13 Index Contents 13 Index Contents CONFIGURING THE TABLET ORIENTATION When you first installed Intuos5, you were pr ompted to choose a default ta blet orientation. The orie ntation you chose was used to determine the tablet default settings. However , you can easily reconfigur e Intuos5 for left- or right-handed users at any time.

The USB cable can be co nnected to best suit your preferr ed handedness. • For right-handed use , connect t he USB cable to the tablet as is. • For left-handed use , make a loose loop and press the cable into the looping clip located on the USB plug.

17 Index Contents 17 Index Contents W ORKING WITH MULTIPLE MONITORS If your computer is equipped with more than one mo nitor , Intuos 5 will map to the monitors based upon how they are configured in the display pr operties control panel.

19 Index Contents 19 Index Contents HOLDING THE PEN Hold the Grip Pen as you would a normal pen or pencil. Adjust your grip so that the side switch is in a convenient location where you can ea sily toggle it with your thumb or forefinger . Be careful not to accidently press the switch while drawing or positioning with t he pen.
20 Index Contents 20 Index Contents POSITIONING Use the pen to position the cursor (or pointer) on y our screen. Y ou can set the pen to position the scr een cursor two different ways: pen mode or mouse mode . See ta b l e t t o s c r e e n m a p p i n g .

DRAGGING Dragging is used to select and mo ve objects on the monitor screen. Clicking . T ap the pen tip once on the tablet, or press the pen tip on the tablet with enough force to register a click.
22 Index Contents 22 Index Contents USING THE SIDE SWITCH The pen side switch has two customizable functions that can be selected by r o cking the switch in either direction. Y ou can use the switch whenever the pen tip is within 10 mm (0.4 inch) of the tablet acti ve area.
23 Index Contents 23 Index Contents DRAWING WITH PRESSUR E SENSITIVITY The pen responds to your hand movements, enabling you to cr eate natural-looking pen and brush strokes within applications that support this feature. Many graphics applications have drawing tools that respond to the pr essure you pl ace on the pen.

V isit www .wacom.com for a list of appl icat ions that support the eraser (see also product information ). If the eraser is not supported in an application, you can still use the e raser for positioning, drawing, or annotation.

For best recognition of this ge sture, start with your fingers positioned diagonally on the tablet surface and keep them at least 25 mm (1 inch) apart.

Tilt sensitivity determines how far you have to tilt the tool to produce the maximum tilt ef fect. Y ou need to tilt the pen less at high sensitivity than at low sensitivity .
