2 38 Hardware Installation 2.6.10 CPU Fan Connector Pin 1 2 3 Function Ground Pow e r Sense The processor must be kept cool by using a fan with heatsink. Connect the CPU fan to the 3-pin fan connector at location J18 on the mainboard. The system is capable of monitoring the speed of the CPU fan.

56 3 Award BIOS Setup Utility 3.1 The Basic Input/Output System The Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) is a program that takes care of the basic level of communication between the processor and peripherals. In addition, the BIOS also contains codes for various advanced features f ound in this mainboard.
57 3 Award BIOS Setup Utility Date The date format is <day>, <month>, <date>, <year>. Day displays a da y , from Sunday to Saturday . Month displays the month, from Jan uar y to December . Date displays the date, from 1 to 31. Y ear displa ys the y ear , from 1990 to 2098.
58 3 Award BIOS Setup Utility IDE Primar y/Secondar y Master/Slave If you wish to def ine y our o wn dr ive type manuall y , select Manual. The dr ive type inf o rmation should be included in the documentation from y our hard disk vendor .
59 3 Award BIOS Setup Utility Halt On This field determines whether the system will stop if an error is detected during po wer up. The default setting is All Er rors. No Errors The system boot will not stop for any error s detected. All Errors The system boot will stop whenever the BIOS detects a non-fatal er ror .

Some entries are defaults required by the mainboard, while other s, if enabled, will improve the performance of your system or let you set some features according to your preference.

Once the system has detected that the CPU s temperature exceeded the limit set in this f ield, a war ning alarm will beep if the W ar ning_Beep field is set to Enabled.

87 3 Award BIOS Setup Utility CPU Clock Ratio This f ield is used to select the CPU s frequency r atio. Important: The frequency ratio of some processors may have been locked by the manufacturer . If you are using this kind of processor , setting an extended ratio for the processor will have no effect.
88 3 Award BIOS Setup Utility 3.1.9 Load Fail-Safe Defaults The Load Fail-Safe Defaults option loads the troub leshooting default values permanently stored in the ROM chips. These settings are not optimal and turn off all high perfo rmance features.

91 4 Supported Software 4.1 Desktop Management Interface (DMI) The mainboard comes with a DMI built into the BIOS. DMI, along with the appropr iately netw or ked software, is designed to make i n ventor y , maintenance and troubleshooting of computer systems easier .
92 4 Supported Software 4.1.2 Using the DMI Utility The four menus located on top of the DMI Configuration Utility screen are Edit DMI, Add DMI, Load DMI File and Save DMI File. Use the ← or → (left or right) arrow keys to select a menu from the Menu bar .
93 4 Supported Software Add DMI 1. Use the ← or → ar row keys to select the Add DMI menu. 2. Highlight the item on the left screen that you would like to add by using the ↑ o r ↓ arrow keys, then press <Enter>. 3 .
