8 Instruction for the user Safety information Prior to using for the fir st time ● The safety of ELECTROLUX appliances complies with the industry standards and with legal requir ements on the safety of appliances. However , as manufacturer s, we feel it is our duty to pr ovide the following safety notes.
9 ● Wash small items such as socks , laces, washable belts etc in a washing bag or pillow case as it is possible for such items to slip down between the tub and the inner drum. ● Do not use your washing machine to wash articles with whalebones, material without hems or torn material.
● Do not overload the appliance. See the relevant section in the user manual. ● Before washing, ensur e that all pockets are empty and buttons and zips ar e fastened. Avoid washing frayed or torn articles and tr eat stains such as paint, ink, rust, and grass befor e washing.
11 Pr oduct description Y our new appliance meets all modern requir ements for effective treatment of laundry with low water , energy and detergent consumption. The E E C C O O v v a a l l v v e e system allows total use of detergent and r educes water consumption therefor e saving energy .
12 Control panel Contr ol panel Fir st Use Ensure that the electrical and water connections comply with the installation instructions. Remove the polystyrene block and any material fr om the drum. P our 2 litres of water into the main wash compartment of the detergent dr awer in order to activate the ECO valve.
13 Use P ersonalization Acoustic signals The machine is provided of an acoustic device, which sounds in the following cases: ● at the end of the cycle ● in the event of operating pr oblems By pres.
14 Use Daily Use Load the laundry 1. Open the door by carefully pulling the door handle outwards . Place the laundry in the drum, one item at a time, shaking them out as much as possible. 2. Close the door firmly . You must hear a click during closing.
Select the r equired pr ogramme Y ou can choose the right progr amme for any type of laundry following the descriptions on the washing progr amme tables (see Washing Pr ogrammes). Turn the pr ogramme selector dial to the r equired pr ogramme. The pr ogramme selector determines the type of washing cycle (e.
Pr ogramme option button Depending on the progr amme, different functions can be combined. These must be selected after choosing the desired pr ogramme and befor e depressing the Start/Pause button. When these buttons are pr essed, the corresponding pilot lights come on.
Select the Time Saving option This option allows you to modify the washing time, automatically proposed by the washing machine. Daily : by pressing this button once , the r elative pilot light comes on and the washing duration will be r educed to wash daily soiled laundry .
Incorrect option selection If an option which is not compatible with the set wash progr amme is selected, the message Err is displayed for about 2 seconds and the yellow Start/P ause light start flashing. Alarm codes In the event of operating pr oblems, some alarm codes can be displayed, for example E20 (see paragr aph «Something not working»).
19 Use Select the Delay Start Before you start the pr ogramme , if you wish to delay the start, pr ess the Delay Start button repeatedly , to select the desired delay . The selected delay time value (up to 20 hours) will appear on the display for about 3 seconds, then the dur ation of the progr amme will appear again.
Pr ogramme pr ogress display After having pressed the Start/P ause button, the «washing» (Waschen/Lavage) pilot lights comes on. When the pilot light «washing» comes on this means that the machine is performing the washing cycle. The «Door» (Tür/P orte) pilot light indicates if the door can be opened: ● light on: the door cannot be opened.
Cancelling a pr ogramme Turn the selector dial to O to cancel a pr ogramme which is running. Now you can select a new progr amme. Opening the door after the pr ogramme has started First set the machine to pause by pr essing the Start/Pause button. If the «Door» light goes off, the door can be opened.
* Stain option can be selected only at the temperatur e of 40°C or higher . ** If you select the SUPER QUICK option by means of TIME SAVING button, we rec- commend you, to reduce the maximum load as indicated. Full loading is possible however with somewhat reduced cleaning r esults.

24 Refresh This progr amme can be selected with the following options: Spin Speed Reduction and Delay Start. This pro- gramme must be used for slightly soiled cotton items . ECO This progr amme can be selected for slightly or normally soiled cotton items.
Pr eparing the wash cycle Sorting out the laundry Follow the wash code symbols on each garment label and the manufacturer’ s washing instructions. Sort the laundry as follows: whites , coloureds , synthetics, delicates, woollens . T emperatur es Befor e loading the laundry Never wash whites and coloureds together .
26 Maximum loads Recommended loads are indicated in the washing pr ogramme charts . General rules: Cotton, linen: drum full but not too tightly packed; Synthetics: drum no more than half full ; Delicate fabrics and woollens: drum no mor e than one third full.
Removing stains Stubborn stains may not be removed by just water and deter gent. It is therefor e advisable to treat them prior to washing. Blood: treat fr esh stains with cold water . For dried stains, soak overnight in water with a special detergent then rub in the soap and water .
28 Deter gents and additives Good washing results also depend on the choice of deter gent and use of the correct quantities to avoid waste and pr otect the environment. Although biodegradable, deter gents contain substances which, in large quantities, can upset the delicate balance of natur e.
Degr ees of water hardness Water har dness is classified in so-called “degrees” of har dness. Information on hardness of the water in your ar ea can be obtained from the r elevant water supply company , or from your local authority .

Car e and cleaning Y ou must DISCONNECT the appliance from the electricity supply , before you can carry out any cleaning or maintenance work. Descaling The water we use normally contains lime. It is a good idea to periodically use a water softening powder in the machine.
2. Remove the conditioner insert from the middle compartment. 3. Clean all parts with water . 4. Put the conditioner insert in as far as it will go, so that it is firmly in place. 5. Clean all parts of the washing ma- chine, especially the nozzles in the top of the washing-in chamber , with a brush.
Dr ain pump The pump should be inspected regularly and particularly if • the machine does not empty and/or spin • the machine makes an unusual noise during draining due to objects such as safety pins, coins etc. blocking the pump. Proceed as follows: 1.

Installation Unpacking All transit bolts and packing must be r emoved before using the appliance. Y ou are advised to keep all tr ansit devices so that they can be refitted if the machine ever has to be transported again. 1. After removing all the packaging, car efully lay machine on it’s back to r emove the polystyrene base fr om the bottom.
4. Unscrew and r emove the two large r ear bolts B and the six smaller bolts C . 5. Remove the bracket D and tighten up the six smaller bolts C . Slide out the relevant plastic spacer E. 6. Open the porthole, take out the inlet hose from the drum and remove the polystyr ene block fitted with the adhesive tape on the door seal.
P ositioning and levelling Install the machine on a flat hard floor . Make sure that air cir culation around the machine is not impeded by carpets , rugs etc. Before placing it on small tiles , apply a rubber coating. Never try to correct any unevenness in the floor by putting pieces of wood, cardboar d or similar materials under the machine.
3. Set the hose correctly by loosening the ring nut. After positioning the inlet hose, be sure to tighten the ring nut again to prevent leaks . 4. Connect the hose to a tap with a 3/4” thread. Always use the hose supplied with the appliance. The inlet hose must not be lengthened.
Important! The drain hose may be extended to a maximum of 4 metr es. An additional dr ain hose and joining piece is available from your local Service Centr e. Electrical connection This machine is designed to operate on a 220-230 V, single-phase, 50 Hz supply .
