5 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect the black end of the computer cable to the Com puter 1 con nector on the pr ojector . Connect the blue end to the video port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to dis c onnect the monito r cable fr om t he computer ’ s video port.
6 If you pr efer connecting your computer to th e projector with an opt ional VESA cable, conn ec t one end of the cable to the VESA port on your com- puter , and conn ect the othe r end of th e cable t o the blue Computer 2 con - nector on the pr ojector .
7 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Pr ess the Po w e r button on the top of th e projector or the remote. The LED fla shes green a nd the fans start t o run. When the lamp comes on, the sta r tup scr een is displayed and the LED is steady green.
8 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W indows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes t h e pr ojector as “ new h a rdw a re ” and the A dd Ne w H a rdw a re Wiz ard ap p ea rs .

14 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The p rojector au tomat ically displa ys a bla ck sc reen after no active source is detected for 3 0 minutes. This black screen helps pr eserve the life o f the pro- jector . The image r eturn s when an active sour ce is detected or a remo te or keypad butt on is pressed.

23 Using the remote contr o l The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batteries . They are easily installed by slidi ng the cover of f the rem ote ’ s back, aligning th e + and - ends of t he batteries , sliding them into place, and th en replacin g the cover .

25 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected properly and the computer ’ s im age is on the scre en, you can optimize the i mag e using t he onscreen menus. 26 Optimizing video imag es After the video device is connected pr operly and the image is on t h e scr een, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on u sing t h e menus, s ee page 27. • Adjust the Keystone , Contrast, Brig htness, Color , or T int in the Picture menu.
27 Using the menus T o open the menus, p ress th e menu butt on on th e keypad or remo te. (The menus a u tomatica lly close after 60 seconds if no butt ons are pr essed.) The Main menu appears. 33 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet conn ector that supports net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is w ill allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corpora te network. 35 Replacing the projection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp has b een in use. After 1,980 hours, the mes sage “ Change lamp ” briefly appe ars on the screen a t each st artup . When the time r re aches 2, 000 hours , the lamp will n o longer ligh t.
