8 Disposal 2 P ackaging material The packaging materials ar e environmentally friendly and can be r ecy- cled. The plastic components ar e id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appropriate container at the community waste disposal facilities.
9 Switching on the appliance for the first time – setting the language When switching on the appliance fo r the fir st time you must set the language in which you want the indicator s in the display to appear . 1. T urn the appliance on by pr essing the contr ol knob so that it is no longer flush in the contr ol panel.

12 Main contr ol featur es This chapter describes how to set a large number of functions and com- bine them with each other using only a few contr ol elements (1 contr ol knob and 4 buttons). This simple cont r ol method is made easy thanks to the inter a ctive display .
13 Navigation display The functions ar e detailed over levels and pages within the washing machine display . One level can include a number of pages. Y ou can see from the navi- gation display which level and page you are curr ently on (her e : level 3, page 1 of 2).
14 Buttons and levels Using the buttons you can: – select the option that is next to the button on the right, e. g. START ; – change settings, e.g.
15 3. Level: EXTRAS ì (3r d level, page 1 of 2) On this level you can set var- ious basic settings. These ba- sic settings will not be cancelled when you switch off the washing machin e. These basic settings will re- main active until they are cancelled.

17 Overview of functions Pr ogrammes (Level 1) W ash pr ogr ammes LINEN/E ASY -CARE W ash progr amme (20 °C to 60 °C) for cottons/ colour eds (cotton/linen), easy-care (mixed fab- rics, e.g. cotton/polyester) and synthetics. The ap- pliance adjusts the progr amme according to the differ ent fabric types and load sizes.
18 LINGERIE Gentle wash progr amme which washes at 40 °C for fine and delicate fabrics. Important: Place padded lingerie in a washing net or bag. 40°-60° MIX Pr ogramme for coloureds when variou s wash temper atures ar e indicat- ed for the items to be washed.
19 STARCH Separ a te star ching, separate condit ioning, separ ate impregnating of damp washing (1 rinse cycle, liquid conditioner is rinsed in from the w additive compartment, spin). This pr ogramme setting can also be used to carry out a separ ate rinse cycle.
20 DELA Y START The DELA Y ST ART option allows the start of a wash progr amme to be delayed. The DELA Y START option can be set at 30-minute intervals.
21 RINSE + P The washing machine is set such that its water con- sumption is extremely eco- nomical. For people with aller gies and in areas wher e the water is very soft, it can however be helpful to use mor e water when rinsing.
22 Pr eparing a W ash Load Sorting and pr eparing a wash load • Sort the washing accor ding to care symbol (see “W ashing Types and Car e Symbols”).
23 T ypes of washing and care symbols Car e symbols help yo u to choose the correct wash pr ogramme. W ashing should be sorted by type and according to care symbols. The temper a- tur es indicated on the care symbols ar e the maximum wash temper a- tur es.
24 W ashing D eter gents and Care Agents Which washing detergent and car e agent ? Use only washing deter gents and care agents which ar e suitable for use in washing machines.
25 W ater softener For medium to high water hardness (har dness class II upwards), you should use softener . Refer to the ma nufactur er's instructions. Then al- ways add the appropriate amount of deter gent for hardness class I (= soft). The r esponisable water wo rks will pr ovide information on the local water har dness.

27 Carrying out a wash progr amme prior to first use Prior to washing your fir st load, ca rry out a wash cycle without wash- ing (LINEN/EASY -C. 60°, with half the amount of deter gent). T h is w i l l re m o ve re s i d u e s re ma i n i n g as a r esult of the production pr oc- ess from the drum and water container .
28 P erforming a wash cycle Opening and closing the door • T o open: pull the handle on the door . • T o close: firmly push the door shut 3 If the O symbol is showing in the display , the door can be opened. If the N symbol is showing in the display , the door is blocked.
29 Compartment for deter gent in powder form/tablets to be used for main wash (left): If you ar e using water softener and r e quir e the right-hand compart- ment for the deter gent for the pre wash, place the water softener in the left-hand compartment on top of the deter gent for the main wash.
30 Setting a wash pr ogramme 1. Pr ess the contr ol knob . The appliance is now switched on. 2. Use the contr ol knob to highlight the desired wash pr ogramme, e.g. DELICATES. 3. Pr ess the button for the wash temperatur e and con- tinue pr essing it until the desir ed temperatur e appear s (e.
31 Set the options, e.g. DELA Y START This option allows the start time for a wash pr ogramme to be delayed fr om 30 minutes to a maximum of 23.5 hour s. 1. Pr ess the OPTIONS button. 2. Use the contr ol knob to highlight the DELA Y START option. 3. Pr ess the SELECT button.
32 Starting a wash pr ogramme 1. Check that the water tap is o pen. 2. After you have set the wash pr ogr amme and any options, pr ess the ST ART button. The wash pr ogramme will start. 3 Approx. 30 seconds after the washing machine is switched on or after a button or the contro l knob was last actuated, the START indicator will begin to fl ash.
33 W ash progr a mme pr ogress Each curr ent stage of the pr ogramme is shown in the display during the wash pro- gr amme, e.g. main wash, and a bar showing the pro- gr amme progress. The N symbol is displayed as the progr amme progr esses: the loading door is locked.
34 When the wash pr ogramme is complete When a wash progr amme is comple te, PLEASE TAKE OUT THE CLO THES will appear in the display . 3 If you do not press any buttons or press the contr ol knob within thr ee minutes of the progr amme finishing, the washing machine will switch into standby mode.
35 3. Pr ess the ST ART button. – If short spin is selected the wate r will be dr ained and the washing gently spun. – If dr ain is selected the water will be drained (without being spun). Unloading the washing If the O § symbol is shown in the display , the door can be opened.
36 MEMORY Saving a pr ogramme setting The MEMORY basic setting can be used to save fr equently-used pro- gr amme combinations (wash pr ogra mme, temperatur e, spin speed and option/s). Ther e are four memory cell s available fo r this purpose. The saved pr ogramme can then be selected in the same way as any other wash pr ogramme.

39 Changing the language Y ou can change the language setting if you would like the indicators in the display to appear in a different language. 1. Pr ess the contr ol knob . The appliance is switched on. 2. Pr ess the OPTIONS button. 3. Pr ess the EXTRAS button.
40 6. Use the contr ol knob to highlight the desired lan- guage, e.g. English. As soon as the language is highlighted, the indicators in the display will change to this language. 7. Use the SELECT button to save the selected language. All indicator s in the display will immediatel y appear in this language.
41 Cleaning and maintenance Important! Do not use furnitur e car e pr odu cts or aggressive cleaner s to clean the appliance. Wipe control panel and body with a damp cloth. Cleaning pr ocedure If you plan to wash mainly at low temper ature, you should run a hot pr ogramme fr om time to time.
42 Door and rubber collar Regularly check whether deposits or for eign bodies are pr esent in the folds of the rubber collar or on the inside o f the glass door .
43 If the err or code is displayed again, please contact customer service. In such an event, please pr ovide the error code shown in the display and the PNC no. shown. Problem Pos s i bl e ca u se Remed y The washing machin e does not work. The power plug is no t connected.
44 Water is running out from under the wash- ing machine. The threaded inlet hose fit- ting is leaking. Screw the inlet hose in firmly . The outlet hose i s leaking. Check the ou tlet hose and replace if necessary . The drain pump cover is no t closed properly .
45 The display goes out while a wash pro- gramme is running. A power failure has occurred. For reasons related to safety , the filling d oor will remain locked for approx. 4 minutes. As soon as the power failure is over the wash progr amme will continue.
46 The washing has not been spun t hor oughly and water remains visi- ble in the drum. AT TE N TI O N E R R OR CODE (C2) / PLEASE CHECK THE WA TER DRAINAGE is showing in the display .
47 If the wash r esults are not satisfactory W ashing is grey and scale is b e ing deposited in the drum • T oo little detergent is being used. • The right deter gent was not used. • Special soiling was not pr e-treated. • Pr ogr amme or temp er ature was not correctly set.
48 Carrying out emer gency dr ainage • If the washing machine no longer pumps off the washing solution, emer gency drainage must be performed. • If the washing machine i s in a r oom where ther e is a risk of frost, emer gency drainage must be performed if ther e is a possibility of fr ost.
49 When the water is completely drained: 6. Push the plug securely into the em er gency drainage hose and turn it clockwise to secure it. 7. Replace the emergency dr ainage hose in its holder . 8. Put on the flap and close. Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance free.
50 5. Replace the pump cover . Laterally insert the webs on the cover into the guide slots and scr ew on the cover in a clockwise dir ection. 6. Close the emergency emptying hose and place it in the holder .
51 Child Safety Featur e If the child safety featur e is set, the filling door can no longer be closed and no washing pr ogram can be started Setting the child safety featur e Use a coin to turn the r otary knob on the inside of the filling door clockwise as far as it will go.

54 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information for the installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st t ime, check the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being tr anspor ted. Do not under any cir cumstanc- es connect an appliance that is damaged.
55 Installing the appliance T ransporting the appliance 1 Wa r n i n g ! The washing machine is very heavy . Risk of injury . Be careful when lifting. • Do not lay the appliance on its fr on t nor on its right side (as seen fr o m the front). Electrical components may get wet.
