5 INTRODUCTION Uncrating & Assembly ¾ Dispose of top and side panels of the crate. ¾ Remove loose parts and packing material ¾ Cut any banding or strapping that may be holding the mower to the crate. ¾ Disengage spark plug wire and place w here it cannot make a connection.

8 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Safety Instructions These instructions are for your safety. Read them carefully. General Use ¾ Read all instructions in this operator’s manual and on the machine before starting it. Ensure th at you understand them and then abide by them.
9 ¾ Always look around before and during reversing maneuve rs. ¾ Slow down before turning. ¾ Shut down the mower deck when not mowing. ¾ Be careful when rounding fixed objects, so that the blades do not hit them. ¾ Only operate the machin e in daylight or other well-lit conditions.
10 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Slope Operation ¾ Remove obstacles such as stones, tree branches, etc. ¾ Mow up and down, not side to si de. Never drive the rider on terrain that slopes mo re than 10 degrees. ¾ Avoid starting or stopping on a slop e. If the tires begin to slip, shut down the blades and drive slowly down the slope.

13 CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES Blade Main tenance Stop engine and remove ignition key for safety. Disco nnec t spark plug wire. Wear heavy, thick gloves when holding ont o blade. Avoid the sharp edge of the blade. For best results , mower blades must be kept sharp.

19 OPERATION Starting ¾ Operator must be sitting i n the seat. Control handles must be in the neutral (outward) posi t ion ( which set s the parking brakes). PTO must be in the disengage position (pushed down). ¾ Set choke (if needed), turn key and rele ase as soon as engi ne starts.
20 Controls ¾ Be familiar with all contro ls, their functions and ho w to operate them before starting the machi ne. ¾ Motion contr o l levers on each side of the console contro l the direction of movement.
21 SERVICE & ADJUSTMENTS ¾ Push out on the Deck Lift Handle and ra ise or low er the deck to the desired position. ¾ Position 1 is the lowest setting and Positi on 8 is the highest position ¾ T.
22 SERVICE & ADJUSTMENTS Deck Belt Routing & Replacement 9 Disconnect spar k plug wire 9 Apply parking brake 9 Lower the deck to its lowest position 9 Remove the belt covers 9 Disconnect tension idler 9 Roll the belt over the t op of the deck pulleys 9 Remove belt Removal 9 Install new belt by placing it around the deck pulleys.
23 Hydro Belt Routing & Replacement 9 Disconnect spar k plug wire 9 Apply parking brake 9 Disconnect wiring from electric clutch 9 Remove clutch stop w eldment (9973TK) 9 Remove the engine to deck.
24 SERVICE & ADJUSTMENTS Seat Adjustment Engine to Deck Belt 9 Apply parking brake 9 Lower the deck to its lowest position 9 Disconnect tension idler 9 Remove belt from the mower deck and the electric clutch Removal 9 Install new belt by placing it around the electric clutch and route it through the idler and around the deck pulley.
25 Parking Brakes 9 The Swisher ZT2460 is equipped with an Automatic Parking Brake system on each control han dle. 9 When the control handles are in the out most position the parking brakes are on. 9 Adjustment for the system is located on the ends of the brake cable at the hydro pan & frame 9 Raise the rear wheel off the ground.
