Phillips P0 and P1 scre ws are removed and loosened during disassembly . There are 41 scre ws, in 10 different sizes, that must be remov ed and replaced when servicing the computer .
5 – 2 Maintenance and Ser vice Guide Remov al and Replacement Procedures 5.1 Serial Number Report the computer serial number to Compaq when requesting information or ordering spare parts. The serial number is located on the bottom of the computer (Figure 5-1).

T urn the computer bottom side up with the front facing you. b . Slide and hold the modular media bay release switch 1 to ward the back of the computer (Figure 5-5).

T urn the computer bottom side up with the front facing you. 3. Remov e the silver M2 × 5 scre w 1 that secures the memory expansion compartment co ver to the base enclosure (Figure 5-6).

The board tilts up at a 45-degree angle. 8. Remov e the board by pulling it a way from the connector at a 45-degree angle 2 .

Prepare the computer for disassembly (Section 5.3). 2. T urn the computer bottom side up with the rear panel facing you.
