17 Setup Connection t o P o w er 1. The po wer switch is located on the front of the print er rece ssed below the control panel. Check that the pow er switch is turned OFF . 2. Insert the pow er cord in t o the inlet on the print er . 3. Insert the plug of the pow er cord in the A C outlet.
1 Se tup 18 Connection t o a Comput er This product ha s three int erfaces that can be used t o r eceive printing da ta: a serial port (RS2 3 2C), par allel port (IEEE1 2 8 4, Non-L. P . S.), and a USB port (USB1.1). A n op tional internal ne tw ork int erface can be added by y our dealer .
19 Print er Oper ation P o w er ON/OFF T urning on the po wer 1. The pow er switch is convenientl y locat ed at the front of the printer for ea sy access during normal oper ation. It is in the rece ss underneath the control panel so it cannot be accidentally oper at ed by mistak e.
2 Print er Oper ation 20 1 P A USE k ey: T empor arily pauses printing • When this ke y is pushed once, the L CD indicat es "P ause" and the print er t empor arily pauses. • When it is pushed during printing, the printer pauses aft er the label currentl y being printed is issued.
21 Print er Oper ation LED F unc tions 1 PO WER LED It light s up when print er po wer is turned on. (green) 2 ERR OR LED This is lit or flashes when the printer is in error st atus.
2 Print er Oper ation 22 Set ting the Media Media Sizes The position of label and t ag media is sensed b y either a tr anspar ent sensor or a reflectiv e sensor .
23 Print er Oper ation * Use a tr ansparent sensor for label media gaps and media with black marks. * Use a tr ansparent sensor for fan fold media. * If the label pitch is 1 inch or less, se t the Small Media Adjustment menu to ON and match it t o the label that uses the v alue of the Small Media Length menu.

It is advisable t o pull a length of media forwar ds and through the mechanism r eady for la ter positioning. 5. Mov e the media r oll so it is t ouching the left side of the housing.
2 Print er Oper ation 26 2. Install the unused ribbon and holder in t o the rear ribbon drive unit. The splines on the ribbon drive gear mechanism engage with the end of the ribbon holder . 1 2 Set ting the Ribbon The following kinds and size s of ribbons can be used.
27 Print er Oper ation 3. Push the lar ge blue head-open lev er t o r elease the head unit. Pull out the ribbon from the bot t om of the head unit to the ribbon winding side. 4. Using tape etc., fix the ribbon tha t you ha ve pulled out on the ribbon holder on which the paper cor e has been set and wind it on the ribbon holder .
2 Print er Oper ation 28 6. Lo wer the head unit back down to the closed position. Push the head close knob firmly to close and lock the mechanism. The mechanism is only lock ed correctl y when you head a “click” . If the ribbon is wrinkled, push the FEED ke y until the wrinkles disappear .
29 Print er Oper ation Mode Set tings HEX Dump Mode When using label media T urn on print er po wer while pushing the ST OP ke y . If the PO WER LED is lit and the L CD indicat es "Hex Dump Mode" and "Label Media", r elease the ST OP ke y , and then the printer ent ers HEX DUMP mode.
