Chapter 1 10 Data LED indicati ons 1 The Data LED (light emitti ng diode) will flash depen ding on the machine ’s status. LED Ma chine Status Descrip tion Ready Mode The ma chine is re ady to print, in sleep m ode, there is no print data, or the pow er switch is off.

Chapter 2 20 Envel ope s 2 Most envelopes will be s uitable f or your machi ne. However, so m e envel opes may hav e feed and print -quality pr oblems bec ause of t he way t hey have been made. A sui table envelope shoul d ha v e edges wit h str aight, wel l-creased folds and t he leadi ng edge sho uld not be t h icker than two sheets of paper .

Us e standard 80 gsm paper and a lways fan the pag es bef ore putt ing t hem in t he ADF. IMPORT ANT • DO NOT leave thic k document s on the scanner g lass (Fl atbed).
Loading pa per and docume nts 23 2 Us ing the scann er glas s (Flat bed ) 2 You can use the sca nner glass to fax, copy or scan pag es of a boo k one page at a time. Documents can be up to 215.9 mm wide and 297 mm long. Note To use the scann er glas s , the ADF mus t be empty.
24 3 Mode Time r 3 The mach ine has thr ee mode keys on the con trol panel: Fa x , Scan , and Copy . You can set how muc h time the machine takes after the last Copy or Scan operation t o retur n to Fax mode default. If you choo s e Off , the machine wil l s tay in the mode yo u us ed las t .

Remote Fax Opti ons (black & white on ly) 73 9 F ax Storage 9 The Fax Storage feat ure lets you store your received faxes in the machine’s memory. You can ret rieve stored f ax messages from a fax machine at another location using th e remot e retrie v a l commands.

79 10 10 Polling lets you s et up your machin e so other people can receiv e faxes from you, but they pay for the call. It als o lets you c all somebody else’s fax mac hine and receive a fax from it, so you pay for the call. The polling feat ure needs to be s et up on both machines fo r this to work.
