8 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION SET TING THE TIME OF DA Y Step 1 Make sure all oven contr ols are turned Off. Step 2 Check the electricity supply to the cooker is turned on. Step 3 When switched on the display will sho w 0.00 and Auto symbol will be flashing intermittently .
9 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION Step 3 Press and hold in the C ook Period button. The display will r ead 0.00 with the cookpot ( ) symbol lit . Step 4 With the Cook P er iod button still held in, set the requir ed Coo k P eriod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
10 O VEN TIMER OPER A TION Step 4 Press & hold in the “ Cook P er iod” button, the display will read 0.00 and the cookpot ( ) symbol will light up. With the Cook P er iod button still held set the requir ed Cook P eriod using the “+” and “–” buttons.
O THER NO TES ON TIMER OPERA TION 1. When cooking Automatically the C ook Period can be checked at an y time simply by pressing the C ook P eriod button. 2. When cooking Automatically the End Time can be checked at any t ime b y simply pressing the End Time button.
12 HO TPLA TE The hotplate lid is fitt ed with a safety device which cuts off the gas supply to the hotplate burners unless the lid is fully open. Do not use the s afety device as a means of controlling the hotpla te burners. All spillages must be remov ed from the sur face of the lid befor e opening .
13 HO TPLA TE SAFET Y REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP F A T FR YING 1. Never fill chip pans more than one thir d full with oil or fat . 2. Never lea ve oil or fat unatt ended during the heating or cooli ng period . 3. Never heat fat or fry with a lid on the pan.
T O USE THE GRILL 1. Check that the electricit y supply is switched on. 2. Open the grill door and remov e the grill pan. 3. Pr ess the ignition button and then push in and turn the control knob anti- clockwise to the large flame symbol. Continue t o press the igni tion button until the sparks light the gas.
The ov en has differ ent heat zones – the thermostat settings ref er to the temper ature on the middle shelf position; abov e this shelf it is hotter and below it is cooler . T wo shelves pro vide five possible cooking levels enabling full use of the differen t temperatures inside the o ven.
C OLD ST ART C OOKING Anything r equiring long slow cooking such as casseroles and ric h fruit cak es can be put into a cold o ven. Satisfactor y results can also be obtained with creamed mixture , rich pastries or yeast mixtures, but f or per fection we recommend prehea ting the oven for about 15 minutes a t the gas mark you require f or cooking.
The follo wing times and setting are for guidance only . Y ou may wish to alter the setting t o give a result more to y our satisfaction. When a different setting to t ha t shown below is given in a r ecipe, the recipe instructions should be followed .

The ‘E’ setting on the ov en thermostat is used for slo w cooking , keeping food warm and warming plates f or shor t periods. USING THE ‘E’ SET TING FOR SL OW C OOKING 1. All dishes cooked by the ‘E’ setting should be cooked for a minimum 6 hours .
Swit ch off the electricit y supply and allow to c ool before cleaning the coo ker . Clean the cook er regularly and wipe up spills soon after they occur to prev ent them from becoming burnt on. Ne v er use biological washi ng powder , caustic cleaners, harsh abr asiv es, sc ouring pads, aer os ol cleaners or ov en chemical cleaners of any kind .

23 CARE AND CLEANING Take particular care not to damage the inner sur face of the door inner glass that is coat ed with a heat reflective la yer . Do not use scouring pad s, or abr asive powder , which will scra tch the glass. Ensur e that the glass panel is not subjected to an y sharp mechanical blows .

C ONNECTING TO GAS SUPPL Y The cooker is designed to mat ch the depth of standard 600mm wor ktops . An adaptor backplate should, ther efore , be fitted within the shaded area shown to allow the cooker to be pushed fully to the wall. Connection to the cooker should be made with an approv ed appliance flexible connection to BS 669.
Connection to the electricity supply should be made via a proper ly earthed, readily accessible wall socket which is adjacent to but not directly abov e, and not more than 1.25m a way fr om the appliance and capable of electrical isolation. The mains lead should be routed such tha t it cannot touch hot par ts of the cooker i.
