Getting Star ted 1–1 1 Setting Up the Notebook Setting Up the Har dware T o set up the notebook for the first time, you need the notebook, the A C adapter 1 , and the po wer cord 2 . If a battery pack shipped with your notebook, you will also you also need the battery pack 3 .
1–2 Getting Star ted Setting Up the Notebook Inser ting a Battery P ack If your notebook shipped without an optional battery pack, proceed to the next section, “Opening the Notebook. ” If your notebook shipped with a battery pack: 1. T urn the notebook underside up on a flat surface.

Setting Up the Notebook Getting Star ted 1–5 When the notebook recei ves A C power: ■ The A C adapter light 1 turns on. ■ An inserted battery pack begins to char ge. The battery light 2 turns on when the battery pack begins to char ge and turns off when the battery pack is fully charged.
1–6 Getting Star ted Setting Up the Notebook T urning On the Notebook T o turn on the notebook, press the po wer button 1 . When the notebook turns on, the po wer/standby light 2 turns on, and you are prompted to begin softw are setup.

Computer viruses can disable the operating system, your applications, or your utilities or cause them to function abnormally .
