Section One 6 TOP AND FRONT COMPONENTS Display Panel Latch T his latch locks and r eleases the display panel. Whe n the display panel is released it pops up slightly to make it easier t o open. (Figure 1-3 . ) Display Panel T his is a color L CD panel with back lighting for the display of text and graphics.

Section One 8 PC Card Slots T he PC Card Slots allow y ou to install two T ype II PC Cards or one T yp e III PC Card. (See pages 50–52 for more information on PC Cards.) The butt on to the left of the card slots locks the card(s) in place, and the buttons to the right of the slots eject the card(s) from the slots.

DVD/CD-ROM Drive Access Indicator T he DVD/CD-R OM A c cess indicator tells y ou that the DVD/CD-R OM drive is being ac cessed. The DVD/CD-R OM A cc ess indicator will flash when the software tries to access a D VD/CD even if no DVD/CD is inserted.

The Floppy Disk Driv e A cc ess indicator will flash when your softwar e tries to access a floppy disk even if no floppy disk is installed.
CAUTION Under federal, state or local law it may be illegal to dispose of batteries by putting them in the trash. Please take care of our environment and dispose of batteries properly . Check with your local government authority for details regarding r ecycling or disposing of old batteries.

Section Three 28 POINT The interval between presses for double clicking, and other parameters of pointing and selecting, can be adjusted with the selections in the dialog box of the mouse icon in your Windows Control Panel.

Section Three 30 Eac h setting source puts an upper limit on the volume which can be set by the other sour ces. For example if the hardware volume c ontrol is turned all the way do wn, your softwar e volume c ontrol settings have no effect.

Section Three 34 Applicatio n P anel. The LifeBook A pplication P anel is located in your start menu. It includes: Application P anel Setup , LifeBook Application P anel Guide, Activate Lif eBook Application P anel and Deactivate LifeBook A pplication P anel.
Three Using Y our LifeBook C Series LifeBook C Series from Fujitsu 35 CAUTION The internal modem is not intended for use with Digital PBX systems. Do not connect the internal modem to a digital PBX as it may cause serious damage to the internal modem or your entire note- book.
POINT Disabling the Suspend/Resume function prevents it from being used to put your notebook in Standby or Save-to-Disk mode. The resume function of the but- ton cannot be disabled. (See the Power Menu of the BIOS setup utility , pages 43-44, for more information.

POINT When PC Cards or external devices are in use, Save-to-Disk mode cannot return to the exact state prior to suspension, because all of the peripheral devices will be re-initialized when the system restarts. Section Three 38 POINT The main advantage of using the Save-to-Disk function is that power is not required to maintain your data.
Three Using Y our LifeBook C Series LifeBook C Series from Fujitsu 39 POINT If you are using CD Player , your notebook will not go into Suspend or Save-to-Disk modes until you stop Quick Player . POINT Save-to-Disk mode will not operate when Resume On Modem Ring has been selected in the BIOS.
Section Three 40 POINT W indows 98 SE has its own integrated power management features that include the functionality of those listed above. (Idle and Standby Mode) bee n set in the BIOS setup utility . (See pages 43-44.) An y attempt to acc ess the hard drive will cause the hard drive t o restart automatically .

If you for- get, you may not be able to use the note- book, and you will have to contact your service provider and arrange to have them reset the hardwar e system password.
Section Three 42 POINT Y our LIfeBook C Series does not support CPU Clock control. This option is not selectable in the Power Control tab of PMSet 98. DVD Player If y our unit comes with a DVD Pla yer , you will also hav e DVD Play er pre-installed. This appli- cation will enable you to play D VD movies on your notebook.

W ith the purchase of an additional battery , you can hav e a fully charged spare to swap with one that is not charged.
