[ 6 ] MOUNTING THE BASE UNIT ON A W ALL Y ou can moun t your base directly to the wall. Bef ore d oing this, con sider the f ollowing: • Avoi d electrical cables, pipes , or other items behind th e mountin g location that could cause a hazard wh en insertin g screws into th e wall.
[ 7 ] BA TTER Y MAINTENANCE Cleaning the battery charging contacts T o maintain a good charge , it is important to clean the charging contacts on the handset once a month.
[ 8 ] INST ALLING THE BEL TCLIP T o attach the beltclip Insert th e beltclip into the h oles on each side of th e handset. Press d own until it clicks in to place. T o remo ve the beltclip Pull either si de of th e beltclip to release the tabs from th e holes.
The h eadsets is used to make or r eceive a call. With the headset, you can have the convenien ce of hands fr ee communication while usin g your cordless phon e. 1) Place the headset on your h ead so the speaker covers your ear . The oth er end of th e headset sh ould rest comfortably again st the side o f your head above your ear .
[ 10 ] Ther e are 6 main m enu options , ( DirectLink Mode , Room Monitor , Handset Setup, Answ . Setup, Global Setup and System Reset ) and subm enu option s.

BASICS This handset has a built-in speak erphone that allows you to have a han ds-free conversation. This featur e allows you to communicate easily while perf orming other tasks, su ch as cooking. appears during han ds-free conversation s. Y ou can easily switch a call from n ormal conversation to han ds-free conversati on.

The last thr ee phone n umbers dialed can be quickly redi aled. Redialing from Standb y Mode 1) Press redial/pause in stan dby mode . 2) Press redial/pause again. Each pr ess of redial/pause will display on e of the last thr ee number r edialed. 3) Press or speaker .
[ 25 ] ADJUSTING THE HANDSET RINGER, EARPIECE AND SPEAKER VOLUME Handset ringer volume Press th e volume up key or volum e down key (labeled as /vol/ or /vol/ in standby m ode to select one of thr ee ringer volum e (off, low , or high).

[ 27 ] TONE DIALING SWITCH-OVER (AUSTRALIA ONL Y) Some teleph one companies use equipm ent that requires pulse dialin g (sometimes r eferred to as rotary dialin g). If you need to enter ton e dialing di gits, you can switch-over to tone dialin g durin g the call.
[ 28 ] Privacy Mod e allows you privacy , and gu aran tee of no in terruption from other register ed handsets. This w orks only when the phone is in use . 1) Press /del d uring talk time (while phon e is in use). 2) Press /vol/ or /vol/ to m ove the pointer to Privacy Mode , and then .
[ 29 ] FLASH AND CALL W AITING FIND HANDSET If you have Call W aiting service an d a call waiting tone sounds while you ar e on a call, press (or flash on the base) to accept th e waiting call. Ther e is a short pause , and then you will h ear the new caller .
PHONEBOOK [ 30 ] The Ph onebook allows you to dial a n umber using just a few key presses . Y our phone stores n ames/numbers in th e phonebook mem ory location, and you can sear ch names in alphabetical or der . Y ou have a total of 100 location s that can be used for the phon ebook (includin g the speed dials) and Caller ID m essages.

With each press of a n umber key ( - ), the displayed char acter appears in the followin g order: upper case letters first, lower case letters ne xt and finally th e number correspondin g to the k ey .

Otherwise the n ext time you press th e number key , it chang es the character that was previ ously set. [ 37 ] CHAIN DIALING The m emory location s in the handset are n ot limited to phone n umbers. Y ou can also store a gr oup of numbers (up to 20 di gits), that you need to enter once your call connects . This is referred to as Chain Di aling. An ex ample of this is a bank account n umber .
[ 38 ] Y ou must subscribe to Caller ID services through y our local telephone provider to use these features . When th e telephone rin gs, the Caller ID feature allows you to vi ew the caller ’ s nam e, an d phon e number along with th e date and time o f call.
[ 39 ] VIEWING THE CALLER ID LIST The Caller ID list stor es informati on for incoming calls - even un answered calls . Y ou can store 100 o f the Caller ID messag es and Ph onebook location s (including SpeedDials) in total. Y ou can view the Caller ID list d uring a call or when th e phone is in standby m ode .
[ 40 ] Deleting Information fr om the Caller ID List 1) When the ph one is in standby m ode , view th e Caller ID inform ation to be deleted (see “ Vi ewing the Caller ID List ” on page 39). 2) Press /del . Delete Caller ID appears. 3) Press /vol/ or /vol/ to ch oose Yes .

[ 42 ] The ph one has a built-in answerin g system that answers and recor ds incoming calls . Y ou can also use your answerin g system to record a conversati on, leave a voice memo messag e or to announce a speci al outgoing messag e to callers when you ’ re away fr om your phon e.
[ 43 ] Answering Sy stem Default Settings Some an swering system functi ons can be set through the base or han dset. Default settin gs for each functi on are as follows: 1) T o turn the answerin g system on, press ans on/off wh en the ph one is in standby m ode.
[ 44 ] • When th e answering system is full, FL appears on the base . Y ou should delete some m essages so that the system can recor d new messages . • P osition yourself as near to th e base as possible and speak clearly when recor ding your outgoin g message .
[ 45 ] For your convenien ce, voice pr ompts will guid e you through the m enu setup mode. 1) When the ph one is in standby m ode , press /v ol/ or /vol/ r epeatedly to scroll thr ough ringer volum es. The ring er level is displayed, and you will h ear each volume level.
[ 46 ] Setting the Time Follow these steps to set th e clock on the answerin g system to the correct time . 1) Press clock/MENU . 2) Press skip/SELECT or repeat/SELECT until th e correct day is ann ounced and the corr esponding n umber (from 1 Sunday to 7 Satur day) appears.
[ 47 ] Setting the ring time The rin g time setting allows you to set th e number of rings th e caller hears befor e your answerin g system plays the outgoin g message .
[ 48 ] Announce only feature The Ann ounce only feature plays a pr e-recorded outg oing messag e or your own personal outgoin g message , but it will not allow the caller to leave a m essage . T o set “ Announce only ” , follow th e steps on page 47.
[ 49 ] Setting the call screen Y ou can screen calls wh en the Call Screen fun ction is set to On. 1) Press clock/MENU six times. The curr ent Call Screen settin g (On or Off) appears on the base. 2) Press skip/SELECT or repeat/SELECT to choose On or OF .
[ 50 ] The m essage counter displays th e number of messag es stored in mem ory . If the display flashes , then ther e are new messag es waiting for you. Th e answering system plays your n ew messag es first. After you play all your new messag es, you can then play your old m essages .
[ 51 ] Skipping a message 1) Press play/stop to r eview your messag es. The number o f stored messag es is announ ced. 2) Press skip/SELECT at anytim e to skip to the ne xt message . Each time skip/SELECT is pressed , the system scans f orward one messag e.
[ 52 ] V oice memo The voi ce memo fun ction allows the user to recor d messages (m ore than 2 seconds an d within 4 minutes). 1) Press and h old memo record . Y ou hear a beep. 2) Start your recordin g after the announ cemen t “ Record Mem o Message ” an d a confirmati on tone .
[ 53 ] Y ou can check, play , or delete m essages, even r ecord a new gr eeting message fr om a rem ote location (when you ar e away from home , or from anoth er room using a handset). Ad ditionally , you can turn On or Off your answerin g system remotely .
