9 Switching on the appliance for the first time – setting the language When switching on the appliance fo r the fir st time you must set the language in which you want the indicators in the display to appear . 1. Turn the appliance on by pressing the control knob so that it is no longer flush in the control panel .

12 Main contr ol featur es This chapter describes how to set a large number of functions and com- bine them with each other using only a few contr ol elements (1 control knob and 4 buttons). This simple cont rol method is made easy thanks to the interactive display .
13 Navigation display The functions ar e detailed over levels and pages within the washing machine dis- play . One level can include a number of pages. Y ou can see from the navi- gation display which level and page you are curr ently on (here: level 3, page 1 of 2).
14 Buttons and levels Using the buttons you can: – select the option that is next to the button on the right, e. g. ST ART; – change settings, e.g.
15 3. Level: EXTRAS ì (3rd level, page 1 of 2) On this level you can set var- ious basic settings. These ba- sic settings will not be cancelled when you switch off the washing machine. These basic settings will re- main active until they are cancelled.
16 5. Press the OPTIONS button. 6. Use the contr ol knob to highlight the STAIN option. 7. Press the SELECT button. A tick will appear on the right next to STAIN.
17 Overview of functions Pr ogrammes (Level 1) W ash pr ogr ammes LINEN/EAS Y- CARE Wash progr amme (20 °C to 60 °C) for cottons/ coloureds (cotton/linen), easy-car e (mixed fab- rics, e.g. cotton/polyester) and synthetics. The ap- pliance adjusts the programme accor ding to the different fabric types and load sizes.
18 LINGERIE Gentle wash progr amme which washes at 40 °C for fine and delicate fabrics. Important: Place padded lingerie in a washing net or bag. 40°-60° MIX Progr amme for coloureds when variou s wash temper atures ar e indicat- ed for the items to be washed.
19 DRAIN Drai ning of water following a rinse h old (without spinning). 3 Rinse hold means: The washing is left to soak in the final rinse water; it is not spun. Options (level 2) Use the OPTIONS butt on to switch to the second level. Here you can select various additional functions for the previously selected wash progr amme, e.
20 SENSITIVE S A special additional func tion with considerably more effective rinse function (additional rinse cycle) an improved fabric car e at the same time (reduced drum movement). This is ideal when fr equent washes are necessary , for example in cases of highly sensitive skin.
21 RINSE+ P The washing machine is set such that its water con- sumption is extremely eco- nomical. For people with aller gies and in areas wher e the water is very soft, it can however be helpful to use more water when rinsing.
22 Pr eparing for a wash cycle Sorting and pr eparing the washing • Sort the washing according to car e symbols (see Section "Types of washing and care symbols"). • Empty out the pockets. • Remove meta l objects (such as paper clips, safety pins , etc.
23 T ypes of washing and care symbols Care symbols help you to choose the corr ect wash programme. W ashing should be sorted by type and according to care symbols. The temper a- tures indicated on the car e symbols are the maximum wash tempera- tures.
24 Deter gent and Conditioners Which deter gent and conditioners ? Only use detergents and conditioner s that are suitable for use in wash- ing machines.
25 Befor e the first wash Setting the time Y ou should set the time prior to th e first wash and wh en changing to and from daylight savings time. 1. Press the contr ol knob . The appliance is switched on. 2. Press the OPTIONS button. 3. Press the EXTRAS button.
26 Carrying out a wash progr amme prior to first use Prior to washing your first load, ca rry out a wash cycle without wash- ing (LINEN/EASY -C. 60°, with half the amount of detergent). Th i s w i ll re m o v e re s i d u es re m a i n in g as a result of the production pr oc- ess from the drum and water container .
27 P erforming a wash cycle Opening and closing the door • To open: pull the handle on the door . • To close: firmly push the door shut 3 If the O symbol is showing in the display , the door can be opened. If the N symbol is showing in the display , the door is blocked.
28 Adding deter gents/ conditioners 3 For instructions on the use of dete rgents and conditioner s, please see the section “Deter gents and conditioners” . 1. Open the detergent dr awer: close your fingers ar ound the flap at the bottom of the drawer (1); pull out the drawer as far as it will go (2).
29 3 If using liquid detergents/tablets: Add the liquid detergent or tablets using the measuring container pro- vided by the detergent manufactur er . Follow the instructions on the detergent packaging. Setting a wash pr ogramme 1. Press the contr ol knob .
30 Set the options, e.g. DELA Y START This option allows the start time for a wash programme to be delayed from 30 minutes to a maximum of 23.5 hours. 1. Press the OPTIONS button. 2. Use the contr ol knob to highlight the DELA Y START option. 3. Press the SELECT button.
31 Starting a wash pr ogramme 1. Check that the water tap is open. 2. After you have set the wash progr amme and any options, press the ST ART button. The wash pr ogramme will start. 3 Approx. 30 seconds after the washing machine is switched on or after a button or the contro l knob was last actuated, the START indicator will begin to flash.
32 W ash progr amme pr ogress Each current stage of the progr amme is shown in the display during the wash pro- gramme, e.g. main wash, and a bar showing the pro- gramme pr ogress. The N symbol is displayed as the progr amme progr esses: the loading door is locked.
33 When the wash pr ogramme is complete When a wash progr amme is comple te, PLEASE TAKE OUT THE CLOTHES will appear in the display . 3 If you do not press any buttons or press the control knob within thr ee minutes of the progr amme finishing, the washing machine will switch into standby mode.
34 3. Press the ST ART button. – If short spin is selected the wate r will be dr ained and the washing gently spun. – If drain is selected the water will be drained (without being spun). Unloading the washing If the O § symbol is shown in the display , the door can be opened.
35 MEMORY Saving a pr ogramme setting The MEMORY basic setting can be used to save frequently-used pro- gramme combinations (wash progra mme, temper ature, spin speed and option/s). There ar e four memory cell s available for this purpose. The saved progr amme can then be selected in the same way as any other wash progr amme.
36 If MEMORY is highlighted: 8. Press the SELECT button. If MEMORY 1 is highlighted: 9. Press the SAVE button. The pr ogramme setting has now been saved. 10 . Press the BACK button three times. 37 Cancelling a saved pr ogramme setting 1. Press the OPTIONS button. 2. Press the EXTRAS button. If MEMORY is highlighted: 3. Press the SELECT button. 4. Use the contr ol knob to highlight MEMORY 1. 5. Press the CLEAR button. The saved progr amme has now been cancelled.
38 Changing the language Y ou can change the language setting if you would like the indicator s in the display to appear in a different language. 1. Press the contr ol knob . The appliance is switched on. 2. Press the OPTIONS button. 3. Press the EXTRAS button.
39 6. Use the contr ol knob to highlight the desired lan- guage, e.g. English. As soon as the language is highlighted, the indicators in the display will change to this language. 7. Use the SELECT button to save the selected language. All indicator s in the display will immediately appear in this language.
40 Maintenance and Cleaning Contr ol panel Important! Do not use household furniture pol ish or abrasive cleaner s to clean panel and operating parts. Wipe over the operating panels wi th a damp cloth. Use warm water . Deter gent Dispenser Drawer The detergent dispenser dr awer should be cleaned from time to time.
41 7. Use a brush to clean the entir e compartment ar ea of the washing machine, particularly also the noz- zles on the top side of the com- partment. 8. Set the deter gent dispensing draw- er into the guide tracks and push it in. W ashing Machine Drum The washing machine drum is made from rust-fr ee stainless steel.
42 What to do if... Remedying a malfunction In the event of a malfunction, try to rectify the pr oblem yourself with the aid of the instructio ns provided here.
43 The wash programme will not begin after the START button was pressed. A TTENTION / PLEASE CLOSE THE DOOR is showing in the display . The door is not cl osed prop- erly . Close the door - there should be an audible click. Press the START button. The door canno t be closed.
44 Water is running out from under the wash- ing machine. The threaded inlet hose fit- ting is leaking. Screw the inlet hose in firmly . The outlet hose is lea king. Check the outlet hose and replace if necessary . The drain pump cover is not closed properly .
45 The display go es out while a wash pro- gramme is running. A power failure has occurred. For reasons related to safety , the filling doo r will remain locked for approx. 4 minutes. As soon as the power failure is over the wash progr amme will continue.
46 The washing has not been spun thoroughly and water remains visi- ble in the drum. ATT E NT I ON CD 2 / PLEASE CHECK THE WA TER DRAINAGE is showing in the disp lay . The outlet hose is kinked. Straighten the hose. The maxim um pump heigh t (outlet height 1 m from the washing machine’s installa- tion surface) has been exceeded.
47 If the washing r esult s are not satisfactory If the washing turns greyish and limescale deposits ar e present in the drum • Insufficient detergent has been added. • Incorrect deter gent was used. • Stains were not pre-tr eated. • Progr amme or temperatur e was not set correctly .
48 Carrying out an emer gency emptying • If the washing machine no longer pumps out the water , emergency emptying must be carried out. • If the washing machine is located in a room in which below freezing temperatur es might occur , emergenc y emptying must be carried out.
49 When the water is completely dr ained: 6. Push the plug securely into the em er gency emptying hose and turn it clockwise to secure it. 7. Replace the emergency emptying hose in its holder . 8. Put on the flap and close. Dr ain pump The drain pump is maintenance free.
50 5. Replace the pump cover . Laterally insert the webs on the cover into the guide slots and screw on the cover in a clockwise dir ection. 6. Close the emergency emptying hose and place it in the holder . 7. Close the flap. Anti-flood Aqua Con- tr ol + Aqua Alarm The inlet hose has a mechanical built in safety device.
51 Child Safety Featur e If the child safety featur e is set, the door cannot be closed and no washing progr amme can be start- ed. Setting the child safety feature Use a coin to turn the r otary knob on the inside of the door clock- wise as far as it will go.

54 Installation and connection instructions Installation Safety Pr ecautions • When moving do not tilt the washin g machine onto its front or onto its right hand side (viewed from the fr ont). This is to prevent the pos- sibility of the electronic components becoming wet.
55 Installation of the appliance T ransporting the appliance • Do not place the washing machine on its front or on its right hand side (viewed fr om the front). This is to pr event the po ssibility of the electronic components becoming wet. • Never tran sport the unit without the tr ansport packaging and bolts/ bars.
56 2. Pull both hose holders off the ap- pliance with a str ong pull. 3 The special spanner A and the caps B (2 each) and C (1 each) ar e supplied with it. 3. Remove the screw D, including the compression spring with the special spanner A. 4. Cover the hole with the cap C.
57 Installation-Site pr eparation • The installation surface must be clea n, dry and level. Do not install on a deep pile carpet. • Minor unevenness of the floor surface should never be levelled out by laying pieces of wood, card or simi lar materials, but should always be compensated for by adjusting the screw feet.
58 Installation on a Suspended Floor Suspended wooden floors ar e particular ly susceptible to vibration. T o help prevent vibr ation we recommend you place a waterproof wood panel, at least 15 mm thick under th e appliance, secur ed to at least 2 floor beams with scr ews.
59 Electrical Connection Any electrical work r equired to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 WARNI NG – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufacturer declines any liabi lity should these safety measur es not be observed.
60 P ermanent Connection In the case of a permanent connection it is necessary that you install a double pole switch between the appl iance and the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 mm between the switch contacts and of a type suitable for the requir ed load in compliance with the current electrical regulations.
61 W ater connection 3 The washing machine is provided with safety devices pr eventing back- contamination of the water supply and complies with local water au- thority requir ements. This appliance is designed to be pe rmanently plumbed into your home’s water supply .
62 Inlet Hose Connection A pressur e hose 1.5 m in length is supplied. If a longer inflow hose is required, only a VDE-appr o ved, complete set of hoses with fitted hose screw connections offered by your local Serv- ice Force Centr e is permissible. – Hose sets in lengths of 2.
63 Wa t e r D ra i n a g e The appliance dr ain hose should hook into a standpipe, the hook in the drain hose is formed using the plas tic “U-Piece“ supplied. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approximately 38 mm (see dia- gram) thus ensuring ther e is an ai r break between the dr ain hose and standpipe.
64 Pump head of gr eater than 1m Every washing machine includes a wa sh water pump for the removal of wash and rinse water , which can pump fluids through the outlet hose up to a height of 1m, measured fr om the surface on which the machine stands.
