9 Switching on the appliance for the first time – setting the language When sw itching on th e applian ce fo r the first time you must set the language in which you want the indicator s in the display to appear . 1. 12 Main contr ol featur es This chapter describes how to set a large number of functions and com- bine them with each ot her using only a few contr ol elements (1 control knob and 4 buttons). This simple cont rol method is made easy thanks to the inter active di splay .
13 Navigation display The functions ar e detailed over levels and pages within the washing machine display . One level can include a numbe r of pages . Y ou can see from the navi- gation display which level and page you ar e curr ently on (here: level 3, page 1 of 2).
14 Buttons and levels Using the buttons you can: – select the option that is next to the button on the right, e. g. ST ART ; – change settings, e.g.
15 3. Level: EXTR AS ì (3r d level, page 1 of 2) On this level you can set var- ious basic settings. These ba- sic settings will not be cancelled when you switch off the washing machine. These basic settings will re- main active until they ar e cancelled.
16 5. Pr ess the OPTIONS button. 6. Use the control knob to highlight the STAIN option. 7. Pr ess the SELECT button. A tick will appear on the right next to ST AIN.
17 Overview of functions Pr ogrammes (level 1) Wa s h pro gra m m e s LINEN/EASY -CARE W ash progr amme (20 °C to 60 °C) for cottons/ coloureds (cotton/linen), easy-car e (mixed fab- rics, e.g. cotton/polyester) and synthetics. The ap- pliance adjusts the progr amme accor ding to the differ ent fabri c types and load sizes.
18 LINGERIE Gentle wash progr amme which washes at 40 °C for fine and delicate fabrics. Important: Place padded lingerie in a washing net or bag. 40°-60° MIX Pr og r amme for coloureds when various wash temper atures ar e indicat- ed for the items to be washed.
19 STARCH Separate star ching, separ ate conditioning, separate impr egnating of damp washing (1 rinse cycle, liquid conditioner is rinsed in fr om the w additive compartment, spin). This progr amme setting can also be used to carry out a separ a te rinse cycle.
20 DELA Y START The DELA Y START o ption allows the start of a wash pr o gr amme to be delayed. The DELA Y ST ART option can be set at 30-minute intervals. The current time and the pr ogramme end ti me will be show n in the di splay (e.g. 14:23 - 20:28).
21 RINSE+ P The washing machine is set such that its water con- sumption is extremely eco- nomical. For people with allergies and in ar eas where the water is very soft, it can however be helpful to use mor e water when rinsing.
22 Pr eparing a W ash Load Sorting and pr epar ing a wash load • Sort the washing accor ding to care symbol (see “Washing T y pes and Care Symbols”).
23 T ypes of washing and care symbols Car e symbols help you to choose the correct wash pr ogramme. W ashing should be sorted by type and acco rding to car e symbols. The tempera- tures indicated on the car e sym bols are the maximum wash tempera- tures.
24 W ashing Detergents and Car e Agents Which washing deter gent and care agent ? Use only washing deter gents and care agents which ar e suitable for use in washing machines.

26 Carrying out a wash pr ogram me prior to first use Prior to washing your fir st load, ca rry out a wash cycle without wash- ing (LINEN/EASY -C. 60°, with half the amount of detergent). This will remove r esidues remaining as a r esult of the production pr oc- ess fr om the drum and water container .
27 P erforming a wash cycle Opening and closing the door • To open: pull the handle on the door . • To close: firmly push the door shut 3 If the O symbol is showing in the display , the door can be opened. If the N symbol is showing in the di splay , the door is blocked.
28 Adding deter gents/ conditioners 3 For instructions on the use of dete rgents and conditioner s, please see the section “D eter gents and conditioner s” . 1. Open the detergent dr awer: close your finger s around the flap at the bottom of the dr awer (1); pull out the drawer as far as it will go (2).
29 3 If using liquid detergents/tablets: Add the liquid detergent or tablets using the me asuring container pro- vided by the detergent manufactur er . Follow the instructions on the deter ge nt packaging. Setting a wash pr ogramme 1. Pr ess the co ntr o l knob .
30 Set the options , e.g. DELA Y START This option allows the start time for a wash pr ogramme to be delayed fr om 30 minute s to a maximum of 23.5 hours. 1. Pr ess the OPTIONS button. 2. Use the control knob to highlight the DELA Y START option. 3. Pr ess the SELECT button.
31 Starting a wash pr ogramme 1. Check that the water tap is open. 2. After you have set the wash pr og r amme and any o ptions, pr ess the START button. The wash progr amme will start. 3 Approx. 30 seconds after the washing machine is switched on or after a button or the control knob was last actuated, the ST ART indicator will begin to flash.
32 W ash progr amme progr ess Each curr ent stage of the pr og r amme is shown in the display during the wash pr o- gr amme, e.g. main wash, and a bar showing the pr o- gr amme progress. The N symbol is displ ayed as the progr amme progr esses: the loading door is locked.
33 When the wash pr ogramme is complete When a wash progr amme is complete, PLEASE TAKE OUT THE CLO THES will appear in the display . 3 If you do not pr ess any buttons or pr ess the contr ol knob within three minutes of the progr amme finishing, the washing machine will switch into standby mode.
34 3. Pr ess the START button. – If short spin is selected the water will be drained and the washing gently spun. – If dr ain is selected the water will be drained (without being spun). Unloading the washing If the O § symbol is shown in the display , the door can be opened.
35 MEMORY Saving a pr ogramme setting The MEMORY basic setting can be used to save frequently-used pr o- gr amme combinations (wash progr amme, temper ature, spin speed and option/s). There ar e four memory cells available for this purp ose. The saved progr amme can then be selected in the same way as any other wash progr amme.
36 If MEMORY is highlighted: 8. Pr ess the SELECT button. If MEMORY 1 is highlighted: 9. Pr ess the SAVE button. The pr ogramme setting has now been saved. 10 . Pr ess the BACK button three times. 38 Changing the language Y ou can change the language setting if you would like the indicator s in the display to appear in a differ ent language. 1. Pr ess the co ntr o l knob . The appliance is switched on. 2. Pr ess the OPTIONS button. 3. Pr ess the EXTRAS button.
39 6. Use the control knob to highlight the desired lan- guage, e.g. English. As soon as the la nguage is highlighted, the indicators in the display will change to this language. 7. Use the SELECT button to save the selected language. All indic ators in the displ ay will immediately appear in this language.
40 Cleaning and Car e Contr ol panel Important! Do not use any furniture clea ning agents or aggr essive cleaning agents in or der to clean panel and control parts. Wipe contr ol panels with a damp cloth. When doing so, use warm wa- ter . Deter gent Drawer The deter gent drawer should be cleaned fr om time to time.
41 7. Use a brush to clean the entire rinsing-in section of the washing machine, particularly also the noz- zles on the top side of the rinsing- in chamber . 8. Set the deter gent drawer into the guide tr acks and push in. Wa s h in g D r u m The washing drum is made of stainl ess steel.
42 What to do if... Remedying a malfunction In the event of a malfunction, try to r ectify the problem your self with the aid of the instructions provided her e.
43 The wash programme will no t begin aft er the START button was pr essed. ATTENTION / PLEASE CLOS E THE DOOR is showing in the display . The door is not closed prop- erly . Close the door - ther e should be an audible clic k. Pre ss the START bu tton.
44 Water is running out fr om under the wash- ing machine. The thread ed inlet hose fit- ting is leaking. Scr e w the inlet hose in firmly . The outlet hose is leaking. Check the o utlet hose and replace if necessary . The drain pump cover is not closed properly .
45 The display goes out while a wash pr o- gr amme is running. A power failur e has occurr ed. F o r re as on s re l a t e d t o s a fe ty , the filling door will r emain locked for appr ox. 4 minutes. As soon as the power failur e is over the w ash pr ogr amme will continue.
46 The washing has not been spun thoroughly and water r emains v isi- ble in the dru m. A TTENTION CD 2 / PLEASE CHE CK THE WATE R D RA INA G E i s showing in the display . The outlet hose is kinked. Str aighten the h ose. The maximum pump height (outlet heigh t 1 m fr om the washing machine’s installa- tion surface) has been exceeded.
47 If the washing r esults are not satisfactory If the washing has turned grey and if limesca le is deposited in the drum, then • Too little deter gent was used. • The wr ong detergent was used. • Special soiling was not pre-tr eated. • Progr am or temperatur e not set corr ectly .
48 Carrying out emer gency drainage • If the washing machine no longer pumps off the washing solution, emergency dr ainage must be performed. • If the washing machine is in a r oom where th ere is a risk of fr ost, emergency dr ainage must be perfor med if there is a possibility of fr ost.
49 When the water is completely dr ained: 6. Push the plug secur ely into the em ergency dr ainage hose and turn it clockwise to secu r e it. 7. Replace the emergency dr ainage hose in its holder . 8. Put on the flap and close. Dr ain pum p The drain pump is maintenance fr ee.
50 5. Replace the pump cover . Laterally insert the webs on the cover into the guide slots and scr ew on the cover in a clockwise direction. 6. Close the emergency emptying hose and place it in the holder .
51 Child Safety Featur e If the child safety featur e is set, the filling door can no longer be closed and no washing progr am can be started Setting the child safety feature Use a coin to turn the r otary knob on the inside of the filling door clockwise as far as it will go.

58 Installation on vibr ating floors Wher e the floor vib r ates, particular ly in the case of wooden beam floor s with pliable boards, secur e ly screw a water-r esistant wooden panel at least 15mm thick onto at least 2 floor planks.
59 Electrical connection Details of the mains voltage, current type and requir ed fuses can be found on the r ating plate. The rat- ing plate is located at the top above the filling door .
60 W ater inflow A pr e ssure hose 1.5 m in length is supplied. If a longer inflow hose is r equired, only a VDE-appr o ved, complete set of hoses with fitted hose scr ew co nnections offered by our Customer Service is permissible. – Hose sets in lengths of 2.
