender on a publ ic grid, it is actually the value of the circuit breaker on the source sid e (fuse or breaker).

RCC 19 ADJUSTMENT OF THE RCC REMOTE C ONTROL This screen gives you access to the remote control basic settings. From one of the basic menu i tems, use the keys UP a nd DOW N until r eachin g th e item “Ad justme nt of the remote control”, then co nfirm using the key SET.
Studer Innotec 20 Duration of the back-lighting {5009} This configuration allows you t o determine after ho w muc h tim e of ina ctivi ty the b ack-li ghti ng will switch off. Red back-lighting if the Xtender is OFF and if there is a fault {5026} If the Xtender is stopped by a fault (battery underv oltage, overload, etc.
RCC 21 programs. The file is writt en in a directory called STATS and in a subdirectory which indicates the date of backup . Backup of remote control configurations {5015} This function writes useful configurat ions for the operation of the remote control on to the SD card.
Studer Innotec 22 INFORM A TION ON THE OPERAT IN G MODE OF THE INSTAL LATION There are two different v iews for displa ying information on the syst em : A simplified and a configurable display. When one of these two displays is visible, it is possible to acti vate o r de acti vate the syst em.
RCC 23 The following information is avail able: With regard to the grid input • AC In input voltage • AC In input current • AC In input power • Input frequency • Energy from AC-In of the pre.
Studer Innotec 24 EVENT HISTORY This screen allows you to vi ew th e various eve nts tha t have occurred in t he installation. The events that occur in your installat ion are di splayed on the remote control screen.
RCC 25 E RROR I NCORRECT INPUT FREQUENCY The voltage at AC IN d oes not have a frequency includ ed in the admissible range for the X tender. Solution: When opera ting on a gene rator, check its speed. If you are n ot equiped to measure the gen e rator frequ ency, measure i ts voltage with no load.
Studer Innotec 26 The voltage ripple on the batteries may be caused by their agei ng. In this case, lower the charge current. M ESSAGE P OWER SHARING EXCEE DED ; TRANSFE R PROHIBITED The power output of the consumers exceeds the one specified for the source, and the tr ansfer relay can not be ac tivated .
RCC 27 ADJUSTMENT OF THE COMBI XTENDE R G ENERAL The Xtender inverter/c harger has been designed t o ensure that all basic func t ions of a n energy man agement system work completely independentl y. In its original version, no adjust ment is usuall y required.
Studer Innotec 28 According to the user level selected, it is possible to access several hundred config urations. For this reason, each configuration has a unique ID displa yed top right. I n the e vent of questi ons on the s ubject o f a conf igura tion, ensure that you have this number at hand.
RCC 29 Not e, that if the s mart b oos t functi on is a ctiva ted, it is po ssibl e to dis charg e th e battery even if the inve rter function is locked.
Studer Innotec 30 Number of critical battery under-vol tages before final stop {1305} and Leadtime to counting the critical battery under -voltages allowed before final stop {1405} The critical battery under- voltages can also be automatically acknowledged in case of undervoltage disap pearance.
RCC 31 The bulk charge and fl oating phases canno t be deactivated. If the conditions for starting a new battery charge cycle have co me together, th e bulk charge phase starts immediately. The battery cycle fi t s a large number of batteries by d efault, irrespectiv e of whether they are gel batteries or not.
Studer Innotec 32.
RCC 33 Charge current {1138} Use this value in order t o adapt the charge current to the battery. With this configura tion, the maximum current to be used for ch arging y our battery is adjus t ed. The current ap propriate for the battery can be found in i t s technical data.
Studer Innotec 34 Absorption phase {1451} During this phase, the battery accumu lates the fi nal percentages of th e energy it is storing. This phase is carried out with a constant volt age. Authorised absorption {1155} This configuration determines whethe r or not th e absorpti on phase is used.
RCC 35 Equalization before absorption phase {1291} This configuration determines in the char ge cycle, in which equa lizatio n will be a cti vated , if the equalization i s carried out after or before the absorption phase. The equalization phas e is carried out b efore the a bso rptio n pha se by d efault.
Studer Innotec 36 End of equalization activated by the current {1168} The equalization phase can be inte rrupted if th e charge current of t he battery goe s under a certa in thresh old. This can be use d to limit th e operating period of a genset while keeping an acceptable battery charge.
RCC 37 Level of battery under-voltage at no load {1108} Allows adjus tment of the battery ’s low voltage level at which the inv erter and smart boo st f unc tions a re d eactiv ated. Thi s adjustment is ap plied in the case of a zero charge and is automatically adapted with regard to the power required f rom the batteries.
Studer Innotec 38 Delay before passing to inverter {1198} When the in put voltage i s below the transfer vo ltage to the i nverter, t he transfer relay do es not open immediately . Wi th this configuration, t he period during which the transfer remains dr awn can be specified.
RCC 39 The auxiliary con t acts respond to various signal types pr esented graphically b e low. The f ollowi ng type s of bas ic even ts may a ctiva te th e conta cts: • Simple event • Scheduled event • Level In the followi ng description, each pa rameter has two referen ce numbers.
Studer Innotec 40 Limit the time of activation {1512} {1513} Maximum duration of ac tivation {1514 } {1515} When the conditions ar e met, either one or two relays are acti vated permanen tly. If you wish that the a ctivati on dura tion is limi ted i n time, even if the conditions are met, you can activate this func tion.
RCC 41 Inverter or smart boost overload {1228} {1336} Activates the contact in the event of an error d ue to excessive power in the in verter or the Smart Boost function. In the event that the inverter d isconnects d u e to excess power and it is attemp ting to re start, the con tact is n ot acti vated u n til the end of the a t tempts .
Studer Innotec 42 The auxiliary contact will only be activated afte r the battery exceeds agai n a certain voltage value and also after a duration, both indepe nd ently o f the ac tivati on para meters . This voltage and this duration are programmable too.
RCC 43 o Time of end of activa t ion {1273} {1382} • Program 2 {1274} { 1383 } o Days of the week { 1275} {1384} o Time of start of activa t ion {1276} {1385} o Time of end of activa t ion {1277} {1.
Studer Innotec 44 INFORM A TION ON THE SYSTE M The system info rmation allows y o u to check th e versions of the various elements of your installa t ion. R EMOTE CONTROLS You will receive information on the hardware and software versions for each remote control.
RCC 45 UPDATE S The RCC remote co ntrol program as well as the code in the in verters/chargers of the Xtend er series can be updated in order t o integrate new features. For the RCC remote control it is also possibl e to implement new display languages (up to a maximum of 4 on each RCC remote control).
Studer Innotec 46 APPLICATION EXAMPLES The examples b elow illustrate some imple mentation op t ions for current install ations. Useful configurations for these situations are also given.
RCC 47 U SE TO INCREASE THE POWER ON AN EXISTING INSTALLATION Description: The availability of an inv ert e r or a inverter/charge r allows its power to be extended with an Xtender connected in cascade. The m aximum power of the first in verter is li mited by the maximu m current from the transfer relay of the Xtender.
