4 -EN Correct Handling Do not drop the disc while handling. Hold the disc so you will not leav e fingerprints on the surf ace. Do not affix tape, paper , or gummed labels to the disc. Do not write on the disc. Disc Cleaning Fingerprints, dust, or soil on the surface of the disc could cause the CD player to skip.
5 -EN On handling Compact Discs (CD/CD-R/CD-RW) • Do not touch the surface. • Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight. • Do not affix stickers or labels and do not write on the surface. • Clean the disc when it is dusty . • Make sure that there are no bumps around the disc.
6 -EN Getting Started T urning Power On and Off Press SOURCE/POWER to turn on the unit. • The unit can be turned on by pr essing any other button except eject c and TITLE / . The volume level gradually increases to the pr evious level you were listening to befor e the unit was tur ned off.
7 -EN For CD A-9811: VOLUME SETTING → LEVEL INDICA TOR → OFF → VOLUME SETTING Detaching and Attaching the Front Panel Detaching 1 T urn off the unit power . 2 Press (Release) at the upper left side until the fr ont panel pops out. 3 Grasp the left side of the fr ont panel and pull it out.
8 -EN Radio Changing the Radio Frequencies for each Country For customers not li ving in North America, change the radio frequencies as follows. 1 Press and hold F/SETUP for at least 3 seconds. 2 Select the "AREA" mode by pressing g or f . 3 Choose either AREA 1 or AREA 2 by pressing BAND/TEL .
9 -EN CD / MP3 / WMA Playback 1 Press c . The movable display will open. 2 Insert a disc with the label side facing up. The disc will be pulled into the unit automatically . The movable display will close and playback will begin. When a disc is already inserted, press SOURCE/PO WER to switch to the CD mode.
10 -EN M.I.X. (Random Play) Press 5 ( ) in the play or pause mode. The tracks (files) on the disc will be played back in random sequence. T o cancel M.I.X. play , press 5 ( ) again. CD mode : ↓ M.I.X.: T rac k are play ed back in random sequence. ↓ *3 M.
11 -EN Scanning Programs Press 6 ( ) to activate the Scan mode. The first 10 seconds of each track (file) will be played back in succession. T o stop scanning, press 6 ( ) and deactivate the Scan mode.
12 -EN Corresponding File Systems This device supports discs formatted with ISO9660 Level 1 or Level 2. Under the ISO9660 standard, ther e are some restrictions to remember .
13 -EN Sound Setting Adjusting Balance (Between Left and Right)/ Fader (Between Front and Rear)/Defeat 1 Press Rotary encoder repeatedly to choose the desired mode.
14 -EN Equalizer Presets (CDA-9815/CDA-9813 only) 3 typical equalizer settings are preset at the factory for a v ariety of musical source material. 1 Press EQ and select the EQ mode. 2 Press either g or f . With each press of the button, the equalizer mode will display the selected equalizer characteristic.
15 -EN Recalling the Stored Equalizer Curve (CDA-9815/CDA-9813 only) 1 Press EQ to select EQ mode. 2 Press and hold EQ for at least 2 seconds. 3 Press any one of the pr eset buttons (1 through 6) to activate y our desired curve. 4 Press EQ to return to normal mode.
16 -EN F/R Sub. W 3WA Y 5 T urn the Rotary encoder to select the desired output level. Adjustable output level: -12 to 0 dB. T o store the adjusted contents 1) Pr ess and hold any one of the preset b uttons (1 through 6) for at least 2 seconds into which you wish to store the adjusted contents.
17 -EN About T ime Correction The distance between the listener and the speakers in a car v ary widely due to the complex speak er placement. This difference in the distances from the speakers to the listener creates a shift in the sounds image and frequency characteristics.
18 -EN (2) Press BAND/TEL. to select the left (front and rear) speakers. Then turn the Rotary encoder to select 1.5 ms (Delay no. 15 in the table). The time difference is 3.
19 -EN Adjusting and Storing the T ime Correction (Storing available on CDA-9815 only) Before performing the following procedures, refer to "About T ime Correction" (page 17).
20 -EN Other Functions Displaying the T itle/T ext It is possible to display the CD/Station title if the title has been previously inputted (“T itling Disc/Stations” page 21). T ext information, such as the disc name and the track name, will be displayed if playing a CD text compatible disc.
21 -EN Erasing Disc T itle/Station T itle 1 Press TITLE / to select the Title Display . Then, press again and hold for at least 3 seconds. • For CDA-9815, see asterisk 1 of “ Displaying the T itle/T ext ” (page 20). 2 Press and hold - / J for at least 2 seconds.
22 -EN i-Personalize™ Operation (CDA-9815 only) About i-Personalize™ Y ou can download data (from Alpine ’ s website) to a CD-R, and download and store the data to the CD A-9815. T o start i-Personalize, access the URL belo w and follow the on-screen instructions.
23 -EN SETUP Y ou can flexibly customize the unit to suit your own preferences and usage. Choose the SETUP menu from Sound Customizing, V isual Customizing, etc., to select your desired setting. The common operation for SETUP is step 1 to 4 as follows.
