A valve in the ink s upply po rt makes covers or plugs unnecessary, but the ink may stain items tha t come i n contact wi th this area of the cartr idge.

11 Loading Paper Loading Special Paper and Other Media You c an prin t on a w ide varie ty of sp ecial me dia, in clud ing ink jet paper, phot o quality glo ssy film, photo pap er, transpa rencies, index cards, and adhesive sheets.
12 ❏ Load the medi a printabl e side up in the sheet feeder. Se e the instru ction sheets pac ked with the medi a to deter mine which side is the printa ble side. Some types of media have cut corn ers to help i dentify the c orrec t loadi ng dir ectio n, as shown in the i llustrat ion.

16 Using Roll Paper Using the Roll Paper Holder With th e Roll pap er holder pac ked with the print er, you can pri nt in roll paper form at which is convenient for banner pr inting. When you ar e printing using t he Roll pa per holder , keep the follo wing i n mind .
17 Loading the Ro ll Paper Foll ow th e dir ection s below to mo unt the Roll pa per h older and load the ro ll p aper. 1. Set roll p aper in the roll pap er holder. Note: Remove the transparent sheet after setting the roll paper into the holders. 2. C heck that t he end of the roll is c ut pe rpend icula rly to the edges as shown.
18 3. To uncurl t he paper , roll the paper i nside th e protec tive fi lm packaged with the print er in th e directi on opposi te to the paper ’ s curl, as shown below. 4. Remove the paper s uppo rt and l ower the out put tray . Then, turn on the print er.
19 6. G ently insert th e end of th e pap er into th e printe r as far as it will go, flush wi th the righ t edge guide. Sl ide the left ed ge guide agai nst the l eft edge of the pap er. 7. T o lo ad th e pap er c orrec tly, you mu st h old the p aper i n pl ace with your ha nd while you press the z r oll pa per bu tton.
20 The roll paper is now loaded. Nex t, set u p the print er sof tware and try p rinting. For detai ls on s etting up the pri nter softwa re, refer to “ Printing on Roll Paper ” in the o nlin e Reference Guide .
21 Note: EPSON recommends that you use a triangle or other tool to ensure that the end of the roll is cut perpendicularly. A diagona l cut may cause paper feed problems. 3. Once you have c ut the paper, hol d down the z roll pape r button f or abo ut 3 second s.

28 Making settings in the Page Setup dialog box In the Page S etup dial og box, you can cha nge the paper size, speci fy the paper o rien tation , print o n both s ides o f the p aper, rotate yo ur document by 1 80 degrees, reduce or e nlarge your prin tout, a nd adjus t the p rintabl e area.
29 Making settings in the Layout dialog box You can modi fy the pag e layou t of your do cument using the prin ter dr iver sett ings lo cated in the Lay out dialo g box. To open this d ialog box, c lick Print on t he File men u of your applicat ion, then click the Layout icon bu tton in the Pri nt dialo g box.
30 Replacing Ink Cartridges Using the Printer's Control Panel This print er uses in k cartridges equ ipped with IC chips. Th e IC chip accuratel y monitors t he amount of ink u sed by each cart ridge , so ev en if a c artr idge is r emove d and later insert ed again, all of its ink can be used .
31 c Caution: ❏ EPSON recommends the use of genuine EPSON ink cartridges. Other products not manufactured by EPSON may cause damage to your printer not covered by EPSON's warranties. ❏ Leave the old cartridge installed in the printer until you have obtained a re placement; otherwise, ink remaining in the print head nozzles may d ry out.
32 2. Press down the e ink ca rtridge replac ement button . The pr int head moves left to the I nk cartrid ge replacement p osition. The P power lig ht begins to flash , and the b error l ight begi ns to flash or remain s on.
33 4. Remove the new i nk cart ridge f rom its protect ive bag an d then only p eel off the yel low tape seal. Do not to uch the green chip on the si de of the c artri dge. c Caution: ❏ You must remove the yellow tape seal from the cartridge before installing it; otherwise, the cartridge will become unusab le and you will b e unable to prin t.
34 5. Align the tabs on the ink cart ridge so th at they are rest ing on the tabs pr otruding from the base of the opened ink car tridge c l a m p . P u s h t h e c l a m p s d o w n u n t i l t h e y l o c k f i r m l y i n t o p l a c e .
