The RED and BLA CK battery wires must m atch the RED and BLA CK dots on the phon e case for the plug to fit pr operly .

[ 6 ] MOUNTING THE BASE UNIT ON A W ALL Y ou can moun t your base directly to the wall. Bef ore d oing this, con sider the f ollowing: • Avoi d electrical cables, pipes , or other items behind th e mountin g location that could cause a hazard wh en insertin g screws into th e wall.
[ 7 ] BA TTER Y MAINTENANCE Cleaning the battery charging contacts T o maintain a good charge , it is important to clean the charging contacts on the handset once a month. Use a dry cloth or pencil eraser to clean. Battery use time (per charge) Fully charg ed • Up to 7 hours con tinuous use .
[ 8 ] INST ALLING THE BEL TCLIP T o attach the beltclip Insert th e beltclip into the h oles on each side of th e handset. Press d own until it clicks in to place. T o remo ve the beltclip Pull either si de of th e beltclip to release the tabs from th e holes.

BASICS This handset has a built-in speak erphone that allows you to have a han ds-free conversation. This featur e allows you to communicate easily while perf orming other tasks, su ch as cooking. appears during han ds-free conversations . Y ou can easily switch a call from n ormal conversation to han ds-free conversati on.
The K eypad Lock prevent user fr om pressing the k eypad acciden tally . Y ou can still answer calls , and receive pag e and ph onebook location s, and th e keypad lock is reactivated after th e operation. T o lock the keypad Press an d hold un til you hear a confirmati on tone .
The last thr ee phone n umbers dialed can be quickly redi aled. Redialing from Standb y Mode 1) Press redial/pause in stan dby mode . 2) Press redial/pause again. Each pr ess of redial/pause will display on e of the last thr ee number r edialed. 3) Press or speaker .
[ 23 ] ADJUSTING THE HANDSET RINGER, EARPIECE AND SPEAKER VOLUME Handset ringer volume Press th e volume up key or volum e down key (labeled as /vol/ or /vol/ in standby m ode to select one of thr ee ringer volum e (off, low , or high).
[ 24 ] TRA VELING OUT -OF-RANGE During a call, as you begin to m ove your handset too far fr om your base unit, noise may in crease . If you pass the ran ge limits o f the base unit, you will hear a beep an d see Out of Range on th e display , and th en the han dset returns to stan dby mode .
If you encoun ter interferen ce while using your phone , you can man ually improve th e sound by setting the Clarity Booster to on. This work s only when the phone is in use . 1) Press /del d uring talk time (while phon e is in use). 2) Press /vol/ or /vol/ to m ove the pointer to Clarity Boost , and then .
[ 26 ] FIND HANDSET T o locate the han dset, press on the base when th e base is in standby mod e. All register ed handsets beeps for 60 secon ds, and “ Paging ” appears on th e handset display . T o cancel paging, pr ess any k ey on the handset or on the base .
[ 27 ] USING ONE TOUCH VOICE MAIL ACCESS If you subscribe to voice m ail service , you can use your phone to access your voice mailbo x. The new m essage LED flashes when ever you have messages waitin g in your voice m ailbox.
PHONEBOOK [ 28 ] The Ph onebook allows you to dial a n umber using just a few key presses . Y our phone stores n ames/numbers in th e phonebook mem ory location, and you can sear ch names in alphabetical or der . Y ou have a total of 100 location s that can be used for the phon ebook (includin g the speed dials) and Caller ID m essages.

[ 35 ] CHAIN DIALING The m emory location s in the handset are n ot limited to phone n umbers. Y ou can also store a gr oup of numbers (up to 20 di gits), that you need to enter once your call connects . This is referred to as Chain Di aling. An ex ample of this is a bank account n umber .
[ 36 ] Y ou must subscribe to Caller ID services through y our local telephone provider to use these features . When th e telephone rin gs, the Caller ID feature allows you to vi ew the caller ’ s nam e, an d phon e number along with th e date and time o f call.
[ 37 ] VIEWING THE CALLER ID LIST The Caller ID list stor es informati on for incoming calls - even un answered calls . Y ou can store 100 o f the Caller ID messag es and Ph onebook location s (including SpeedDials) in total. Y ou can view the Caller ID list d uring a call or when th e phone is in standby m ode .

[ 41 ] REGISTER THE HANDSET If you pur chase an extra handset, y ou need to register the handset to the base befor e use. Only one handset can be r egistered at a time . The han dset ID for the suppli ed handset(s) was assigned at the f actory , which has #1 or #2 in th e display (#2 for mod els that have two handsets in packagin g).

[ 43 ] 3-W A Y CONFERENCING INTERCOM/CALL TRANSFER FEA TURE The ph one permits 3-way conversation s between 2 handsets, and an outsi de line . 1) During a call, press on another han dset to initiate the 3-way conversati on. 2) T o remove eith er caller from your conversation, press key on either han dset.
[ 44 ] Call Tr ansfer Featur e 1) During a call, press /transfer/int ’ com . 2) Select a handset to tran sfer the call within 10 seconds . (Refer to step 2 in the inter com section on page 43). The call will autom atically be placed on hold , and an inter com tone sounds .
[ 45 ] The di gital security code is an id entification cod e used to connect the han dset and the base unit. Norm ally , setting th e code is n ot necessary . In the rar e situation that you suspect anoth er cordless telephon e is using the same security cod e, you can chan ge the cod e.
[ 46 ] NOTE ON POWER SOURCES Battery replacement and handling When th e operating tim e becomes short, even after a battery is rechar ged, please r eplace the battery . With norm al usage , your battery should last about one year . Please contact your place of pur chase or the Uni den P arts Departmen t for a replacem ent battery .
