Notes: Always connect the power cord last and always remove it before add - ing, remov ing or changi ng any hardwa re components.
Chapter 2: Installation 2-3 Align the CPU key that is the semi-circle cutouts against the socket keys. Once aligned, caref ully lo wer the CPU straig ht down to the socket. (Do not drop the CPU on the socke t. Do not move the CPU horiz ontally or v ertically .

Chapter 2: Installation 2-5 Do not apply any thermal grease to the heatsink or the CPU die -- the requi red amount has already been applied. Installing a Passive CPU Heatsink Screw#1 Screw#2 Motherboard Mounting Holes Finish the installation by fully tightening all four screws.

Chapter 2: Installation 2-7 Thermal Grease Heatsink Fins Locate the CPU Fan power connector on the motherboard. (Refer to the layout on the r ight for the CPU Fan location.) Position the heatsi nk so that the heatsink fan wires are clos est to the CPU fan power conn ector and are not inter fered with other components.
2-8 X8SIE/X8SIE-F/X8SIE-LN4/X8SI6-F User's Manual Align the four heatsink fasteners with the mounting holes on the moth - erboard. Gently pus h the pairs of diagonal fasteners (#1 & #2 , and #3 & #4) into the mounting holes until you hear a click .
Chapter 2: Installation 2-9 Unplug th e power cor d from the power supply . Disconnect the heatsink fan wires from the CPU fan header . Use your nger tips to gently press on the fastener cap and turn it counter - clockwise to make a 1/4 (90 0 ) turn, and then pull the fastener upward to loosen it.

4-10 X8SIE/X8SIE-F/X8SIE-LN4/X8SI6-F Block (Multi-Sector T ransfer) Block M ode boosts the IDE drive p erformance b y increasin g the am ount of data transferred . Only 512 bytes of data can be transferred per interr upt if Block Mode is not used. Block Mode allows transfers of up to 64 KB per interrupt.

It has a data transfer rate o f 16.6 MBs. It has t he same transfer rate as PIO mode 4 and Multi Word DMA mode 2.

The options are 32, 64 , 96, 128, 160, 192, 224 and 248. PCI IDE Bus Master When enabled, the BIOS uses PCI bus mastering for reading/writing to IDE drives.
