14 Erasing Messages Y ou may erase messages three ways: T o erase a message while it is playing 1. Press and r elease the respective mailbo x button (play/stop 1 or play/stop 2 or play/stop 3) 2. Press caller id 9 or : button to select and play the message y ou want to erase.

16 Handset Name NOTE: This setting may only be made with the cor dless handset . 1. Press the mute/menu button until ENTER NAME shows in the display. 2. Use the touch-tone pad on the handset to enter the name (up to 15 characters). More than one letter is stor ed in each of the number keys.
17 NOTE: T OLL (Toll Saver) can save you the cost of a toll call when accessing your messages from another phone. If you hav e new messages, the unit answers after the 3rd ring. 23 Handset Ringer ON/OFF Short cut Apart from the setting in the main menu, there is a shortcut to set the ringer . Make sure the phone is OFF (not in talk mode). 1. Press the #P AUSE/ringer button to go to the RINGER ON/OFF menu. RINGER 4 1 ON shows in the display.
24 Call T ransfer Transferring Call fr om Base to Cordless Handset During an external call, you may transfer the external call from base to handset . 26 Mute To hav e a private, off -line conversation, use the mute feature. The party on the other end of the line cannot hear you, but you can still hear them. 1. Press the mute/do not disturb button on the base or mute/menu button on the handset . The mute indicator on base turns on and MUTE ON or MUTE shows in the display.
27 Base Unit Speakerphone Operation For best speakerphone performance, avoid the following: • Areas with high backgr ound noise. (The microphone might pick up these sounds.) • Surfaces affected by vibration. • Recessed areas such as in a corner , under a cupboar d, or next to a cabinet , which can generate an echo effect .
28 Cordless Handset Speak erphone Operation Switching Between the Speakerphone and Handset Earpiece • If you are using the cor dless handset earpiece and want to switch to the handset speakerphone, press the SPEAKER button; you can then press SPEAKER button again to end conversation.

31 Chain Dialing from Memory Use this feature to make calls that r equire a sequence of numbers, such as a frequently used long distance car d number .
32 Caller ID (CID) IMPORT ANT: In order to use this unit ’s Caller ID featur es, you must subscribe to either the standard Name/Number Caller ID Service or Call Waiting Caller ID Service. To know who is calling while you ar e on the phone, you must subscribe to Call Waiting Caller ID Service.
33 Storing CID Records (In CID Memory) If you are not at home or cannot answ er , your telephone’s Caller ID memory stores the data for the most recent 40 calls you r eceived so that you can see who called while you wer e unavailable. When the 41st call is receiv ed, the oldest Caller ID record (1st call) is automatically deleted.
34 Storing CID Records in Internal Memory Y ou may transfer a Caller ID recor d to your phone’s memory. NOTE: It is important that you format CID r ecords correctly befor e storing in memory. It is not possible t o r eformat CID recor ds stored in memory.
35 NOTE: If the phone company does not supply all ten digits of an incoming caller ’s number , you will not be allowed to adjust the format of that number . 36 Caller ID Errors If there is an err or in the transmission of information to your Caller ID phone, ERROR shows in the display. If you have not subscribed to Caller ID service or it is not working, NO DA T A shows in the display.
37 Memory Full When the answering system’s memory is full, the system answers after 10 rings, beeps, and waits for you to enter the 3-digit security code. Y ou have 10 seconds to enter the security code before the phone hangs up. Y ou should erase some of the messages in order for the system to r ecord incoming messages.
38 Changing the Security Code The default security code for accessing the answering system from another location is 1 2 3. The security code is set through the pr ogramming menu. 39 Headset and Belt Clip Operation Connecting an Optional Headset to the Handset For hands free conversation, connect the headset (optional) to the HEADSE T jack. The handset receiver and micr ophone are disabled when the headset is connected. Adjust the headset to rest comfortably on top of your head and over your ear .
40 END OF LIST Indicates that there is no additional information in Caller ID memory. ENTER NUMBER Prompt telling you to enter a telephone number in one of the 10 memory locations. ENTER NAME Prompt telling you to enter the name in one of the 10 memory locations.
41 UNA V AIL ABLE Indicates the handset is out of range. Or an additional handset is in use. Or there has been a base power failur e, in which case you must place all handsets on the main base cradle for 20 seconds to re-establish link with the base.
42 Handset/Base does not ring • Make sure the handset ringer and the base ringer is ON. • The cordless handset may be out of range. Move closer to the base. • You may have too many extension phones on y our line. Try unplugging some phones. • Check for dial tone.
43 Caller ID Solutions No Display • Is battery fully charged? Try replacing the battery. • Make sure that the unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet .
