6 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION The ov en timer offers you the f ollowing featur es: 1. Time of Day 2. Automatic C ook ing 3. Minute Minder GUIDANCE ON A UTOMA TIC C OOKING 1. Select foods which will take the same time to cook. 2. Set the oven timer so that the f ood has just finished or is just about to finish cooking on your return to the oven.

8 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION SETTING THE TIME OF DA Y Step 1 Make sure all oven controls ar e turned Off. Step 2 Check the electricity supply to the cooker is turned on. Step 3 When switched on the display will show 0.00 and A uto symbol will be flashing intermittently .
9 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION Step 3 Press and hold in the C ook Period button. The display will read 0.00 with the cookpot ( ) symbol lit . Step 4 With the Cook P eriod button still held in, set the required Coo k Period using the “+” and “–” buttons .
10 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION Step 4 Press & hold in the “C ook Period” button, the display will read 0.00 and the cookpot ( ) symbol will light up. With the Cook P eriod button still held set the required Cook P eriod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
O THER NOTES ON TIMER OPERA TION 1. When cooking Automatically the Cook P eriod can be checked at an y time simply by pressing the Cook Period button. 2. When cooking Automatically the End Time can be checked at any t ime by simply pr essing the End Time button.
12 HO TPLA TE The hotplate lid is fitted with a saf et y device which cuts off the gas supply to the hotplate burners unless the lid is fully open. Do not use the s afety device as a means of controlling the hotplat e burners. All spillages must be remov ed from the sur face of the lid befor e opening .
13 HO TPLA TE SAFET Y REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP F A T FRYING 1. Nev er fill chip pans more than one third full with oil or fat . 2. Nev er leave oil or fat unattended during the heating or cooli ng period . 3. Nev er heat fat or fr y with a lid on the pan.
T O USE THE GRILL 1. Check that the electricity supply is switched on. 2. Open the grill door and remove the grill pan. 3. Press the ignition butt on and then push in and turn the control knob anti- clockwise to the large flame symbol. Continue to pr ess the igni tion button until the sparks light the gas.
The ov en has different heat z ones – the thermostat settings ref er to the t emperature on the middle shelf position; above this shelf it is hott er and below it is cooler . T wo shelves pro vide five possible cooking levels enabling full use of the different t emperatures inside the ov en.
C OLD ST ART C OOKING Anything requiring long slow c ooking such as casseroles and ric h fruit cakes can be put into a cold ov en. S atisfactor y results can also be obtained with creamed mixture, rich pastries or yeast mixtures, but for perfection we recommend preheating the o ven for about 15 minutes at the gas mark y ou require for c ooking.
The following times and setting ar e for guidance only . Y ou may wish to alter the setting t o give a result more to your sa tisfaction. When a different setting to t hat shown belo w is given in a recipe , the recipe instructions should be followed .

The ‘E’ setting on the ov en thermostat is used for slow cooking , keeping f ood warm and warming plates for short periods. USING THE ‘E’ SETTING FOR SLOW C OOKING 1. All dishes cooked by the ‘E’ setting should be cooked for a minimum 6 hours.
Switch off the electricity supply and allow to c ool before cleaning the cooke r . Clean the cooker r egularly and wipe up spills so on after they occur to prev ent them from becoming burnt on. Nev er use biologic al washi ng powder , caustic cleaners, harsh abrasiv es, scouring pads, aeros ol cleaners or o ven chemical cleaners of any kind .

23 CARE AND CLEANING Take particular care not to damage the inner sur face of the door inner glass that is coated with a hea t reflec tive la yer . Do not use scouring pad s, or abrasiv e powder , which will scratch the glass . Ensure that the glass panel is not subjected to any sharp mechanical blo ws.

C ONNECTING TO GAS SUPPL Y The cooker is designed to match the depth of standar d 600mm wor ktops. An adaptor backplate should, theref ore, be fitted within the shaded area shown t o allow the cooker to be pushed fully to the wall. Connection to the cooker should be made with an approv ed appliance flexible connection to BS 669.
Connection to the electricity supply should be made via a properly ear thed, readily accessible wall socket which is adjacent to but not directly above , and not more than 1.25m away from the appliance and capable of electrical isolation. The mains lead should be routed such that it cannot t ouch hot par ts of the cooker i.
