T o open it, apply thumb pressure t o the ribbed, down poin ting triangle and slide it about 1/8 inch (about 3 mm) to wards the bo t- tom o f the radio, then pull up.

9 4 GETTING ST ART ED continued IMPORT ANT AC AD APTER/CHAR GER INFORMA TION AND PRECA UTIONS It is normal for the A C adapt er/charger t o feel warm during use. When the AC adap ter/char ger is connected, the E5 aut omatically switches t o the AC adap ter/char ger’s power and ins talled batt eries are no t used.
4. Press the F7 butt on (25) for about 3 sec onds, or until CHG (39) appears in the upper right o f the display and the char ging hours appear in the display. 5. Use the tuning knob (40) to select the char ging time in hours (00-23). See chart below. Pr ess the P AGE/TIME butt on (4) when nished.

13 USING THE DX/L OCAL SWIT CH (46) The DX/L OCAL swit ch is locat ed on the left side of the E5 and is labeled DX/L O. Use DX as the de fault setting. This giv es the E-5 maximum sensitivity to signals. If s trong sta tions seem dist orted, then use the local setting (labeled L O).
