15 INTRODUCTION PRODUCT DESCRIPTION A Surveillix IPR is simply a server that perfor ms as a High Definit ion Digital Recorder . By utilizing the many features of a co mputer, including proces sing power, storage c apacity, graphics compression, and security features , the IPR unit is more powerful t han t he analog recorders of th e past.

22 IDENTIFYING INCLUDED COMPONENTS Surveillix™ IPRs come with a mouse, key board and selec ted software and c ables. Identi fy the foll owing componen ts to make s ure everything has b een properly i ncluded with the n ew IPR unit. If any of the followin g items are miss ing, contact th e dealer to a rrange a replacement.
23 KEYBOARD SETUP To attach the key board to the IPR un it, plug the end of the Keybo ard into the k eyboard PS/2 Port located on the back of the machin e. The keyboard PS/ 2 Port can be identifie d by the purple color. Refer to the Rear Panel Con nectors diagram for more information.
24 MONITOR SETUP The IPR may have one or both of th e following c onnections avai lable for mon itors which can be used individ ually or in tan dem. SVGA Output* To VGA Monitor. * Use the SVGA Output on th e Video Card labe led as the DB-14 SVGA Monitor Output on the Rear Panel Connectors diagram.
25 TURNING ON THE IPR 1. Turn on the monitor and any ex ternal peripher als (ex. Printers, Ex ternal Storage Dev ices, etc.) c onnected to the IPR unit. 2. Turn on the P ower Switch located in the rear of t he IPR unit. 3. The IPR will run a series of self-tests .

28 IPR REGISTRATION Important Information Have the following information o n hand before re gistering the IPR up grade: IPR Software Serial Number: The Product Serial Number is the unique number that Tosh iba provided with t he software. System ID: The System ID is a number generat ed by the IPR Software.
29 5. Verify the informat ion. 6. Click Next if the information pr ovided is c orrect. 7. Once the inform ation is valida ted, the unlock code will be gen erated.
30 IMPORTING IPR SETTINGS 1. Exit to Windows by clicking the Exit Button on th e Main Display Sc reen and select ing Restart in Win dows Mode. (See t he Display Screen section lat er in this chapter .) 2. Click Start > Programs > Surveillix > VFormat.
31 DISPLAY SCREEN Each time the IPR is starte d, the pr ogram defau lts t o the Displ ay s c reen. The following dia g r am out lines the b utto ns an d f eat u res us ed on the Display s creen. You shou ld become familiar with thes e options as this is the sc reen that will b e displayed t he majority of the time.
32 CAMERA VIEW The Camera status for each camera is displayed n ext to the Camera number (or name) on the Video Displ ay Area. Recording Status Indicator The camera status for each camera is display ed in the upper right corner on the Video Display Area.
33 SCREEN DIVISION MENU The Screen Division Menu allows you to view camer as in groups su ch as two by two, three by thr ee and four by four. Th e button options are shown below. 1st Four Cameras View – Displays camer as 1-4 in the Video Display Area.

36 SETUP OVERVIEW The Setup options allow you to optimiz e the IPR u nit by adjustin g thing s like cam era nam es, reboot schedules , rec ordin g s c hedul es and mor e. It is extremely impor ta nt that you setup t h e IPR correctly for several reasons.
37 CAMERA SETUP Select Camera Selects the came ra to be edited. Selected Came ra Display Displays the li ve camera fee d from the camera sel ected. Sensor Connection Specify which sen sors are currently in use. Enable Network Device PTZ Enables setup and use of Network C amera and PTZ Func tionality.
38 Unlocking a New Netw ork Camera 1. Start the Surveill ix IPR. 2. Enter Setup. 3. Enter Camera Setup. 4. Click the Regis tration button . 5. Enter the Unloc k Code generat ed by the Tos hiba Registration Site i nto the “new serial number” box. 6.
39 MOTION SETUP The IPR allows the us er to adjust se veral different Mo tion Settings a nd create mo tion detection r egions. NOTE : Motion grids configured us ing the SCS software will be advanced motion grids. Creating a Motion Area 1. Click the Moti on button in Set up.
40 Removing a Motion Area To remove the mo tion areas, in th e Motion Regi ons area, clic k Clear. Activating an Alarm on a Motion Event 1. In the Motion Setu p window, select a camera to edit from the list. 2. Create a motion area. 3. Select the A larm Output chec k box.
41 SCHEDULE SETUP Recording Schedule The Recording Sc hedule window a llows the user to create different reco rding schedul es based on the d ay, time, and type o f reco rding desired.
42 Sensor Schedule The sensors will supersede all other types of rec ording modes (Motion, Conti nuous, No Recording). Reg ardless of the recording schedule of a part icular camera, if a s ensor event occurs the associated cameras will begin recording as a Sensor Event.
43 Create a Recording Schedule 1. Select a day to begin creati ng the schedule for -or- Select the Day Selection Mo de button, e nabling Multi Day Selectio n, to create th e same schedule for multiple days. 2. Highlight the Time-Blocks within the Record ing Schedule wi ndow f or the camera(s) selected to schedule.
44 Special Day Schedule The user can create d ays that have a un ique recording s chedule. If n ecessary cr eate these on days that are ‘not typical’ s uch as Holidays, Special Events, etc. Creating/Editing a ‘Sp ecial Day’ Schedule 1. Click the Normal Day Mode button t o enable the Spec ial Day Mode.
45 System Restart Setup System Restart Setup allows the us er to define a sc hedule wherein the IPR automat ically restarts according to spec ified param e ters. Create System Restart Schedule 1. Open the Sched ule Setup Display 2. Click the System Restart button 3.
46 GENERAL SETUP Beep on Login Fail Enab les the IPR to bee p c ontin uo us ly in res pons e to a faile d log in att empt. Only an author iz ed log in will s top the beeping. Sequence Setting Allows the vi deo out pictu re to autom atically cycl e through ch annels at a set speed.
47 Video Loss Alarm The IPR Software supports a Vide o Los s Alarm func tion, whic h allows an Alarm Ev ent t o lo g when a camera loses its s ignal. The lost signal can be due to Power failure t o the network dev ice, the ne twork device cable being cut or unpl ugged, or the netw ork devic e being damaged in some way.

49 Auto Sequencing Setting Auto Seq uencing is us ed either in the main scr een when Auto Sequencing has been enabled or when a Spot-Mo nitor Out signal is used to displ ay video on a spot monitor. Auto Sequenc ing convenient ly displays v ideo channels and at spec ified intervals, s eque nces through each se lected channe l.
50 NETWORK SETUP Network Setup allows the user to adjust sett ings such as ports, setup emergency PPP information for use with the Emergency Age nt and enable Remot e Access. Transport Rate A bandwidth throttl e based on percen tage of free netwo rk. Web Viewer (iDVR) Enables/Disables access to the IPR using the Web Viewer interface.
51 INFORMATION The Site Information Win dow allows us ers to define the site code necessary for conne cting to remote software , save comments relative to the IPR and store tech s upport and cont act number infor mation. Site Code A user-specified uniq ue identification name that is used by other IPR software to c onnect to the IPR.

53 User Management The User Manage ment Cons ole allo ws the admi nistrat or to create, e dit, and d elete us er acc ounts. Eac h user acc ount can be as s ig ned different pri vileges to limit the usage of the IPR system .
54 User Rank The User Rankin g structure allo ws the option to assign a privi lege system (1 -10 where one ha s the most rights) to u sers of the IPR Software. For examp le: Since only one user is allowed to use the PTZ controls at any one time, a n administrator wit h a higher rank can kick another u ser out and take c ontrol of the PTZ.
55 Status Check / Email General 1. Click the Setup button on the M ain Display. 2. Click the Administrati ve button. 3. Click Status Chec k/Email. 4. Select the E nable Email Alar m check box. 5. Enter a From Nam e and e-mail A ddress. NOTE: This name and address will app ear in t he From lin e of the email alert message.

60 SEARCH OVERVIEW The IPR unit has several options that allow the us er to easily s earch through, an d find, a partic ular section o f video. From Motion/Sensor ind exing to calendar views highlighting day s with recorded video; t he IPR unit is equipped to hel p the user quick ly find a specific vid eo or event.
61 Adjust the Brightness of an Image 1. Select an ima ge to adjus t by double- clicking on th e desired image. Multiple im ages cannot b e adjusted at one time. 2. Move the Br ight slide bar to th e right or left to adjust the brig htness. 3. Reset the Brightn ess by mov ing the slider back to the c enter of the bar .
62 DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME The IPR automatically adjus ts for Daylight S aving Time chang es. When the hour “ jumps forward” no video is lost becaus e an hour is skipped. Howeve r when the hour “ falls back” there is a duplicate d hour that un der normal circ umstances w ould be recorded over.
63 SINGLE CLIP BACKUP Along with the Sav e option, a single camera bac kup option is als o included with the Sur veillix software. The s ingle Camera or Clip Backup allows th e us er to b ack up a s ingle camer a wit hout havin g to b ack up mul tiple c amer as at a g iven t ime.
64 PERFORMING A BASIC SEARCH There are several diff erent types of s earches that can be p erformed on t he IPR. The most bas ic involves sel ecting the date, t h e time, the camera, and c licking play . 1. Click the Calen dar button to s elect a date.
65 PREVIEW SEARCH Preview Search can be used in a numb er of circumstances to quickly find an exact moment w here an event, such as a theft, occ ur red. The Preview Sear ch gives a 24 Ho ur visual overv iew of a sin gle camera by s eparating a 24 hour period ( 1 day) into 2 4 images, on e image for each ho ur of the day.
66 Performing a Preview Search 1. Select a sing le camera by eit her turning of f all camera s but one or dou ble-clicking a displayed im age. 2. Select the Pr eview Search button. 24 imag es display. If there is no r ecorded video dur ing a portion of the day, “ No Image” wi ll be displayed wher e the image s hould be.
67 OBJECT SEARCH Object Search is a powerful s earch utility use d to search a region on t he video for any mo tion changes. Results are neatly di splayed and can be viewe d quickly. Performing an Object Search 1. Perform a Basic Search to determin e the start time of the object s earch.
68 SEARCH IN LIVE The S earch in Liv e feature a llows users to review events immedi ately while mo nitoring liv e video. Paus e, rewind, and r esume l iv e video within secon ds of an alarm eve nt or suspicious ac tivity. 1. Move the mous e cursor over t he desired l ive video dis play on the Liv e Display Scree n.

70 PAN / TILT / ZOOM OVERVIEW The PTZ controls within the IPR al low for powerful contro l over the ca meras. This can be extremely beneficial by increasing t h e usefulness of the rec orded video. Using the PTZ c ontrols you can c reate custom preset c onfigurations that can continuously swee p across large areas .
71 ADVANCED PTZ SETUP NOTE: Preset and Tour opt ions may v ary depending on the camera Creating and Viewing Preset Positions A Preset Position is a user-de fined location wh ere the camer a can be pointe d, zoomed in, an d focused. 72 PTZ Address Settings Some protocols s upport software ad dress settings . The RX Addresses and ID settings are compatib le with a particular line of receivers th at support 2 ID ad dresses The PT Driver Address is as sociated with the PTZ ID address set on the camera.
73 CONTROLLING A PTZ CAMERA The S urveillix IPRs prov ide control for a PAN/T ILT camera in two d ifferent ways. • The first method is to use the Grap hical PTZ Controller that appears when the PTZ button is click ed on the main sc reen. • The second metho d is to use the mouse to co ntrol the camera directly fro m the live vide o display.
74 UNDERSTANDING TOURS Travel Speed The speed between on e Preset positi on to the nex t Dwell Time The length of time (in seconds) that a PTZ Tour display s a Preset Positio n. Setting: Start Pos / End Pos Define a Mi mic Tour. The Start P osition button begins the ‘recording’ pr ocess.
75 PTZ Tour Schedule Create PTZ Tour Schedule 1. Click the Setup button on the M ain Screen. 2. Click the PTZ Set up button. 3. Click the Tour Sc hedule button to open the PT Z Tour Schedul e window.

The most commonl y used forms of t his are CD-R/RWs, External USB or FireWire Hard Drives , and Network Drives. Ev ery IPR comes standard equip ped with a DVD±RW drive, USB port, and Network Adapt er.
79 General Backup Screen The Ge neral Backup win dow is use d for perform ing bul k backup of v ideo rec orded by all cameras for a s elected p eriod or peri ods to a specified stora ge location. 80 Clip Backup Screen The Clip Screen is used for bac king up vide o recorded by individual c ameras for a s elected period of time to a spec ified stora ge location Performing a Clip Backup 1. 90 EMERGENCY AGENT OVERVIEW The E mergency Agent software is a utility that strea ms video acro ss a Local Area Network to a Client PC when an alarm is detec ted on the IPR. The vi deo that strea ms across c an be stopped, pl ayed forwards and backwards, in s low motion or real s peed.
91 Emergency Agent Window Setup Window Network Port Indicates the port which th e Emergency Agent uses to lis ten for incoming events. This number shou ld be chan ged to t he sam e number as is set in the Emer gency Port in Network Settings on t he IPR.

96 Create a New Remote Connection 1. Select Start > Programs > Surv eillix > Remote > Surv eillix Remote Cente r. The Surveillix R emote Software opens and the Loca l Connection wind ow opens. 2. Click New to open the Site Info window. 3. Select the S ite Type and ent er a Site Name.
97 Configuring the IPR In order to acc ess the IPR remote ly, the IPR Server m ust be setup to a llow remote connec tions. Time Out Value Specifies a value (in seco nds) to wait for a signal from the Surveillix Remote Client. I f a signal is not received by that time, the conn ection is dropp ed.
98 DIGITAL VERIFIER OVERVIEW .JPG images and .AVI video files that are exported from the Digital Video Recorder are aut omatically e mbedded with a digi tal signature. Digit al Signatures are a way to verify the authentic ity of the images to ensure that they have n ot been tam pered wi th or edited in any w ay.
99 BACKUP VIEWER OVERVIEW The Backup Viewer allows you t o play back the exported vide o in its proprietary format. Vid eo saved in this for mat is extr eme ly difficult to tamp er with and ther efore is the ideal solutio n when law enforcement a nd the legal d epartment are inv olved.
100 Loading Video from DV D or Hard Drive 1. Open the Back up Viewer program: S tart > Programs > Surveillix > Backup View er > Backup View er. 2. Click the Open b utton. The Total B ackup Search w indow will open. 3. For Clip back up files, expand Cli p and select the desired drive.

102 SCS OVERVIEW SCS software is N etwork DVR Management Software; a p owerful utility t hat allows 100 or more DVR units to be controll ed using o ne computer. This s oftware allows you to view live vi deo, search saved v ideo, edit and conf igure setup on each DVR, and i mport ma ps of buildings an d other locati ons.
