Make sure the radio is off. 2. T urn the screw holding the battery compartment counterclockwise with a screwdriver , and hold up the battery cover .

Press and hold to turn the radio ON. A channel number and battery level should appear on the display .

14 UNIDEN MHS050 Handheld VHF Marine T ransceiver Operation Squelch The squelch is used to eliminate any annoying background noise when there are no signals present. NOTE Make sure to rst select a channel not in use before setting the squelch in your MHS050 VHF Marine radio.

If you increase the squelch level to maximum it raises the ‘Squelch gate’ so only the strongest signals get through. If you decrease the squelch level to minimum it lowers the ‘Squelch Gate’ to the extent that weak signals can get through.

21 Operation UNIDEN MHS050 Handheld VHF Marine T ransceiver Power Save Battery Save feature extends the battery life by switching the receiver circuit power ON and OFF . This feature automatically activates during standby mode (RX mode without signal).
22 UNIDEN MHS050 Handheld VHF Marine T ransceiver Operation Keypad Lock T o prevent accidental entries, you can lock the keypad. Press and hold (LOCK) until it beeps to activate Key Lock. LOCK appears. T o unlock the keypad, press and hold (LOCK) again.
