6 6 Display : Output The “ Display: Output” menu is wher e you can c ontrol ho w the DVR is going to deliver an image to y our television, scr een or monitor .
7 7 The “Rec ording: Enc ode” menu allows you to alt er and customize how the DVR r ecor ds footage and enc odes the files. Encoding is a term which r efer s to the compr ession algorithm (a fancy c omputer term for “mak e the file smaller whil e retaining visual quality”) used by the DVR.
8 8 Overwrite: When enabl ed, the DVR will rec ord ov er the files already s tored on the har d drive. The DVR will al ways r ecor d over the oldes t files on your har d drive first. Using the overwrite option is advisabl e, as the DVR will alwa ys be able to r ecor d events as they happen.
9 9 R ec or ding: Schedul e The “Rec ording: Schedule” menu enabl es you to specify when the DVR r ecor ds video and under what modes for each channel. The schedule pr esented on-scr een applies to one channel only ov er one whole week. Use the “Copy T o” function to quickl y assign identical schedule layouts t o multiple channels at once.
10 10 Sear ch: Playback T o play your video r ecor dings: 1. Select one or mor e channels you’d lik e to play back. 2. F rom the Video T ype menu, select the type(s) of video you’d lik e to playback. The options ar e “ All ” , “Manual ” , “Schedule” , “Motion” , “ Alarm” and “Motion or Alarm” .
11 11 Sear ch: Playback Interf ac e The Playback Interf ace is quite similar to a computer’ s media player , or to the on-screen display of a D VD/Blu-ray player . Most of the c ontrols ar e quite straight f orward, and operat e in the same way as a st andard media player .

13 13 Sear ch: Event & Log Sear ch Event Settings The “Sear ch: Event” featur e has a similar function to “Playback” but is specific to sear ching for motion and alarm ev ents. Y ou can sear ch for one or mor e cameras and a particular time and date.

16 16 Alarm: Motion: Motion Detection & Sensitivity Adjusting motion sensitivity Y ou can access this by right-clicking the mouse when y ou are setting up or changing the motion detection ar ea. The Sensitivity setting is contr olled by a slider , allowing y ou to set a value between 0 and 50.
17 17 Alarm: Motion: Schedul e & Action Schedule Allow s you to select which day and what time that you w ould lik e Motion Detection to be enabled for . By default Motion Detection is enabl ed 7 days a week for 24 hour s. If you want to alter this, click on the day and time that you w ant to change.
