[ iii ] Installing the AA batteries 1) Press down on th e battery cover release and sli de th e cover down un til it comes off. 2) Install the batteri es supplied with your phon e , observing correct + - polarity . 3) Securely close the battery compartm ent cover by slidin g it up until it sn aps into place .

BASICS On the han dset, you may also use the speak erphone while talking to an outsi de call. Usin g the handset speak erphone is called “ han ds-free conversati on ” . This feature allows you to easily communi cate while performing oth er tasks, such as cooking.
[ 21 ] PLACING A CALL ON HOLD 1) During a call, press . The call will be put on hold . 2) T o talk to the caller , press or on a handset. Th e phone will r eturn back to the call. Y ou can hold a call for 5 min utes, when 5 min utes has passed, th e call is disconnected and the ph one returns to th e standby mode .

[ 23 ] ADJUSTING THE EARPIECE AND HANDSET SPEAKER VOLUME Y ou can select differen t volume levels for th e handset earpiece an d the handset speak er (4 levels: Low to Max). The volum e can only be adjusted during a call. Pr ess / ▲ or ▼ to select the volum e settings.
[ 24 ] TRA VELING OUT -OF-RANGE During a call, as you begin to m ove your handset too far fr om your base unit, noise may in crease . If you pass the ran ge limits o f the base unit, you will hear a beep an d “ Out of Range ” appears, th en the handset return s to the standby m ode .
[ 25 ] FIND HANDSET T o locate the han dset, press on the base wh en the base is in th e standby mod e. The han dset beeps for 60 seconds , and “ Paging ” appears on the han dset display . P aging is canceled wh en pressing any k ey on the handset or on the base .
[ 26 ] USING ONE TOUCH VOICE MAIL ACCESS If you subscribe to voice m ail service , you can use your phone to access your voice mailbo x. The voice mail LED flash es whenever you have m essages waiting in your voice m ailbox. Just progr am the handset with your access number an d you can get your messag es at the touch o f a button.
PHONEBOOK [ 27 ] Phon ebook allows you to dial a number usin g just a few key presses. Y our phon e stores nam es/numbers in th e phonebook m emory location, and you can search n ames in alphabetical or der . Y ou have a total of 100 location s that can be used for th e phonebook (in cluding the Speed di als) and Caller ID messag es.

[ 34 ] CHAIN DIALING The m emory location s in the handset are n ot limited to phone n umbers. Y ou can also store a gr oup of numbers (up to 20 di gits), that you need to enter once your call connects . This is referred to as Chain Di aling. An ex ample of this is a bank account n umber .
CALLER ID [ 35 ] Y ou must subscribe to Caller ID service to use this feature . When th e telephone rin gs, the Caller ID feature allows you to vi ew the caller ’ s nam e and phon e number in the display befor e you answer the ph one . Additi onally , you can dial th e displayed number and stor e the informati on for mem ory dialing.
[ 36 ] VIEWING THE CALLER ID LIST The Caller ID list stor es informati on for incoming calls – even unan swered calls. Y ou can store 100 o f the Caller ID messag es and Ph onebook location s (including Speed Dials) in total. Y ou can view the Caller ID list d uring a call or when th e phone is in th e standby m ode .

Norm ally , setting th e code is n ot necessary . In the rar e situation that you suspect anoth er cordless telephon e is using the same security cod e, you can chan ge the code .
