5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and conn ection instructions” . • If the appliance is delivere d in th e winter months when there are mi- nus temperatur es: stor e the washin g machine at room temperatur e for 24 hours befor e using for the fir st time.
6 Gener al safety • Repairs to the washing machine may only be carried out by qualified/ authorised service engineers. • Never use the appliance when the el ectrical cable is damaged o r the control panel, worktop or plinth ar ea are damaged to such an extent that the inside of the app liance is openly accessible.

10 Befor e the first wash 1. Open the detergent dr awer . 2. P our approx. 2 litr es of water thr ough the detergent dr awer into the washing machine. This closes the water container when the next progr amme is started and the economy valve can function pr operly 3.
11 Running a wash cycle Opening the door/l oading washing 1. Open the door: pull the handle on the door . When the appliance is switched on , the DOOR and ST ART/PAUSE indica - tors show whether the door can be opened: 2. Separate washing and load it loose- ly .

13 Changing the spin speed/selecting rinse hold The washing machine suggests the maximum permitted spin speed suitable for the selected pro- gramme. Y ou can reduce this spin speed: To do this, pr ess the Spin/RINSE HOLD button repeatedly until the requi red indicator is illuminated.
14 PRE WASH Warm pr e-wash before the main wash th at follows automatically; with intermediate spin for COTT ONS/LI NEN and EASY -CARES, without inter- mediate spin for DELICA TES. STAIN For heavily soiled or stained washing. Stain r emoval agent will be rinsed into the wash a t the optim um point in the progr amme.
15 Interrupting a pr ogramme/adding washing Interrupting a pr ogramme • A progr amme can at any time be in terrupted by pressing the ST ART/ PAUSE button and r esumed by pressing START/P AUSE again. • To cancel a pr ogramme befor e it has ended, turn the progr amme se- lector to OFF .
16 Child safety device If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut. Activating the child safety device: Use a coin to turn the knob (on the inside of the door) in a clockwise di- rection as far as it will go.
17 Cleaning and maintenance Important! Do not use furniture car e produ cts or aggr essive cleaners to clean the appliance. Wipe control panel and body with a damp cloth. Cleaning pr ocedure If you plan to wash mainly at low temper ature, you should run a hot progr amme from time to time.
18 Door and rubber collar Regularly check whether deposits or for eign bodies are pr esent in the folds of the rubber collar or on the inside of the glass doo r .

20 If the wash result is not satisfactory The washing is grey a nd there are limescale deposits in the drum • Too little detergent was used. • An incorr ect detergent was used. • Individual stains were not pr e-treated. • The progr amme or temperatur e was not set properly .
21 There ar e white residues on the washing • What can be seen here ar e insolu ble substances which modern deter- gents contain. They are not the r esult of insufficient rinsing. Shake or brush the wash ing. If possible turn the washing inside out before washing.
22 Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance-free. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Before loading the machine, please always ensure that ther e are no for- eign bodies present in the pockets or in between the items to be washed.
23 Disposal 2 Packaging material The packaging materials are envir onmentally friendly and can be recy- cled. The plastic components are id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appropriate container at your local waste disposal facilities.

25 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concerning installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st time, check the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being transpor ted. Do not under any cir cumstanc- es connect an appliance that is dama ged to the mains.
26 Installing the appliance T ransporting the appliance 1 War n i n g : The washing machine is very heavy . There is a risk of injury . Exercise car e when lifting the appliance. • Do not lay the washing machine on its front nor on its right side (as seen from the f ront).
27 2. Remove the power supply cable and the draining hose fr om the hose holders on the rear of the appliance. 3. With a suitable spanner unscrew and rem o v e th e c e nt ra l re a r b o l t A . Slide out the relevant plastic spacer . 4. Un s c re w a n d re m ov e t h e t w o l a rg e rear bolts B and the six smaller bolts C .
28 5. Remove the bracket D. 6. Refit the six smaller bolts C . 7. Open the porthole and remove the polystyrene block fitted with the ad- hesive tape on the door seal. 8. Fill the smaller upper hole and the two large ones with the correspond- ing plastic plug caps supplied in the bag containing the instruction booklet.
29 Connect the water inlet hose as described under the par agraph “W ater inlet” . Wher e to install Important! The washing machine must not be operated in a room where ther e is a danger of frost. There is a risk of frost damage or ad- verse effect on the perfomance of the machine.
30 Electrical Connection Any electrical work r equired to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 WARNI NG – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufacturer declines any liabi lity should these safety measur es not be observed.
31 P ermanent Connection In the case of a permanent connection it is necessary that you install a double pole switch between the appl iance and the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 mm between the switch contacts and of a type suitable for the requir ed load in compliance with the current electrical regulations.
32 W ater inlet Attention! • An inlet hose is supplied and can be found inside the machine drum. • Do not use the hose fr om your previous machine to connect to the water supply . • This appliance must be connec ted to a cold water supply . 1. Open the porthole and extract the inlet hose.
33 Wa t e r D ra i n a g e The appliance dr ain hose should hook into a standpipe, the hook in the drain hose is formed using the plas tic “U-Piece“ supplied. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approximately 38 mm (see dia- gram) thus ensuring ther e is an ai r break between the dr ain hose and standpipe.
34 Pumping heights of over 1 metr e The washing machine’s dr ain pump is ab le to pump water to a height of 1 metr e, calculated from the surface on which the appliance is instal led. Important! If pumping height is over 1 metr e malfunctions and dam- age to the appliance may arise.
