Whe n discs that fall outside of the CD st andard are used, stab le playback and op timum sound qualit y cannot be guaranteed.
15 Precautions Concerning the Built-in Hard Disk - Do not format the buil t -in hard disk. If the disk were to be formatted, the firmware (which is the software that gigabe at uses to operate ) would be deleted and t he product would no lon ger be able to functi on.
16 AC Adapter When using the AC adap ter, careful ly read and observe the informa tion in “Safety Precautions ” ( > p. 3) as well as the follo wing instru ctions. Refer to “Specif ications ” ( > p. 151) for t he type of the suppl ied AC adapter.

23 How to connect the gigab eat with the USB CRADLE • Connection • Removal Insert and press down fi rmly. When removing the gigabeat from the USB CRADLE, pull straight out in th e direction of the arrow in the diagram.
24 Getting ready Charging the built-in battery When the AC adapter is conne cted to the gigabeat, chargi ng starts automati cally. If you are using the gig abeat for the first time, or when the gigabeat hasn’ t been used for prolo nged period, full y charge t he battery b efore using.
25 Charge Using the USB CRADLE Connect the gig abeat to the USB CRADLE. Then, conne ct in the order A to C shown below. See “How to connect the gigabeat wi th the USB CRADLE” ( > p. 23) for connecting the gigabeat with USB CRADLE. Connect to the outlet.
26 Charge by connect ing to PC Using USB Cable Connect the gig abeat to PC via the supplied USB cable. Battery power may be used when the gi gabeat is operatin g such as transferring tracks even if it is con nected via USB.
